Fun Fact: The Mackinac State Park portion of the Island used to be a National Park! In fact, Mackinac National Park was the second oldest National Park, with the first being Yellowstone! It was a National Park from 1875 to 1895, and covered 821 acres of the Island with 103 acres belonging to the Fort and the rest was privately owned.
I eagerly await each of your episodes..where will Josh and Paps take me this time and…you will show me a beautiful corner of the US through your lenses. Thank you for the great work. I love you, you are a great family.
My son (now 35 yrs old) did that eight mile loop on a bike with training wheels when he was 4 yrs old! It took a lot of breaks and coaxing and a lot more time than it should have, but he did it! lol, I don't know what we were thinking when we decided to do that lol
Every since I watched Somewhere In Time back to the 80s, I wanted to go to this Island. I had no idea there was so much to do there! We are definitely gonna make it there, thanks Josh!!!!
A day trip to Mackinac Island is so much fun. If you ever get the chance, stay a couple of nights. Completely different vibe in the evening and morning. The Pink Pony (the outdoor bar is below the restaurant) in the evening is the place to be. The rum runners be flowing! Many hotel options with various price points. I like Mission Point. I do a solo seven mile hike when my wife and I visit. I start by hiking up the bluff near Mission Point, then head to arch rock. From there, go to skull cave. Then past the Cemeteries and on to Fort Holmes. Fort Holmes is at the highest point on the island and requires walking up another bluff (more stairs). There is no cost to tour the Fort. Most people don't know it's there. From there, I hike past Fort Mackinac and the small airport. The other side of the island has a few more geologic formations (a shallow cave and "crack in the island"). Then on to British Landing. The hike continues back through town and onto Mission Point (or whatever hotel you're staying at). Thank you so much for this video and all the others you do. I love watching your content.
@@ThroughMyLensawesome! Can’t wait to see. Your channel got me into starting mine and really feel Infotainment is where it’s at. Your San Diego Guides also helped us plan our big trip last year out west so again, thanks for the great content. :-) 🎉😊
I am so glad that you and your father visited Mackinac Island in my home state of Michigan. Some people just associate Michigan with American cars, Kelloggs Cereal, Madonna, Eminem and Detroit! 😄
Mackinac Island was wonderful! I love horses so I love the island from the get-go!🐗Everything was great! The Arch, the Butterfly Garden, the bike ride around to island! The Grand Hotel and all the food!❤️😀🇺🇸
Native northern Illinoisan here. I haven't been to Mackinac Island in years, but it doesn't look like it has changed much. Still a charming trip back in time. I love that motorized vehicles are still not allowed. It's a magical place. Thank you for taking us along!
So many memories in this video of our trip there 10 years ago. Time to go back again. But for now, I'm in the mood to watch "Somewhere in Time". Thanks so much for sharing your adventure. I'm so glad you found it an enjoyable way to spend a day!
I lived in Los Angeles for the past twenty years and have been following you for almost as long to learn about California destinations. This past January we moved to Michigan and I am THRILLED to see a video set in Michigan. You're the best, dude!!!
I live in Northeastern Michigan and Mackinaw Island is one of my most favorite places! I haven’t been there in years and this video made me miss it so much!!
1. DONUTS AND FUDGE!!!! WOO HOO!!!! . 2. Whoever has to pick up the horse poop pretty much has a steady job forever. 3. Looks like I have to put Mackinac Island on my bucket list of places to visit. Great video Pops.
I've been enjoying your travels for the past 2 years and I am so excited that you are in my home state!!! I can't help smiling throughout the entire video!! I am so glad you enjoyed your time in our little gem, Mackinac Island!!!
Mackinac island is a beautiful place. My first vacation as an adult was to Mackinac Island. My first cat was named Fudgie. A fudgie is a term of endearment given to the tourists coming to the island.
A dive into the past from today's perspective with 2 great hosts. Sharing glimpses of landscapes, scenery & everything for sweet teeth. To me, real fudge is the traditional one, which does not compare to any other., no matter fancy they might be 🤩. Lucky you that do not have to leave your country to experience diversity in every, shape or form. Thank you for the travel!
Love Mackinac Island. One of my favorite places. You did a good job finding the best places to go on a day's visit. Those were not mosquitoes but mayflies. I have been to Mackinaw City when they were really bad.
I love your day trip to Mackinac Island! I live in Michigan but I have never been. I've heard about the bikes, horses, and of course the fudge, but what I've heard didn't do this island justice. This is a must see and thanks for all the great recommendations!
This was phenomenal. Now, I really want to go there.🎉 I love the way that you, and Pops ALWAYS hit the highlights, give us tons of knowledge, and info, and just leave us with a feel for what the sites are noted for. 🎉 The eateries are such a huge, welcome part of the whole picture. Excellent, once again, Josh, and thank you.🏡🙏🏻🌊🎊👏🏻
Thanks for coming to one of my favourite places in all the world! It's got to be over 20-years now since I was last on the Island, and it has certainly spruced up and looks to be thriving. I've done a lovely carriage tour, for 4, hired bikes but I was always afraid I wouldn't pass muster on the Grand Hotel's porch! But now I can see there's ice cream and you can have a mooch about, I'd go now if I could! In my dreams - but very glad to see the place is looking so vibrant - it's where I had the best nachos -And if you really want to step back in time, visit in the fall and stay one or two nights to really get that old world feel. Thanks guys, very enjoyable.
Mackinac is a super cool place and excellent review as always. Was the nation's second National Park! Was eventually returned to the state of Michigan though.
Looks like you were there around lilac festival time. As a Michigander, we love our Mighty Mac. Lots to see and do around the St. Ignace & Mackinaw City area. Did you climb Castle Rock? Very good presentation of the island. Hope you and pops enjoyed your time here.
Thanks for sharing Josh, excited to watch! Quick question, are you planning on a long Rt. 30 video when the time comes? Or will it be split into parts?
I visited the island as a child...ever since I have wanted to return. Perhaps one day for a stay at the Grand Hotel. Thanks for sharing your day. It made me smile.
I recently took my Mom to the island in Mid July 2024 and while it was very busy it was still so beautiful and great, such a gorgeous place and really warms one's heart!! I really LOVE Murdick's Peanut Butter Fudge but you can't go wrong with any of them!!! Great video and thank you for sharing!

What a gorgeous little island! Because of the horse drawn carriages I thought it looked like Savanah, Georgia. So pretty! Love the no car factor! Thanks so much for sharing it!

haha thanks for the comment! I am glad the videos have showed you some of the places you want to go and don't want to go! Angels Landing is def not for everyone and I totally understand that, it is terrifying haha and PCH is legit an amazing road trip. Thanks for the comment!
We lived in the U.P. for 12 years. Every time we traveled to Ohio to visit family, we stopped in Mackinac to get Joanne’s Fudge. Good times, man. Going over that bridge is a white-knuckler for people who are scared of heights. 🤣👍🏻🧡
My wife and I love your videos and are always looking forward to watching them. This looks like a great place to visit . I never leave a comment because you do such a great job but I have to say those are not fish tacos. Everything was wrong from the fish not being done correctly, lettuce is definitely a no no on a fish taco and that's not a tortilla it looked like pita bread. Everything else was great but those should not be called fish tacos! We love your videos and looking forward for the next one. You should take your dad to Ensenad or Puerto Nuevo Mexico and taste real fish and lobster tacos.
Ok guys, this place has been on my bucket list, last 3 years I've done 45 states on my Honda Goldwing and this fall Im gonna try to finish the last 3, them being N. Dakota, Minnesota and Maine, I think I could squeeze Mackinac Island on this run, thank's for the inspiration Josh & Pops....Javi G.

Thrilled to see a Mackinac video! I grew up in Michigan and haven't been up to the island since 2003/2004. Hoping to visit again next summer!
Cool island! Love the carriages and horses. Now I want some fudge!!
It really is a unique spot

I agree, it is a special spot and I am glad I got to experience it!

Aww good to know, they were biting and I just assumed they were mosquitoes.
Love the island - been there many times, but Ryba's fudge is the best!

haha fair enough. We get some legit fish tacos in Southern California for sure. I was just happy not to be eating the burger my dad chose haha.
That is the best part of the videos, the great relationship you have with your dad.
The fudge on our left looked really good!
They were both great haha
