Can you put that exhaust hose/pipe thing in the water to make the motor quieter? I know you would get some backpressure but it may not significantly affect performance.
You're lucky you did not ask this question on a Facebook mud motor forum or else they would laugh at you like they did at me when I asked that very simple question... And I think it's a good one. Unfortunately your engine will just suck the water up into itself you won't be going very far so no you cannot do that. These engines are single cylindered thin walled air cooled engines so they are not going to be quiet especially with those valves. The only way to truly quiet these engines down is to put some kind of enclosure around it but then you have the problem of cooling the engine unless you have some sort of direct dry very important dry cool air being injected right into that enclosure your engine will eventually melt down
@@tommak6516 no there is a little bit of vacuum I'm not exactly sure how that works man but there is a vacuum that's how those little pulse pumps work those little fuel pumps they worked off the vacuum of the engine
these thai motor kits were never meant to be used as mud motors, in thailand they run these in clear water 99% of the time. the reason they came up with this design was because conventional outboard motors are waaay too expensive to afford in poor countries like thailand so by using a common industrial engine mated to a very simple propeller shaft created a very economical way of powering a boat. that said they are very robust and yes, if you do a lot of intentional mudding or weeding you will break props but the replacements are very cheap. i've had mine for 15 years now going strong, i assembled it with a genuine honda gx200, not a cheap clone, pull-start only and it still starts on the first pull every time. the only part i've changed was the cutless bearing, this is the bearing at the end of the tube where the prop shaft emerges. the old ones were made of wood and mine finally split, the replacements are made of some kind of plastic and are supposed to hold up better. i've never had to replace a prop due to damage only to get better speed and fuel efficiency.
I slapped a 200 hp 1.3l motor from my wrecked hayabusa onto my 13 foot john boat and ill tell you what, that thing is scarier than hell at half throttle, never even touched full yet.

@@MudMotorsMax I do not understand. the exhaust would be a positive pressure out, not a vacuum, in the exhaust line. What am I not seeing here?

I disagree the water in Thailand and Vietnam is not clean and I’ve seen videos of them running in the straight mud I’m sorry I totally disagree

Aluminum props are very brittle I have broke two this month 😭 anyone know any 6 1/4-7 inch two blade steal props that fit the mud skipper long tail?
