With you describing the Icarus and Hermes armors as chips, it makes me think the Neutral Armor is a framework capable of integrating various armor data and adapting the framework to accommodate. I think X or Alia is implanting the Ultimate Armor data into the Neutral Armor framework to have this ace-in-the-hole power in a more durable/advanced framework.
Honestly Copy X armoring up feels more like 1st armor when it comes to its visual design, mostly abundance of white coloring, but well other features seem to fit the bill, I also gotta love the fact both mangas brought up here are showing Zero without helmet XD And for favorite design, a strong tie between the original X4-6 and Command Mission

It one hit kills all enemies. The only reason why the boss retains a few HP is because X8 have damage gates to make sure that the boss uses its desperate attack before dying.
It’s strong but they just recolor neutral armor to purple to replace original ultimate armor instead of creating a new model. That’s like budgeting the game.

i'd like to think the dive (and subsequent next dive) armor for x are based on the ultimate armor. particularly the next dive armor which can have the nova strike on steriods for his secondary skill.
along with the fact that, like the fourth armor that the ultimate armor turns into in the manga, it has the 4th armor's ability to shoot 4 charge shots in a row off a single charge.
If you take into account that the Ultimate wasn't complete, I think it would make sense for Neutra's system to be something like a stabilizer since it can store the Hermes and Icarrus Chips and use them together, so this armor would complete the Ultimate, allowing the agent saw the real potential of Ultimate, having infinite energy and abysmal power.

A buddy of mine always used the Ultimate Armor for his playthroughs of X4-X6, when I was first getting into those games I didn't know they were an option cause of the codes, but when I actually tried them myself I chose to not use them as they just broke the games, but I do think that its unfair that Zero never got his ultimate armor, but he at least got the Absolute Zero transformation in Command Mission, but AXL who was the other elite hunter of the trio never got anything aside from the Lumine color scheme in X8, and I think they should have given him some other kind of transformation for Command Mission, since he was already broken as he was there it wouldn't have broken the game anymore.
So, my thoughts on the Ultimate Armour: X4: This is the incomplete version, and X doesn't canonically recieve it, or he puts it away because it's causing him physical stress. X5: This is the complete version, tuned up and no longer dangerous to use. This is signalled by it gaining a colour scheme closer to his original one. X6: Honestly? My best guess is that it's just the X5 armour but it got a bit scorched post-X5 finale. He decides it can still be used if you use the code. X8: Yunno, I like your idea of it being the True Potential of the Neutral armour, as it's purple lights mix the red and blue, and the gold fins and details look like the base Neutral colour ones, but shinier. That, plus the Icarus Head part ability can arguably be seen as a basis for the X8 Nova Strike. However, I do also think that it IS using components from the earlier Ultimate Armour, and may be a new version or rebuild. So I suppose it's a mix of all three. Also, the Plasma Shot in X8 really sucks and makes me sad. ._. Command Mission: Okay, so I actually had this thought WHILE watching your video... I'm beginning to wonder if the CM Ultimate Armour was made by someone else, not Dr. Light. Firstly, it's EASILY the most weapon-ey armour in the whole franchise, and second, you never get it from Dr. Light, as he doesn't even show up in CM. Dr. Light is GOOD at making weapons, sure, but it's not something he LIKES doing, and he already said that the previous Ultimate Armour was his most powerful, combat-oriented one. And this one's totally different. I don't know WHO made it, but it wasn't Dr. Light, I think.
Does my heart good to see someone else knows of the Mega Armor toy series and has a pretty comprehensive collection of them. Wish the Figuarts lineup reached the same coverage the former line did, but they are worthy successors. Do like the X4-5 version of the Ultimate Armors the most since they keep X's blue coloration and the added transparency is a great nod to all those old toy variants.
My best guess for the ultimate armor in X8, is that it's a bit of both your ideas. Going with the theory that the armor was degraded by use and then dormant in X7, Alia and or X could have used what remained to make the neutral armor.
Very nice video! From just playing the games I've always thought X canonically gets the Ultimate armor in X5 to fight Zero and maybe Sigma. Then, because it's incomplete, it either gets destroyed or becomes unusable after the mission. And because it is in X6 too, I like to think Alia tried repairing what's left of it and that's why it loses it's color(becomes black and white instead of blue and gold, giving it a bit of a deteriorated look imo), but it didn't really go well so the actual armor never shows up again.
I never really liked the ultimate armor as being the superlative. It didn't really have any stand alone uniqueness . It was just cheap because of it's unlimited nova strike. It would be cool if it's features were unique and not shared with the 4th armor. The armor that truly struck me as ultimate was the third armor because of how much care was put into it.
Imo X Challenge Ultimate Armor is what the Ultimate Armor could've been like if fully complete, not to mention most of X's Armors have a white color scheme to them, except the Ultimate Armor, and Ninja Armor.

I love Ultimate Armor in every forms. For X8, it is just an absolute beast of destruction. I also think it was called Ultimate Armor as in the true power of the Neutral Armor like you said. But if we take manga version as a canon then it is just the program of the armor taking the form that X mental state at the time conveniently imagine it to be. In X4 it is an edgy armor because he need absolute fire power to deal with the repliforce and since X5-6 is not far off then he retain its form just like that because it is convenient for him. He took a back seat in X7 is the reason why he did not use the Ultimate Armor. He did not need it. In X8, the Ultimate Armor look exactly like the Neutral Armor because it is convenient for him to reload the program, combine it with the Neutral Armor 2 forms and be done with it.
In regards to the Ultimate Armour being "Incomplete" it's possible that for each armour piece Dr. Light does simulations to make sure X's systems and soul can handle them and every piece that is normally found in each of the games passing the tests but with the Ultimate Armour he was always too scared to properly test it and thus has no idea what could happen which is why he gives that warning in X4 and in regards to X finding it in X5 we could say that X was worried the armours could get corrupted by the new Zero Virus so he went unarmoured to try to minimize the threat he might possess in case Zero needed to take him out but Dr.Light was too worried for X's safety so put it in a hidden location so it is there if X REALLY needed it. Sorry for no grammar stuff English was literally one of my worst lessons back in school hahahaha
It's kinda nuts to me that there was actually plans for a Zero Ultimate Armor, yet it was left on the cutting room floor for even something designed to pull from nearly everything in Mega Man X with Mega Man X DiVE... I also headcanon that X technically did get the Ultimate Armor instead of the Force Armor in X4 and uses it in X5, and the reason for its discoloration in X6 was because the fight does end with X/Zero exploding, but even so, only X's Armor is what is really destroyed, and while it's destroyed, Alia tries recreating the Armor as a replica, but due to the factors of X and his Armors being highly unanalyzable in tandem with there being so little, and even then, possibly so much of it is corrupted because of the Viruses in Zero Space, the X6 take is what we were able to get, and it was considered an objective downgrade due to the lack of infinite ammo. If I'm wrong, though, please let me know
the only thing the ultimate armor has above the 3rd, is its unlimited novas, but even with them, the golden 3rd with the zero saber is still stronger, as it can literaly 2-shot anything in game. without any drawback. it also has better mobility, as you can double dash. sure the charged buster is not as strong, but the saber more than make up for it.
I agree that the third armor has better movement options. I'd also say the unlimited special weapon use in X4 gives the Ultimate Armor another improvement. The saber isn't part of the armor. X can use it without getting a single upgrade. That's more of Zero's aaber being OP in game, it being used by X or Zero, than the armor being strong.
@@RockmanHQ the thing is, we see C using the saber with and without the 3rd armor. and its clear how much the 3rd armor enhances it. something that doesnt happen when x uses the ultimate armor in x6. as for if its part of the armor or not, i see it as the same case for the arm part we get from zero in x1 if we get to vile without that upgrade. its literaly the same exact thing that happens, but instead of the arm, zero give us the saber.
I'm a bit torn on the ultimate armor you see on the Megaman Zero series. One thing I like about that series' art style to begin with, is how sleek it is. Characters seem smaller and don't have as much armor to them. With that said, I... really don't like the wings on X's ultimate helmet. Just seems too busy... and I know that ultimate armor is be design, more extravagant than your default stuff, but I wish they'd toned it down a bit... juuuuust a bit. Lol
I too refuse calling that Ultimate Armor in X8, hence I usually said Neutral Armor Ultimate Part XD But if the degradation theory is true and that is the reason for it absent in X7, then it make sense that when X get the Neutral Armor, Alia installed it with past Ultimate Armor data inside it, because normal Ultimate Armor is can't be used anymore :3
Hypermodes are very likely force metal transformations that push a reploid to the limit. the transformations for X and Zero are just that extreme due to how powerful they are id also say that the neutral armor is likely a reconstruction of the ultimate armor built with X, as he is, in mind. in normal play the only managed to create the case to house the ultimate power and two sets of components that emulated half-ish the power of the true armor
I’d love to see how the X4, X5, X6, X7 and X8 Boxarts would look with X’s full armor set. It could be tricky since starting with X4 and onwards X can get 2 different armors like Fourth and Ultimate even if it’s a cheat code. I miss how X1, X2, and X3 teased the full armors on the Boxarts, now that I think about it I think they did it for the US Boxarts. Correct me if I’m wrong.
While you can use a code to get the Ultimate Armor in X8, you can also get it after defeating the final boss as X (don’t remember if it has to be on hard mode specifically).
I feel like the ultimate armor is kinda getting weaker with its ammo and the NOVA STRIKE and kinda understand what doctor light ment saying it's unfinished like the armor can't use its full power after a mission completely on like with x5 and x6 its like the armor isn't become well ultimate I guess but still I think its pretty powerful.
Ultimate Armor is overrated for me. The name is too overpowered, but the most overpower feature was only unlimited Nova Strike. His buster was so powerful, but I think Third Armor Gold Version's buster was better. His leg couldn't dash upward as well as Third Armor. And his helmet had no feature, no radar nor GPS, no feature like the Fourth Armor. His body was ok I guess, because of his unlimited Giga Attack, but his defense was no better than Third Armor Gold Version
Ultimate Armor feels like a downgrade from Shadow Armor in X6. I find it interesting how Dr. Light also gives Zero his black Armor in X5, right before the fight with X. It's like Dr. Light knew they would eventually fight and work things out again.
Regarding Ultimate Armor in X8... it seems to be both, an "unlocked" Neutral Armor, with components of the Ultimate Armor. As stated, it gains Plasma Shot and Nova Strike functionality, plus the equivalent of Mega Man 11's "Awakener Chip" which allows infinite use of Maverick Weapons - even when charged. X already has air dash innately at this point, and I figure that implementing the hover ability would seem a little too similar to Axl. It is also interesting that the Shoryuken from X2 returns with this... although, there is unused game data for X and Alia saying "Hadoken!" as well! That would have been neat to see, but maybe OP when the Nova Strike itself is now capable of taking a boss down to 1 HP.

X8 is the Fusion of both
While you can use a code to get the Ultimate Armor in X8, you can also get it after defeating the final boss as X (don’t remember if it has to be on hard mode specifically).
I feel like the ultimate armor is kinda getting weaker with its ammo and the NOVA STRIKE and kinda understand what doctor light ment saying it's unfinished like the armor can't use its full power after a mission completely on like with x5 and x6 its like the armor isn't become well ultimate I guess but still I think its pretty powerful.
Ultimate Armor is overrated for me. The name is too overpowered, but the most overpower feature was only unlimited Nova Strike.
His buster was so powerful, but I think Third Armor Gold Version's buster was better.
His leg couldn't dash upward as well as Third Armor.
And his helmet had no feature, no radar nor GPS, no feature like the Fourth Armor.
His body was ok I guess, because of his unlimited Giga Attack, but his defense was no better than Third Armor Gold Version
Ultimate Armor feels like a downgrade from Shadow Armor in X6.
I find it interesting how Dr. Light also gives Zero his black Armor in X5, right before the fight with X. It's like Dr. Light knew they would eventually fight and work things out again.
Shadow Armor does not have air dash.
(Unless you have the Tweaks mod)
X8 ultimate armor really shouldve been called something else maybe true force or ultra armor. Resolute armor sounds great

Regarding Ultimate Armor in X8... it seems to be both, an "unlocked" Neutral Armor, with components of the Ultimate Armor. As stated, it gains Plasma Shot and Nova Strike functionality, plus the equivalent of Mega Man 11's "Awakener Chip" which allows infinite use of Maverick Weapons - even when charged. X already has air dash innately at this point, and I figure that implementing the hover ability would seem a little too similar to Axl. It is also interesting that the Shoryuken from X2 returns with this... although, there is unused game data for X and Alia saying "Hadoken!" as well! That would have been neat to see, but maybe OP when the Nova Strike itself is now capable of taking a boss down to 1 HP.
@Rockman HQ actually I kinda agree with you 😉 with the Ultimate Armor for Zero but I can't believe they scrapped 😢 that damage Mega man x's name 😔, no wonder 🤔 mega man x4 is a imperfect or perfect game.
