I have a '15 Ram 2500, 6.4L. Never had any issues getting the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40 from NAPA or O'Reilly's locally. That said, I switched to Amsoil Signature Series 0W-40 and a K&N-2011 Filter.
My 2015 Ram 2500 Bighorn has a monitor in the instrument panel that tells you how close you are to needing an oil change. It's kind of like a gas guage, where it goes down to the point where you need to change oil. So, is there a reset for this so after you change your oil, it goes back to showing you're good to go?
I spoke to Dodge and they said it was a sealed system and unserviceable. I was asking them because I'm getting close to 100k miles and I am going to be changing plugs, belts, hoses, etc. and going through the drivetrain.
@@RoadandReel i don't believe that it's sealed. I've changed my oil and looked around for some good ideas on how to get it done without having atf falling over me. I see the pan bolts.
@@Jesusisking12011 I'm with you, but I still have about 25k left on my extended warranty. After that, I'll be tearing into this thing. I've seen the same thing and I know how transmissions work enough to know that it can't possibly last a lifetime. Even if all I do is open it up to inspect if, that's enough for me.
For the oil filter? I usually only clean it if there is crud on there left behind by the old filter. Otherwise, I use the oil left on it to help lubricate and seat the new seal.

I've finally been able to find the Pennzoil in stock. It was off the shelves where I'm at for a good 2 years, but I'm glad it's back.
ditch the K&N filter for a WIX..
@@kevin43324332, I've had great luck with K&N oil filters. No need to switch.
Thanks for putting the segment times in. Antici........pating getting a 2016 6.4 2400 4wd and wanted to see the basics for the oil change. You did it.
I'm glad it helps! The hardest part is the filter. Engineers must not change their own oil, but I've seen worse on other vehicles.
this video helped me find the oil filter thanks
You're welcome! Sorry it's in the dark 😁
Love your comments... very entertaining
Thanks!
😂😂😂😂 “Look up the torque specs, I’m sure they’re in there”

Yes, at 13:10 I show you how to reset that oil meter.
Gunk with citrus is a great engine cleaner
That's actually the stuff I picked up. Worked really well and didn't leave a film for the new dirt to stick to.
You’re the man
You should do a video of changing the automatic transmission fluid and filter. I have a 2017 Dodge Ram heavy duty 2500 4×4 6.4 hemi.

You not a fan of wiping off the mounting surface?

how bout for a truck with a foub key less how would you do it just to turn the ignition and press the gas pedal 3 times thank you
Yes, same thing. Just place it in the run/on position, gas pedal 3 times within 10 seconds, turn off, then start. It should reset.
Mobile ones better than Pennzoil anyways
I agree 👍
Anybody know where the damn PCV valve is on my 2017 ram 6.4 hemi?
Remove the cover and it is back towards the firewall toward the passenger side. It's a twist lock and comes right out.
Valve cover cost of the firewall
Order some Amsoil. This meets Chrysler spec and is the correct oil. Mobile one does not meet the specs.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Did he really film this in the dark?
Yes I did. I had a 300 mile fishing trip the next morning and I have a full time job. I bet my neighbors really thought I was weird, 😂

???
Ya lost me when you showed me how to open the hood.
Hey, the dealer that sold me this truck couldn't figure it out so don't think it isn't a thing. 😁
Clean that poor engine
I did, but it never stays clean very long.
Clean the engine bay!
It's clean, now!
