Awesome video. Thanks for taking the time to help people understand what and how to get this done. I’ve been nervous to start my build but you have encouraged me to finally start.
Love your content so much. Question, I noticed you did the sweet patina blackout brush paint for the front suspension, but for the rest of the truck you went back to using Rustoleum (your typical process). Was that for cost or time savings? Or perhaps the gloss finish shows too many imperfections? I'm trying to decide how to paint my frame and suspension. For sure one big bonus for brush on style is not having overspray to deal with.
The front is easier to brush instead of spray. I really like the truck bed coating for the rear. It does help Hide imperfections and I prefer the matte finish.
@@SIMPLE.C10yeah I prefer the matte finish too. I have the Sweet Patina here that I ordered but having second thoughts on doing the ENTIRE frame with it.
It’s important to verify the correct length of the Tinworks trailing arms. I was surprised how far the front rod end had to be unscrewed to equal the length of the stock trailing arms.
I agree to verify everything whether replacing factory parts or installing a completely custom setup. Thankfully in my case I can make it whatever length I want it to be since I’ll be shortening the driveshaft and mounting the bags in a different location. Thanks for your input!
Just wondering, would using a level (vertically) on the edge of the axle housing to find the edge of the housing. Transfer that mark to the frame, then measure back from the mark half the dia of the axle should find the mid point? Like your video! New subscriber!
What welder did you use 120v OR 220V ? Also when you did your front set up conversion the tire rods in the brake kit upgrade won't fit into the original front drag link I'm doing 73-87 conversion for a 63 c10 not sure if i skipped over didn't see anyone upgrade their drag link when converting front brake and suspension.
I used a 220. Tie rods may need upgraded depending on the style and year spindle you convert to. I usually swap out the ball joints and tire rods when I convert.
On 22s the Velaworks block is 4 inch. It depends on what size wheels. On 20s a 3 would be the largest to not have scrub issues. On smaller wheels, you need to have a smaller block. Scrub issues are when the trailing arm or u bolt stick below the rim and could drag the ground if you had a flat.
I watched this video several times, but I still ended up with my notch being to far forward which left bag mount almost at the edge of the notch. Any suggestions for mounting the bags?
@@GregMcRae-s8n all my frames were standard. I know their arms will work with short or long bed because the trailing arms are the same length. When you shorten a truck the correct way it moves the trailing arm crossmember to under the cab. If that’s how you did it then it’s correct.
@SIMPLE.C10 Thanks for the feedback your videos are awesom. I just picked up a 1965 C10. You have pretty much laid a blueprint to build a cool truck. I'm sure I'll have a few questions along the way, thanks again.
You’re right. This was early on in my welding experience. They might be ugly but they held well and I learned alot from my experience. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it. It’s encouraging going back and seeing where you were a few years ago and how hard work and practice can pay off!
Can you also let me know exactly which wire wheels brushes to use for prepping my frame?
I get the cheap pack at harbor freight
@ thank you Travis
Thats some professional work u got done there boss🫡🔥🔥👏🏼
Thank you!

Thanks so much for this comment. I really appreciate it!
Good job. I would have drilled or holesaw holes to run the tubing or pipe through to make stronger.
Nice suggestion

Use a silver sharpie. Marks on any dark object and doesn't interfere with your welds.
Thanks. The white marker is made for welding as well.

Awesome video, answered all the questions I had
Great! Thanks for watching.
Awesome! Can't wait for the next video!
Thanks for watching!
Eso es todo carnal felicidades por tu proyecto, un saludo desde México

Not sure I’m following. Do whatever you can to find center.
Wanna help me do a Velaworks torsion bar removal kit and full bag set up on my 62 gmc.. that truck is looking amazing
Thanks A lot! Eventually I’ll do a 60-62
I have a donor truck you can work on and I will buy the parts.
Great , great , great video !!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot for watching!
Wondering where u got the 66 c10 work truck I am in Alabama and had one just like it I think it may be the same one
Thanks for emailing me. So cool that I have your old truck. I bought it from a local guy here in Murfreesboro.
what did you do to keep rear end centered? what kind of arm?
@@DallasRCracing watts link I have available on my website www.simplec10.co also have multiple videos on it.
Is the truck in the driveway on the channel?
Yes. It’s the first videos I ever made

nice vid once again 👌

Will I run into issues with pinion angle if I run the Velaworks step notch with a stock trailing arm cross member?
Nonissues with pinion angle, but you will need to cut the top loop of your trailing arm crossmember because the driveshaft will hit it.

SO DID YOUR TRUCK BED LINE UP LOL?

will 2" blocks work on the rear or does it have to be 3"?

Do the Tinworks trailing arms work if you've cut the frame for a short box?
Depends on where you cut the frame. If you cut between the trailing arm crossmember and front half then it should.
@@SIMPLE.C10 Was your frame cut down or standard length?
