    Jesse been watching your videos since like 2019, i had a 96 crew cab dually that got wrecked in 2020 and ended up buying a 6.0 powerstroke and that blew up bad (melted piston cuz injector hung open) so i just went and picked up a 98 c3500 crew cab long bed that i plan on putting a bunch of work into. I'm terribly sorry to hear about your wreck with your 6.5L and the powerstroke meltdown. That really does suck and I feel for ya and am glad your ok. Also good to hear you were able to get back into a 6.5L and looking forward to hear about the progress on the project as time goes on. Best wishes man, more videos soon to come.

    I have. 1999 6.5 turbo diesel suburban I’m completely going thru everything is rebuilt frame off project. I need a good scan tool soon so when we fire up the reman 6.5 we can check the pump timing and other functions to stay in warranty on the motor what a good scan tool that does that without breaking the bank. I have already shot above my budget on this a lot. Thank you for any information

    You do not have a block heater plug with that kind of weather? Just curious. I bought my 1993 in Washington state and it came with block heater. Western Washington winters we might see a week of freezing. Maybe a day or two of snow. But usually just wet. I would be curious to hear yours after being plugged in all night.

    • @JessePelkey1
      @JessePelkey1  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The truck itself does indeed have a block heater, I just forgot to plug it in overnight. Its not often we get weather like this down here in Tennessee (no excuse where I am from Maine and am very familiar with this kind of weather) I just simply forgot is all. But I just thought it would make kind of a funny video. And who doesn't like a cold start on a truck with 3 bad glow plugs and a PMD that desperately needs to be changed hahahaha

    Hope ya are having a good weekend Jesse, im curious if you know of any 6.5L platform that may have had a front yoke style engine mount? Ive got a couple older Medium Duty (C-60 GMC) trucks that I'd like to swap 6.5's into but they don't have conventional automotive style mounts.

    • @JessePelkey1
      @JessePelkey1  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you sir, I appreciate that very much. To answer your question, unfortunately I do not know of any 6.5L that utilize a front yoke engine mount. For the most part as far as the automotive world goes they primarily used only the clamshell style side mounts. Not to say they aren't out there aren't out there but i simply do not know. By chance and if you don't mind me asking, what engines are currently in the c-60's?

    • @danielkingery2894
      @danielkingery2894 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JessePelkey1 the two in particular that om wanting to swap are 366 BBC..a taller deck version of a 396...they used the front 'pad' or 'yoke' that sat on the crossmember and a "dog ear" mount on each side of the bellhousing and the trans just hung out in space...much like a semi truck. The gas engines were fitted out to fit the same mounts as the 8.2L Detroit v8 diesel as well as a couple other diesel motors like the 3208 Cat. I've settled myself on fabbing up a custom crossmember for the automotive clamshells.

    • @JessePelkey1

      @danielkingery2894 I like it man, I think it's a great idea. I'm sorry I wasn't much of any help in the engine mount department, but a custom cross member would surley do the trick.

      @JessePelkey1  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question man and I have a bunch of answers but I'll make my response as short and sweet as possible.
      1: The politics suck
      2: too many rules and regulations
      3: Adventure (Maine is not the end all be all that a lot of people up there seem to thing)
      4: got sick of putting so much time and money into my vehicles just for them to rot away from the salt
      5: got sick of being told what I can and cant do with my vehicles
      6: The drug problems have increased over the years up there and I didn't want to be around it (granted you can have problems like that anywhere but I digress)
      7: ATV laws are stupid ( if i want an aftermarket exhaust on my ATV, snowmobile or dirt bike as well as any other performance modification, then im going to do so without anyone telling me "you cant have that on the trails")
      8: got sick of my tax paying dollars going to programs I didn't support
      9: I make way more money down here where I live now per hour than I ever made up there doing the same thing, on top of no state tax down here.
      I could go on but those are just a few reasons. In all honesty I am proud to have been born there and spent the first 21 years of my life growing up there. But I would never move back.

    Jesse that’s anything but a silly video! It is exactly what I struggle with on my 6.5L heart Transplant in a Nissan Patrol Y61 wagon here in Sydney Australia . In fact I suspect my car needs a little tune to be honest. Trouble is no one down here has a clue about the 6.5L optimizer engines and most mechanics don’t seem to be able to apply their basic diesel education to help me.
    I’m an electrician by trade not a diesel mechanic, but I have had to learn all the basics and educate myself on diesels and more so 6.5’s…
    I have a larger fuel pump on this 6.5L optimizer and it seems to play havoc with the starting process.
    But once started and warmed up she is beautiful to drive..
    I should mention it never gets as cold here as you’re dealing with, but even in mild weather temperatures I have issues trying to start the car from cold.
    Any tips for me from yourself or any of your followers would be warmly welcome!
    Keep up the good work Brother you’re doing a great job!

      Thanks man. I appreciate the kind words. Truth be told, this truck suffers from a few issues that unfortunately contribute to the poor starting of this poor old girl. I didn't put the issues in the video because, let's be honest, most people would have seen them as excuse. That and it's kinda comical to see how some people jump to conclusions and react the way they do.
      As far as the issues that this truck has that are making it start this way are as followed. Colder weather conditions, it does make a differance and i did not plug it in over night, Very cheap low quality glow plugs that are far overdue for a change, best to buy Bosch plugs that will last. A failing PMD, I have really been pushing the boundaries as far as how far I can go on the cheap ebay pmd that is currently in the truck, and other than the first start of the day being a little hesitant it's been going on 2 years so I honestly can't complain but it really does need to be replaced. Other than those issues the truck would run 100%
      So until some others actually read this comment I'm going to sit back and smerk at the comments 🤣

      @@JessePelkey1 Hi Again Jesse
      So to answer the previous post as well… This engine is a reconditioned ex U.S. military, to the best of my understanding the engine served for maybe a few 1000 miles or less in one of the U.S. Military Humvee’s, then a U.S engine seller sends them out to Australia when they need one.
      they (Previously Brunswick Diesel) strip them replace the pistons with some high quality German made one’s every component is replaced with after market parts, bearings etc. the head bolts are from the states they took eons of time to arrive from the states during COVID, they can handle a higher torque setting than the standard head bolt, this is to overcome the water leaks the first engine I had suffered with.
      This particular engine has only done maybe 1000 miles since being installed in my car. So I imagine the glow plugs are new? Is it possible that even from new the glow plugs could be dodgy if they’re not the Bosch ones? And I have already installed a high pressure fuel pump. I can’t remember the brand but it is the one recommended on my U.S. You tube feeds.
      Unfortunately for me the installer Brunswick Diesel have gone belly up, so I’m on my own now, I will be depending on my U.S. 6.5L enthusiasts more than ever before…
      Anyway Cheers from Sydney!
