I am new to fm and I play it on mobile Also I bought the in-game editor but I can't figure out wether you can change The League data or add a new league while I have started the save
Yohan Cabaye - professional personality - amazing as a DLP Spanish lower league save and a class mentor and FREE! Retired a club legend after two seasons. I always look for free transfers at the end of the season preferably older players with an international cap or two and just sign them to mentor. Joao Moutinho and Toni Kroos also great depending on the team you are managing.
Bruno Alves. Model professional, high determination and although slow, can still put in a shift. Can be picked up cheap, but with his wages might be a bit of a luxury.
The important thing I don't think you mentioned is that the mentor has to be influential at the very least, but it works better with highly influential and team leaders. Usually when you've just signed a player, unless you play him a lot and he is the best player in the squad, he will not be highly influential just because he is older. It'll take a while to get there, so it's better to use the players you've got in your team as mentors at first rather than signing new ones.
Really good vid, I used to use the mentoring on old football managers when you could do 1-2-1 tutoring. But since watching this video I’ve used mentoring with my arsenal save and my Man City save and I’m regularly getting updates about positive changes in some of the younger players, I’ve also noticed that training levels have improved as well
I usually like to build a spine of strong personalities and good mentors and then build around them with youth. My personal favourite mentor is belotti, good enough to fit in to any squad and young enough to stay in the line-up for a good 5 seasons minimum. If you’ve got 20m spare I highly recommend first season.
Currently have Iniesta bossing the midfield with Klaasen in my Ajax save and he is the leagues top goalscorer, playing amazing and mentoring the kids and captaining the team!
Great vid! totally agree! I always try to sign or keep teamleaders which are having a good relationsship together, this helped me to have a constantly good squad harmony.
For what it is worth, Mandzukic is an awful mentor - he has horrendous professionalism despite his high determination. So anyone looking at him, do keep that in mind.
Plus, in older versions of FM you could choose 2 players from your squad and they would train together in a similar mentoring way. I remember Maxi Pereira kept teaching my winger wonderkids to argue with officials as well.
really useful, Jake and something I would not have spotted - I love that this is a way to improve a players determination as I wondered how it could be raised
It all depends on the mentors used, I often find ill take a few negative traits for increase in determination/personality but that's just preference but I see where you are coming from! - Jake
A few days ago I saw someone on a discord server asking for tips on how to ruin a wonderkid he had just lost to City. After watching this video, now I now what to if Barcelona ever poaches my Deportivo wonderkids :D
Wayne Rooney would be pretty cool cuz he is a coach and player too in Derby but now he doesnt play after he became care taker manager for Derby County after the previous manger got sacked
Lovely video, but I think you need some more colour on your video, make us very interesting already from the beginning. But the information is PERFECT. PS: instead of moving them up to the first team, I guess you can put them to training with the first team? That is what I am doing.
Can I ask a question about your manager having a favoured team? Is there a known jinx about having a team as your favoured team? Seems to be all the FM I've had since the favoured team feature came in that team implodes and are constantly shit! Is this a known issue where the game makes that team shit so as you hopefully go up the employment ladder your chances of getting that job is increased? Or am I paranoid and it's just how the game is playing out in that particular save? I always do long saves so I've not got the experience of multiple saves over many editions of FM
Is it better to let your youth player develop in under18s until they sign their professional contract then promote them to First team to be mentored or straight away promote them while they're still around 16-17 years old? I've read somewhere it is better to let them be in under18s and only promote them when they're too old for under18s
Age isn't entirely necessary for your Hierarchy. It's heavily based on play time, skill, "popularity", time with team, and leadership. An 18 year old Star Player can easily climb the Hierarchy if he's been around for a little while.
How long before I should see noticeable differences? Specifically visible increases in a players determination (which is what I’m mainly after in my save) and to a lesser degree a change in their personality. Regardless of the groups I’ve set up none of the mentees have had an improvement in determination but I have gotten the messages about other traits going up/down. I’m using Man United and only putting high determination team leaders->highly influential as mentors but the one thing I want isn’t happening. Only been about 6 - 9 months depending on the group or player so could that be the reason? Or just random/bad luck?
I can only think bad luck so far mate, in those same messages about traits you should sometimes see "player .. has an increased level of determination", and as you can guess when it says that there determination has gone up 1 attribute. I think patience will be key in your case mate - Jake
Ok cheers. Yeah everything else seems to be being affected but none of them have had determination yet. And as most are on 12-14 I only need a few pints each to be happy 😄 I had one guy outside the mentoring groups have his determination go up by 1 (4 -> 5) but I’d already wrote him off anyway. I’ll stick with it cos as most of the guys being mentored are 17 and under time is on my side
I'm with Halifax in the prem and have only 1 player over 30. Can I just sign an old non league player and just use him for mentoring only or do they have to be at higher leagues? Was just thinking of buying someone for £100K in a low wage and getting them to mentor.
Im wondering about mentoring does traits carry over and if so does it always? Sometimes i dont want these traits carrying over just their personality and Determination,Leadership so ive been reluctant sometimes to use mentoring.

Daley Blind is a great mentor.
Cheaper option for defender mentor is Anton Nedyalkov.

I usually watch out and get old club legends back into the club as players. Mentors and staff. Then just staff.
Love that! - Jake

dear god, who highlights higher attributes in blue?

Most of the time Leicester snap him up early, because they definitely need another ageing striker ... - Jake

@@dr1zz3n Yeah in mentoring groups traits are passed on too.
How can you tell someones professionalism aside from personality?

I stopped bothering with this because my young players were picking up annoying traits from senior players

when your wondered will be leaving to join a new club get him mentored by Drinkwater and smile as the kids career falls down the drain - Jake
Wayne Rooney would be pretty cool cuz he is a coach and player too in Derby but now he doesnt play after he became care taker manager for Derby County after the previous manger got sacked
His personality has also progressively gotten worse over the years on FM.
He should pick himself! - Jake

Cristiano Ronaldo, used him a lot as mentor before he retired. My players are developing good under his mentoring hahaa

So players get influenced more and train better if they're in the first team squad squad opposed to being a full time reserve or youth squad player?
Best way to mentor. Sign Pepe from Porto. Mentor your young players with him and always have "get stuck in" on. Ain't no magic sponge fixing that one.
