- What a fantastic way to kick off the new year! I've had my eye on this game ever since I first saw footage of it in 2022, and initially I thought it was gonna be some hyped fan project that would end up being abandoned or left on indefinite hiatus like a lot of other MegaMan fangames, but boy was I proven wrong. The sprite work and animation are absolutely gorgeous, and a few levels from the original (namely Gigabolt Manowar's stage) underwent some QoL changes to make them less egregious and actually enjoyable.
The developer of this game must have been super dedicated and worked tirelessly on it with so much love and appreciation, as a gift to all of us die-hard MegaMan fans who had collectively given up hope for the series as a whole. Thank you so very much! Can't wait for its completion!

Hey @MegaMetalManX are you planning to put in 16-bit MMX Styled Remixed Music as well? 🎵🎶:If so maybe make a deal with @Dracula9Antichapel (His Lumine Battle 1 remix is amazing!) There's also; @JX, @LegendOfRenegade, or even @Mega SFC.(That is if you can't do it yourself..)
That's not up to me. That would be up to the creator whether they wanted to do that or not. I had nothing to do with the development of this game@@zeableunam

Hoping one day we can see an X7 demake, it could really benefit from it, just look how amazing this one turned out, I imagine this is what a hypothetical X9 would’ve looked like if Capcom continued cashing in on our Nostalgia like they did with Megaman 9 and 10, despite it just being an X8 Demake at the end of the day.
Really glad to see Man-O-War and Yeti having actual stages. Looking forward to the final stages.
Gotta love how they replaced it with bland and annoying stages with gimmicks that don't matter!!!
@loganmcglynn9950 I didn't mind Yeti's stage that much. But yeah. Man-o-War was an pain in the butt. I did not like that stage.
The fact Gigabolt Man-O-War's level doesn't give me the sudden urge to off myself when seeing it in public makes this demake a direct upgrade from the original X8.
Honesty impressive how they can simulate 3D effects with the lasers. TERRIBLE flashbacks to that one section in X3 with the crushers though.
Also FINALLY you can go down the shaft in Burn Rooster's stage without having to spam airborne Axl Bullet every two seconds.
I have a new appreciation for the x8 OST. Panda's theme goes so hard. This is such a cool project.
Finished this game today and i cant describe the feel of playing a new Megaman X, the guy behind this project is incredible in game development
He's literally refusing to add Zero, Axl, New Game+, the shop system, and dozens of other mechanics because he says it'd "Take too long." No SHIT, it's called MAKING A GAME. It takes TIME. But he wants to rush it out so there can "Be the first mega man fangame in a decade".

This game is simply fantastic! It's a shame there's no Zero or Axel. But all the work is paying off.

I can understand ignoring Axl. But Zero has been around since the first X game…wouldn’t be an X identity without him.

If Capcom ever returns to the series, I hope they take note from the community and return to roots also. I have started to appreciate and enjoy the last couple games in the series but maaaaaan there is something so charming about the 16-bit X.

The original game was released 20 years ago. I am pretty sure that, if this project is done before this year ends, it would be a way to commemorate Megaman X8's twentieth anniversary. Like many who have commented before me, I can't wait for this demake to be completed, but as they say, the best things in life take time. Besides, a polished game is at least three times as good as a rushed one.
Common complaint stages are "too large" but going Bamboo Pandemonium first, you can take advantage the spaces. Think it a Chill Penguin capsule anyone new or lost as X8 Demake is indeed challenging. Absolute blast worth a 2nd run challenging armorless
Definitely X9-like vibes returning old style this demake. Can't wait next update felt like last year zipped fast on this with style

MegaMan x9 should just be a demake with the idea being that X hits his head and canonically imagined it as 16 bit

I've just finished watching you defeat the man-of-war maverick and everything looks amazing! So far, I absolutely love how you can truly utilize the cycle. It's not as fragile, and there's a lot more adventure to be had with it! Great improvement!
I also loved the second boss stage. I hadn't realized how much of a crutch walls are. Using them is second nature to any X fan. Not having walls and a very short platform while the maverick has free range and speed makes me feel so much more vulnerable. I haven't felt that way since I first started playing in 1995! I can hardly wait to finish this video. Absolutely superb work and gameplay!
I wonder how this game will handle the final battle...

Some of these levels look alot less annoying than the original so that's a huge plus!
I'm so glad they made adjustments to the weapons and armor parts so that they are all more useful and significant. They did some buffs and nerfs to the H armor too.. better buster and body part but the leg parts are nerfed so that it only works on ground dash. Even the leg parts of the Icarus armor grants a double jump/air dash which is better than just making x jump higher.. this is a great demake that adjusts what the original is lacking in some parts.

Optic Sunflower's weapon's charge attack uses a sound effect from Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

The oreder I recommend going is Panda < Ant < Trillbyte < Yeti < Sunflower < Man-O-War < Mantis < Rooster
Panda is the easiest and his weapon can be good against bosses like Antonion and Yeti.
On my TV the game is completely jagged and only the CRT filter is available, which sucks! How did you remove the jaggedness from the game? One note, my TV is LED 1080p 60hz.
I’d love to see a remake using X4-X6 engine, that’s when I thought the graphics were their best

It would have been nice to see the Jakob Orbital Elevator and Sigma's Palace on the moon. Just imagine what the boss battles with Sigma and Lumine would have been like. Thanks for keeping the OST of X8 in tact.
Would have preferred the Sega Saturn/PS1 era graphics as that is the best the series ever looked, but I'll take the SNES era over the weird art direction they went in for X8.

I want the other characters to be playable, as either teams, or solo, as well. Layer, Palette, and Alia are pretty good in their own rights.

Considering the girls are just palette swaps for the original trio and ways to play the regular cast but doubled, I don't see them being brougjt in this. But zero/axl might still be considered by the devs. The tools for making them all exist already, it would just need some touch-ups

i just finshed the demo this morning and i got to say the work was very well made ! the 1v8 boss rush caught me by surprise but after a few tries i was able to defeat 5 out of 8 . problem was the game glitched and i was stuck unable to more or being damaged by the bosses. so i had 3 of them just constantly spamming attacks while i wasn't able to move or die.
I hope this doesn't end like the megaman X corrupted that has been in development for over a decade, I'm willing to donate for this! also demake of X5 fixing it's issues and making it a fast pace game would be beautiful! also also make X crouch! idkwhy they removed that feature in x8, crapcom went full Dumb going backwards

From fellow fan creator to fellow fan creator I just wanna let you know that if you don't add Zero or Axl people are just gonna mod them into your game. that's what happened with my game people moded it. so if you don't want people to bastarize it then just add the core game. just a warning because you have such a beautiful piece here and I will hate to see someone else put a stain on it.
the part where you drop the ride armor onto the conveyor belt was a total kaizo mario world moment
I really like how the dark mantis fight is done. He looks way more menacing.
Was able to beat the final boss rush with a few sub-tanks, and just spamming panda's weapon. Only 1 boss has to die, and it'll go into the stage clear animation. Nothing happens after sadly.

Damn the Dark Mantis stage may be my favorite Mega Man franchise level of all time? It has such a perfect covert ops vibe
I feel that the Man-o-war stage should've had auto-scrolling flying sections. It would've been more faithful to the original and would actually work well in 2D.

I think Gigabolt Manowar's stage could have been better. To me it just visually feels like, slightly more animated and kinda purple-ish MMX1 highway stage. I was looking forward to the Neo Kobe, Coruscant looking Cyberpunk city but in 16-bit, not just a really well done reskin of those original sprites. I mean, it was nice to see the floating advertisements/billboards from the original but it seems like that is the only thing that really carried over. I'm also not sure why the standard ride chaser was used instead of the flying one for the demake.
Its odd considering how much work went into the sprites and backgrounds in OTHER stages. It almost seems like there was simply more focus on making the stage as different from the original as possible..while not really carrying much over of what little about it was actually cool. *Shrugs*
I was expecting the same. Especially the flying ride chaser through the city skyscraper. I think it can be done. Especially in MMX4, X5, X6, 32-bit mode.

Just tried doing it myself. You need to either use Pandamonium's weapon to break the spikes, or lure the Ride Metall enemy over to you and shoot you, then use the i-frames to ignore the spikes
While I love the original sprites from x-x3 I wish they would of added the sprites from x4-x6

I do have a few criticisms, despite how well made this is. Personally I would have liked to have seen X's weapons from the original buffed like the Drift Diamond and Squeeze Bomb have been here, instead of outright replaced by brand new ones, though I do like how some are clearly inspired by Axl's weaponry, since he's no longer in the game.
As for the stages, I feel like a lot of them have lost what made them interesting or unique in the original. Gigabolt Man-O-War's stage is changed for the better, but it does feel like just another ride chaser stage next to Avalanche Yeti. Earthrock Trilobyte's is by far the weakest, the signature mechaniloid race is cut short and replaced with some really bland platforming. Gravity Antonion's is... Shorter? I'm not a fan of how you can't take the ride armour through doors in Bamboo Pandemonium's stage, part of the challenge of collecting all the items there is preserving the ride armor throughout the whole thing, and if you were really good you could even bring it into the boss arena. Also the puzzle to turn on the lights in Dark Mantis' level is flat out removed, why? I do like Optic Sunflower's though, a nice nod to X4.
