Hey Scott, a Lil tip, I have trouble remembering to take meds and supplements too, so I've set an alarm set for every day on my phone to remind me. Usually I do remember, but the alarm is my backup for those occasions that I forget. ❤
Oh, I could almost "feel" the ocean breeze! One of the things I love about Humboldt County is that depending on what one is in the mood for, one can drive just a few miles and experience either the ocean or the forest. I've never tried Humboldt Bay coffee; I'm going to see if I can find/order online. 😊 Speaking of ordering online, you might be able to order that item online at Target's website and have it shipped to the Eureka store for pickup. I do this sometimes when my local Target is out of stock on an item that I want. Thanks for including us in your day, Scott! I hope you have a lovely week.
Just missed you Scott, kinda, I went to Yosemite for a week, then drove to pt. Reyes national seashore, (very peaceful) then down to Santa Cruz. Just got back in San Diego in time for my cardiologist appointment. Eureka is in my sights, maybe spring so I can continue up to Crater lake Oregon.
You are my escape from reality. Well… ‘where I am’ reality. Drinking a lot of espresso and putting Yellow Bird on school lunches these days. Gotta make it taste good.🍛☕️👩🏾🏫
The plant is 'Ice Plant' and it's extremely invasive and exotic, meaning not native. Its all over NorCal and I believe was brought in to stabilize the dunes. We have a unique 'Moving Dune' ecology here, which you can see clearly at one of those coastal spots where you walk the trail and come out on top of a giant moving dune, and then it's quite a walk out to the water. But you can see how the dune takes over the forest about a foot a month. Those trees are very old, but dwarf in size. This ongoing dune migration is halted by the ice plants and disrupts the ecology.
If I ever see Yellow Bird in Canada, I would absolutely give it a try. Wow man, that beach was looking good and it's awesome you had the place to yourself!
If you regularly shop at Target get their app. You might be able to order the bag you want and have it shipped to the store free. I’ve had to do that before. Love the new gray shirt!
I have the same pill container thing, have used it for years. If my morning routine gets messed up it is a good way to check and make sure I have taken my pills.
This weekend i had a conversation with a person who claimed that light roast is stronger than dark roast. He said everybody has it backwards. (???) Sidenote, i got an aeropress today because of you and i love it. I found a little shop in Black Creek, Wisconsin and bought a large light roast bag from here to give her some local love ❤ 😊
I get a kick out of you, I think i will call you a Modification Master 😊 Beautiful views and the sound of the waves for me is so nice! Thank you also for sharing your tater tip, those enchiladas look yummy and oh so quick! This was so nice!
I thought the same thing when I saw that shirt, too light and should be closer to the grey shirt you’re wearing. That’s the same color I’m wearing right now. I found a few flannel shirts at Walmart the past couple of years, both hooded and not, but a black/grey plaid, not a solid color like you have.
My advice as a Ram Promaster City Wagon owner 34,000 mi. 2017: Start getting quotes on a new or rebuilt transmission and scoping out where to get it done and stay bc it will take two or more days if you want to keep the van. Got to find the right shop though. And yes, my transmission is also wonky and takes a bit of time. I think I may try to shift it gently thru its gears before driving for now on. B/c it's sticky at first use.
I need one of those pill organizers. I alternate some of my supplements and some are daily... and like you I often forget about certain ones. Plus for travel those organizers would really help save space. Glad to see you are doing well.
Hey Scott I know you probably already know this but I'm going to say it anyway because it might help others. If you have to warm up your van to get it to shift you are low on transmission fluid AND you should visit a transmission shop. My man is a mechanic my brother is one and most of the family is mechanical. Also I have had another boyfriend who was a mechanic. So as you can imagine some of this stuff has rubbed off on me.😂 Just to be sure I asked Ron (my guy) about it and he said that I'm right. Don't want to sound like a Debbie Downer but your van needs to go to the Doctor. In the meantime keep his fluids up. Happy trails 😊
A lot of newer transmissions are sealed with no way of adding or checking the fluid. The manufacturer claims that the fluid is good for the life of the transmission. This van has one of those types of transmissions. The only way to change the fluid is to remove the transmission from the engine. In talking to different shops, it seems the honest mechanics don’t want to replace the fluid in my case because they feel the transmission will stop working. I’ve spoken to some dishonest mechanics that claim that they can simply drain and refill the fluid, which of course isn’t possible due to the design of the transmission.
@@StaticCamperVan from what I know both are the right answer for some of the newer ones. However it really means that they designed it to just wear out and die. That totally sucks! Unfortunately sounds like you are going to have to replace it. It might be worth the expense rather than spending a lot more on a new van unless you are just totally done with this one. Best wishes for your continued adventures. We really enjoy your videos and your knowledge about coffee ☕️😃
@SarahTree the bigger issue is the engine. Chrysler still hasn’t come up for a fix to solve the engineering problem that is causing premature engine failure. It’s more likely that the engine will fail before the transmission
@@StaticCamperVan oh wow! That is really bad. Sorry to hear that. The newest Chrysler van that I have ever owned was a 1996. Ron says that anything newer than a 2012 in any vehicle out there are not something he wants to work on or own. My cut off is around 2007😅 I'm sure that there are newer cars and trucks that are just fine out there that last more than 100,000 miles but other than Toyota/ Lexus $$$$ I don't know of any. I think that vehicles were lasting too long so the car makers decided to make them disposable so people had to buy them more often. Maybe find an older Toyota mini van. The old 4x4s from the 80s are still pretty great if you can find one. Or even some of the newer ones are good too since you don't do much off roading. We've loved every Toyota that we have ever had. Right now Ron uses an old 1987 Toyota pickup for his work truck. It has over 300,000 miles on it and it's still kicking. I'm sure you have something figured out. I just wanted to put my 2 cents in. Again good luck with everything 🙂
I love gray, moody weather, too. Now that there's a nip in the air, and once we got some actual rain, I realized I'd been waiting for summer to end all summer long lol. I haven't explored Eureka fully. I try to nose around a little more each time I pass through. Last time I was there, I discovered Samoa Dunes Rec Area, which I really enjoyed. For me, there are few things more satisfying while cooking than a couple of fried eggs easily sliding out of a cs pan onto a plate! Thanks for the vicarious thrill:)
Hi Scott. I'm a kindred coffee snob, too. I know that you have experimented with decaf coffee, so I wondered if you could be so BRAVE as to try instant coffee?? I always keep a small container of Folgers Classic Coffee Crystals and, I have to be honest, I think it tastes pretty damn good. Not amazing like fresh roasted beans that have been freshly ground, but a nice backup when I really don't feel like weighing and grinding my favorite beans. It might be an interesting foray into the interesting (and inexpensive) world of instant coffee. We lived in the UK for five years and I was amazed how many people use instant instead of ground coffee.
I’ve drank a lot of instant coffee in the past. I think it is lacking in flavor. It’s also very difficult to find a light roast instant. Also part of what I like about coffee is the brewing process. Taking ten minutes and focusing on nothing but brewing a cup of coffee is a very enjoyable experience for me

Oh my gosh 😮 I accidentally put in under a reply last night... I deleted it😅 please forgive me Scott.. A good morning to you the scenery of the sun above the oceans just absolutely breathtaking❤ My question was because we were talking about mechanics / minivans rule🌞Toyota older model...moving van currently 😁 I am moving into a place right now that currently has free electrical car hookups so I was asking you what you thought of the electric cars? As I am going to do a switch As I become a part-timer I'm even thinking about going back into a mini Toyota RV which is currently resting by the salvation mountain, I painted the waterfall with Leonard Knight ❤I personally love the desert ...Joshua Tree area during the winter and that whole surrounding area is just absolutely awesome.. Do you plan on doing some free camping out in our lovely California desert, I have two questions now Scott😂 back to huevos rancheros made with my leftover chili from last night🌞 supplement time and break from the screen after having the phone right by my head for 15 years on the road I'm now able to put it in another room far away from me hooray what would we do without all these devices oops another question🌞
I don’t know enough about electric vehicles to have any strong opinions. Cool that you got to meet Leonard. I don’t have any plans on ever returning to Southern California. NorCal suits me better.
@@StaticCamperVan understandable , I love many areas of Calif, I have a serious bone prob that needs dryer cool , not cold or hot , I turned around in Oregon , too damp and my vans sensitive as well ( we get plenty of rain and just a bit of snow ) at the place , Im getting ready 🌞 now. Fall is beautiful 🌻🍃🎃 cheers , love, peace, joy be with you along the way ❤
💜 absolutely beautiful scenery that you shared with us with this video. Well, you do that often. But it was very beautiful and I love the red plants hoping someone will know what they are… Have a wonderful rest of your week! Oh, and by the way, I was thinking with the supplements perhaps you can place them near your coffee… Can’t imagine that you would forget to take them then :-)
@@StaticCamperVan I did a quick screenshot of the plants and my iPhone said it was a sour fig. But sour fig is considered tropical, so I am not sure that it would be growing there…? But maybe because you have sun, warmth and there’s generally a lot more moisture there in the Pacific Northwest. Regardless, it’s really beautiful. What a gorgeous place to be walking through. I am going to go look up ice plants now.
I've never considered Eureka a dangerous town either, but then again, I've never been down to old town at night near the bars. And I can't do hot sauce, its hard on my inners. Besides, chilies are in the Nightshade family of plants which are known for making their own form of pesticide, so to speak. And that looks like an Ice Plant variety which grows in sandy soil along the coast and used for erosion control. It blooms in June and sometimes again in Oct...until the next one and travel on !!
Excellent information! The cost of living here is pretty steep, but it's worth it. 😊 I've seen your enchiladas before, and they still look like my mom's. ❤ The only name I can think of for the plants on the dunes is iceplant. They're an invasive species which are going to be eradicated. They do change color with fall, and they bloom a lot, but I would like to see the dunes in their native state. The grasses are also going, being another invasive species. I love the weather here too! 😊
Maybe put magnets or velcro on the pill organizer to keep it handy and visible?? I also have to keep my meds in view as well as a twice daily alarm on my phone.
My audi does the same thing when it's cold with the transmission. When it warms up, it is just fine. This is actually pretty common in cold weather. Your fluids are getting thicker. Keep on warming your vehicle up and you should be just fine.
Nice weather for the coast, soon its gray skies all the time. I think its called ice plant or stone plant, pretty flowers. Snow coming in the sierras soon.😊
I take some important daily supplements too..... I was told to take them in the Middle of my Meal.... So that they get Metabolized along with the Meal.... Good luck Remembering to take them.....
If you haven't done so... make sure you check the fluid level of your transmission! It wouldn't be a bad idea to have the transmission fluid and filter changed too. Cheers from Michigan!
Enjoyed your video as usual. I bought some yellow bird sriracha sauce it's the blue agave kind. I love it, thanks for recommending yellow bird . Take care
These transmissions need to be partially removed from the engine to replace the fluid. There’s no way of even checking the level without doing so. But the worse part is the engine is in much worse condition than the transmission
Yup - you are on no one's clock - do things in your own time. One of my auto immune diseases requires a load of supplements but I also take some scrips too. So I too use one of those. Still I sometimes forgot, so I set an alarm on my phone for daily - around the time that I've already had a coffee, so I'm not taking them on an empty stomach. It's working. Oh I did enjoy the sound of the waves. By the way, 1200 people may have already told you, but we tend to call that a jade plant and I think it turns red if it' has been frozen - but it could be that it cooked in the heat. Not certain. Another terrific video Scott. I hope you find some suitable bags next time you travel.

Oh, and by the way, I was thinking with the supplements perhaps you can place them near your coffee… Can’t imagine that you would forget to take them then :-)
Comment just said it is Ice Plant
I have the pill container double sided. I just love it. So it is a plus for me.
Maybe put magnets or velcro on the pill organizer to keep it handy and visible?? I also have to keep my meds in view as well as a twice daily alarm on my phone.
Im going to make enchiladas your way. Look good and easier. Beautiful succulent plants.
Thanks for a day in the life. Gee wiz - I'm going to have to try making enchiladas!
You should!
Ahh, safe, safe Eureka! Oh, and maybe change the transmission fluid....😉
Your hair looks great today. I like the new shirt.
Thanks Sally
LOL “ gloopy”. Like Augustus?
Thrift shops have a lot of flannel shirts (at least in SoCal😄). Probably can find a 100% cotton.
I buy so few clothes that I prefer to buy new
@@StaticCamperVanI get that.
My audi does the same thing when it's cold with the transmission. When it warms up, it is just fine. This is actually pretty common in cold weather. Your fluids are getting thicker. Keep on warming your vehicle up and you should be just fine.
Those succulents look like senecio/blue chalksticks. When they turn yellow/red, they're said to be sun-stressed. Gorgeous when they are stressed.
The plant is called Iceplant which is a succulent and invasive but very pretty.
Been to eureka, love the weather out there!
Beautiful scenery of the ocean!
Thanks Karen
Nice weather for the coast, soon its gray skies all the time. I think its called ice plant or stone plant, pretty flowers. Snow coming in the sierras soon.😊
Oh cool thanks
I take some important daily supplements too.....
I was told to take them in the Middle of my Meal....
So that they get Metabolized along with the Meal....
Good luck Remembering to take them.....
If you haven't done so... make sure you check the fluid level of your transmission! It wouldn't be a bad idea to have the transmission fluid and filter changed too. Cheers from Michigan!
These transmissions are sealed. The only way to check the fluid is to partially remove the transmission from the engine
@@StaticCamperVanwow! I’m so used to driving old stuff that I didn’t know they sealed these transmissions nowadays. Crazy!
Enjoyed your video as usual. I bought some yellow bird sriracha sauce it's the blue agave kind. I love it, thanks for recommending yellow bird . Take care
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching Nancy
Thanks!
Thanks Gilibob. I hope you’re having a great week with some good coffee
Don't forget to take your supplements!!!😊
The new pill box is working well!
@StaticCamperVan awesome!!!! Sleep well, my friend !
I've done some US 1 in Oregon, but I'd like to check out Eugene and Bend the next time I go.
Get that transmission serviced change the transmission oil and filter and add a transmission additive like lucas transmision oil additive.
I believe Ice Plant is correct as it has been suggested previously. Thanks Liz
I would love to know where you got the "teapot" you use to heat water.
That’s a Hario Pour Over Coffee Kettle. I’ve had it for about twenty years so don’t remember exactly where I bought it. Maybe William Sonoma.
amazon has that unit
Nice beach!!!!
