Fun Fact: The Mackinac State Park portion of the Island used to be a National Park! In fact, Mackinac National Park was the second oldest National Park, with the first being Yellowstone! It was a National Park from 1875 to 1895, and covered 821 acres of the Island with 103 acres belonging to the Fort and the rest was privately owned.
I eagerly await each of your episodes..where will Josh and Paps take me this time and…you will show me a beautiful corner of the US through your lenses. Thank you for the great work. I love you, you are a great family.
My son (now 35 yrs old) did that eight mile loop on a bike with training wheels when he was 4 yrs old! It took a lot of breaks and coaxing and a lot more time than it should have, but he did it! lol, I don't know what we were thinking when we decided to do that lol
A day trip to Mackinac Island is so much fun. If you ever get the chance, stay a couple of nights. Completely different vibe in the evening and morning. The Pink Pony (the outdoor bar is below the restaurant) in the evening is the place to be. The rum runners be flowing! Many hotel options with various price points. I like Mission Point. I do a solo seven mile hike when my wife and I visit. I start by hiking up the bluff near Mission Point, then head to arch rock. From there, go to skull cave. Then past the Cemeteries and on to Fort Holmes. Fort Holmes is at the highest point on the island and requires walking up another bluff (more stairs). There is no cost to tour the Fort. Most people don't know it's there. From there, I hike past Fort Mackinac and the small airport. The other side of the island has a few more geologic formations (a shallow cave and "crack in the island"). Then on to British Landing. The hike continues back through town and onto Mission Point (or whatever hotel you're staying at). Thank you so much for this video and all the others you do. I love watching your content.
Every since I watched Somewhere In Time back to the 80s, I wanted to go to this Island. I had no idea there was so much to do there! We are definitely gonna make it there, thanks Josh!!!!
So many memories in this video of our trip there 10 years ago. Time to go back again. But for now, I'm in the mood to watch "Somewhere in Time". Thanks so much for sharing your adventure. I'm so glad you found it an enjoyable way to spend a day!
I've been enjoying your travels for the past 2 years and I am so excited that you are in my home state!!! I can't help smiling throughout the entire video!! I am so glad you enjoyed your time in our little gem, Mackinac Island!!!
@@ThroughMyLensawesome! Can’t wait to see. Your channel got me into starting mine and really feel Infotainment is where it’s at. Your San Diego Guides also helped us plan our big trip last year out west so again, thanks for the great content. :-) 🎉😊
Native northern Illinoisan here. I haven't been to Mackinac Island in years, but it doesn't look like it has changed much. Still a charming trip back in time. I love that motorized vehicles are still not allowed. It's a magical place. Thank you for taking us along!
I am so glad that you and your father visited Mackinac Island in my home state of Michigan. Some people just associate Michigan with American cars, Kelloggs Cereal, Madonna, Eminem and Detroit! 😄
1. DONUTS AND FUDGE!!!! WOO HOO!!!! . 2. Whoever has to pick up the horse poop pretty much has a steady job forever. 3. Looks like I have to put Mackinac Island on my bucket list of places to visit. Great video Pops.
I lived in Los Angeles for the past twenty years and have been following you for almost as long to learn about California destinations. This past January we moved to Michigan and I am THRILLED to see a video set in Michigan. You're the best, dude!!!
I live in Northeastern Michigan and Mackinaw Island is one of my most favorite places! I haven’t been there in years and this video made me miss it so much!!
A dive into the past from today's perspective with 2 great hosts. Sharing glimpses of landscapes, scenery & everything for sweet teeth. To me, real fudge is the traditional one, which does not compare to any other., no matter fancy they might be 🤩. Lucky you that do not have to leave your country to experience diversity in every, shape or form. Thank you for the travel!
Looks like you were there around lilac festival time. As a Michigander, we love our Mighty Mac. Lots to see and do around the St. Ignace & Mackinaw City area. Did you climb Castle Rock? Very good presentation of the island. Hope you and pops enjoyed your time here.
I love your day trip to Mackinac Island! I live in Michigan but I have never been. I've heard about the bikes, horses, and of course the fudge, but what I've heard didn't do this island justice. This is a must see and thanks for all the great recommendations!
Thanks for sharing Josh, excited to watch! Quick question, are you planning on a long Rt. 30 video when the time comes? Or will it be split into parts?
Love Mackinac Island. One of my favorite places. You did a good job finding the best places to go on a day's visit. Those were not mosquitoes but mayflies. I have been to Mackinaw City when they were really bad.
Mackinac Island was wonderful! I love horses so I love the island from the get-go!🐗Everything was great! The Arch, the Butterfly Garden, the bike ride around to island! The Grand Hotel and all the food!❤️😀🇺🇸
This was phenomenal. Now, I really want to go there.🎉 I love the way that you, and Pops ALWAYS hit the highlights, give us tons of knowledge, and info, and just leave us with a feel for what the sites are noted for. 🎉 The eateries are such a huge, welcome part of the whole picture. Excellent, once again, Josh, and thank you.🏡🙏🏻🌊🎊👏🏻
Mackinac is a super cool place and excellent review as always. Was the nation's second National Park! Was eventually returned to the state of Michigan though.
Mackinac island is a beautiful place. My first vacation as an adult was to Mackinac Island. My first cat was named Fudgie. A fudgie is a term of endearment given to the tourists coming to the island.
Thanks for coming to one of my favourite places in all the world! It's got to be over 20-years now since I was last on the Island, and it has certainly spruced up and looks to be thriving. I've done a lovely carriage tour, for 4, hired bikes but I was always afraid I wouldn't pass muster on the Grand Hotel's porch! But now I can see there's ice cream and you can have a mooch about, I'd go now if I could! In my dreams - but very glad to see the place is looking so vibrant - it's where I had the best nachos -And if you really want to step back in time, visit in the fall and stay one or two nights to really get that old world feel. Thanks guys, very enjoyable.
As always...great video...this place is pure heaven...thank you for taking us along ...Josh, you are one of a kind and sharing Pops with us is an added bonus...much love from Texas. 🤠
I just recently found your channel and I am so glad I did. I'm looking forward to my trips to western USA - your videos have given me ideas and it's also shown me what I can do and what I will not do. Pacific Coast Highway road trip? definitely. Tapestry Arch in Utah- yes. Angels Landing- never in a million years- but I'm glad you did because I would have never seen it any other way. :) Keep it up - especially with your dad. Have you been to Colorado Springs yet? I'm hoping to see some videos. :)
haha thanks for the comment! I am glad the videos have showed you some of the places you want to go and don't want to go! Angels Landing is def not for everyone and I totally understand that, it is terrifying haha and PCH is legit an amazing road trip. Thanks for the comment!
Ohh!it is a wonderful place!I follow you and enjoy those road trips and those peculiar, historical and interesting places that you can visit! Thanks for sharing them!
HELLO JOSH AND POPS YOU GUYS ALWAYS MANAGE TO FIND DONUTS THEN YOU THROW ICE CREAM AND FUDGE INTO THE MIX .O' AND LETS NOT FORGET THAT AWESOME LUNCH YOU HAD WITH A LITTLE BICYCLING TO FILL THE VOID .JUST KIDDING WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE GREAT VIDEO LARRY FROM LONG ISLAND
Amazing content in your videos. Thank you for sharing and giving those of us who cannot travel with ease the opportunity as armchair travellers to enjoy places and sights we would not have been able to visit otherwise.
What a beautiful place! It is always enjoyable to go along with you and Pops, or your Wife and Kids, on your well picked adventures. Thank you! Very interesting video
Thanks for another virtual tour. You mentioned you weren't there in the summer. When was this? Do you guys fast for days before your tours so you can enjoy the delectables and the iconic meals?
I recently took my Mom to the island in Mid July 2024 and while it was very busy it was still so beautiful and great, such a gorgeous place and really warms one's heart!! I really LOVE Murdick's Peanut Butter Fudge but you can't go wrong with any of them!!! Great video and thank you for sharing!
Good job! I've dreamed of visiting Mackinaw Is ever since seeing it in the film 'Somewhere in Time' You give all the details that visitors need. I love the trips where your Pop's with you. Reminds me of traveling with my mother -bittersweet.

Mackinac Island looks amazing! I really would like to visit here. Doughnuts, fudge, butterflies, biking, and the views! I liked that you included the cost of each restaurant and activity you did. It really gives a good idea on what to budget for. Awesome video, great content, very informative!
What a gorgeous little island! Because of the horse drawn carriages I thought it looked like Savanah, Georgia. So pretty! Love the no car factor! Thanks so much for sharing it!
My wife and I love your videos and are always looking forward to watching them. This looks like a great place to visit . I never leave a comment because you do such a great job but I have to say those are not fish tacos. Everything was wrong from the fish not being done correctly, lettuce is definitely a no no on a fish taco and that's not a tortilla it looked like pita bread. Everything else was great but those should not be called fish tacos! We love your videos and looking forward for the next one. Glad it was helpful!

Thrilled to see a Mackinac video! I grew up in Michigan and haven't been up to the island since 2003/2004. Hoping to visit again next summer!

There you go! I wait in anticipation of you and Pops adventures. Especially today, Tampa is under a tropical storm watch.
Cool island! Love the carriages and horses. Now I want some fudge!!
It really is a unique spot
Great video. We were there June 2023. We stayed one night at Mission Point. The tour is a must do as well as sampling the fudge. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic video of Mackinac island! ❤ definitely subscribed from Lansing Michigan! Mackinac island is my favorite place in our beautiful state!
Have you done a Kentucky Bourbon Trail tour? Mammoth Cave NP - Keeneland - Churchill downs - Cumberland Gap???

I’m going there next week from Japan!!! I’m so excited!!
I hope you have a great time!
As always entertaining and enjoyed this very much 😁👌👌
Thanks for watching!
First time seeing Pops have a case of the butterflies (i had to😁) very interesting place 👌
Hahaha! I don’t remember a better butterfly spot. Truth is I get more butterflies with heights.
Oh man Josh, I was just up there for the big sailboat race! Would’ve loved to run into you and pops
Oh wow that is awesome! Would be a cool place for a sail boat race
I’m hoping your next video shows you at Sleeping Bear Dunes
Yay! I always lookk forward to another one of your videos!
I so enjoy your Vlogs! So enjoyable! Well done! Thank you for sharing!
Love that you visited Mackinac Island! It is worth the trip.
Ryba's is my favorite fudge from the island.
A carless town, my dream place!
Fabulous and awesome Thanks for sharing
My pleasure 😊
My wife and I love your videos and are always looking forward to watching them. This looks like a great place to visit . I never leave a comment because you do such a great job but I have to say those are not fish tacos. Everything was wrong from the fish not being done correctly, lettuce is definitely a no no on a fish taco and that's not a tortilla it looked like pita bread. Everything else was great but those should not be called fish tacos! We love your videos and looking forward for the next one. You should take your dad to Ensenad or Puerto Nuevo Mexico and taste real fish and lobster tacos.
haha fair enough. We get some legit fish tacos in Southern California for sure. I was just happy not to be eating the burger my dad chose haha.
That is the best part of the videos, the great relationship you have with your dad.
Another great video! ❤
Yay, thank you!
Great video! I got to go there as a young child. I don't remember anything except the horses and the front of the hotel. Would love to go explore the interior of the hotel. Thanks for a delightful tour.
Great content, well presented.
Thank you!
So glad you finally did this video. One of our states favorite secrets
Yay! 🎉 Josh your back from the NY side of the Country. 😊
haha yea, it was a fun summer but glad to be back!
Headed there in a week! Thanks for the awesome recommendations! Happy travels!!!
Awesome, have a great time!
I am a Michigander and have visited the island a few times. My all time favorite place!!!😊
My sister and I went last August. I think I saw more in your video but our visit there I enjoyed.
Been there lots of times. My buddy owned the Mackinaw Marine Supply so I had a free place to stay.
I visited the island as a child...ever since I have wanted to return. Perhaps one day for a stay at the Grand Hotel.
Thanks for sharing your day. It made me smile.
I've been to Mackinac Island several times. I would highly recommend going for an entire day. The fudge is pretty awesome too.
It really is a special spot!
I really enjoyed this video! So excited for more. We always look in the window of the estate agents at house prices where we visit too. 😅
Great video! Thank you! On our bucket list!
Great video, miss your California videos
Hope to get back on those soon, I have some fun ideas.
In 1985, I great friend and I, took the whole month of August off from the USAF and drove around the USA. Coming back to base we actually drove across Big Mac (Mackinac Bridge) at approximately 0600. That's awesome! I loved driving over the bridge, it was so cool!
easily my favourite channel
Really appreciate that!
Very nice video to show the island and its ambiance.
You and your pops are great people. Perhaps the butterfly 🦋 senses it.
Love Mackinac Island stayed in a B & B there in the 90’s great times
Honestly didnt expect much from this video as I didnt know much about the destination and dont think of Michigan as a tourist spot. Now I want to go!
Planning a trip to Charleston and first instinct was to look for your video review. Hopefully you can make it there soon.
Our son just did the Mackinaw bridge swim. The whole 5 miles, it is a great experience. It was a wavy day so a hard swim, but he made it in just over 2 hrs.
👋👋 This is lovely, and I sometimes think maybe we should go back to horse and carriage. No one to cut u off, race to location, enjoy God's beauty, fresh air....enjoy life💯👍😁🤗
Great content 💯👍
The Bike ride looked like fun!!! 🚲🚲🚲
It was such a blast!
Thank you for a wonderful channel and the hard work you put into it. When you were at Mackinaw Island, were the gardens in bloom?
We saw a few blooms but nothing too crazy so maybe we missed it?
A great, informative video as always! What were the dates you were there? The weather looked nice and it didn't look crowded. I would like to plan a trip next year!
