Hi Dane, I passed my test during the week. Your videos helped so much. They were so clear and to the point. Thanks for all the effort you put in to making the videos. I'll be making a donation later today. Thanks again and take care.
Hi Dane passed my test today in finglas watched all your videos the past week and all I can say is thank you 🙏 made everything so much easier to understand and I wasn’t nervous at all 👍🏻
Hi Dayne, I had 4 grade 2 ( hazard) on changing lane as the instructor said that I looked into blind spot and it could pose an hazard. I told him that I was taught to look at blind spot as well and he said you should only look at the mirror. I am confused
Hi Dane, how do you deal with directional arrows. Example: you take an exit on the roundabout and after few hundred metres the road splits into two lanes, left lane is a bus lane and the arrow points to the right lane. Should you indicate right ? Basically single lane becomes two lanes. I don’t see anyone indicating for these
Hi Dane, at the end of the first driving clip, when you changed into the left hand lane to go away from Dunnes to go up Hillstreet, if you stayed in the right lane after the pedestrian crossing to go back down that road that has the right of way would you still apply the same rules and go into the left hand lane first and then change into the right hand lane to go by Dunnes again. Or can you stay in the right hand lane as you’re following the road as you’ve right of way? Not like the opposite side you came down as that was a yield? If that makes any sense? Just concerned that if I came down that road from the side that has the right of way I’d be kinda crossing the lane to go into the left hand lane just to be indicating to go back into the right but I’m just not sure? Your videos are super helpful! Thanks a million, hope you’re having a nice day! :)
Hi Dane! Quick question... changing lanes in dublin there is sometimes traffic in the lane your going into... I slowed down trying to find a gap... and my instructor said I should have kept my speed up... but I was worried id run out of road to get into the lane I needed to so I could turn... should you slow down and stop essentially if no one has let you in and wait until some one let's you in. Im worried your holding up traffic behind you if you stop... but what else can you do.
It depends on the situation but you should keep up your speed if there is little or no chance of you running out of space to get across. If you don't have this luxury you may need to slow down. Whatever you do make sure you have your indicators on.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive I have the same situation. Bus lanes are already queued up as there is a near roundabout however long before people are supposed to. Should I also queue up in the left bus lane or just drive in my own lane and then stop ahead at the right point for someone provide me the gap to let me in?
Seems like you can only go across when the road markings allow, if it's busy you may need to depend on the kindness of strangers. I don't see what other choices you have. You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs.
Hi Dane nice video again .. I have a question when we are driving on a downhill the speed automatically will be increasing without any acceleration press my question is do we need to change the gear or just a gentle break is enough ? For an example imagine we are driving on 20 speed in 2nd gear in a downhill, the speed automatically increased to 40 . So do we need to change the gear to 3rd or leave it on a 2nd gear ?
You could change it to 3rd but stay on the brake at the same time for more control. Unless you are coasting the car is not going to be speeding up excessively on the downhill.
Hi Dane I have my test coming up soon and I have been practising everyday and watching your videos! I just wondered how long does the driving test last? Thank you for all your work!
Hi Dane, might be a silly question but are sunglasses allowed during the test? At the time my test is due to take place, the sun is pretty low down which makes it hard to see sometimes when the sun is shining directly at me. In this case what’s the best thing for me to do? Thank you
Might be better to put them on when the car is safely stopped but there's no rules or guidelines on this. You just have to use your own good judgement and common sense.
Hi Dane, is the blind spot explained here different to the blind spot when moving off? It's different to a side way glance when moving off isn't it? Thanks
Yes both are very different because they are different maneuvers, you need to get a proper look over the shoulder moving off but just a quick sideways glance changing lane.
Hi Dane, as always you’re videos are amazing ! We all appreciate them. I’m having issues with a particular road, speed limit on this road is 60km/h and there are two lanes going straight. I drive in the left lane and after a while it becomes a bus lane, meaning I have to merge back into the right lane. I’m worried that for my driving test the road will be busy and I won’t be able to merge back before bus lane begins. Am I allowed to stop where the bus lane begins or do I drive a bit in the bus lane until I can merge safely.
Try to move over sooner, not ideal to be driving in a bus lane. But it's OK to drive in it sometimes like turning left, you can drive in certain bus lanes depending on if it's a 24 hour bus lane or not.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive thanks Dane, if I was turning left and there was a queue of cars already in the bus lane I would assume I wouldn’t be allowed to go directly into the bus lane and would have to stop where the broken white line (end of bus lane) and hope someone would let me merge
Since when has seeing less in your side view mirrors become better than seeing more. Convex or blindspot mirrors increases your view of your surroundings in all vehicles.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive You said yourself previously blindspot mirrors works on buses trucks and vans. So how do they not work on cars, and why do almost all of todays vehicles have them on????
If people understood how to adjust their mirrors properly there'd be no need for them, a quick shoulder check is better and more realistic. They are fine for buses, trucks and vans because they don't have an easy view out the back and sides. What do you mean- almost all cars have them today? www.drivespark.com/off-beat/why-car-blind-spot-mirrors-are-dangerous-011210.html

Perhaps a quick indication would be useful but it's probably not something that you should worry about too much.

Move over and start in the left lane, it's a new road and you're not crossing any white lines as you go across.
Hi Dave, I fail 1st time last week😜, do you know how much is booking the second one..?
Thanks for your advises, very helpful😊
Sorry to hear that, the cost is the same, the price for applying for the test does not change because it's your second time doing it.

In and around 40 minutes, that includes non-driving aspect of test with theory questions and technical checks.
