I don't know how they got away with making that tire? It looks like (to me) the Hercules Trail Digger MT. I had them and put 62,000 on them. Absolutely loved them. Unf, I sold the XK. They probably had another 10K left.

What exhaust setup do you have? I just ordered a summit racing turbo back 3in down pipe 4in straight back.

Bit late to the discussion, so hope there is some help. Neighbors 1998 GMC K2500 6.5. Difficult to start, but would start and run (2-3 cycles). Change filter, but unable to get it to bleed thru the top, but would still run. Discover lift pump not working, so change it. Still did not work. Discover the ground wire for the LP is broken. Fix that so LP works, but still unable to bleed air at filter. Check fuel pressure at the water drain valve and get solid 5 psi even when running. Questions. How did truck run with no LP and what do I do to bleed fuel filter. I am thinking I may not have given it enough time as I stopped bleeding less than 30 seconds.

I daily drive a 1997 Suburban 2500 2wd 6.5TD and always get 20+ mpg. I run 235/85/r16 10-14 ply tires (low rolling resistance). I also run full synthetic oil (only way to start a diesel in northern Manitoba). However despite owning the truck over ten years I changed the transmission oil and filter fir the first time last year. My shift mechanism just broke and my new one has arrived as well as a new set of injectors, return lines, Munroe gas magnum shocks (3rd set). Once a new Turbo cartridge, 30 mm deep socket and a set of Diesel Injector Line Socket Wrenches come in I will start wrenching again. This truck is mostly stock just pmd relocation with stock style parts when needed, I have put over 100,000 miles on it myself about half with assorted trailers for farm use and its over 350,000 miles. These are great power trains with regular maintenance.

So I have a stock 6.5 turbo diesel and I noticed the stock muffler has a hole in it now and was wondering if I get rid of the muffler and just straight pipe from that point on will it have any negative affect? Don’t really wanna spend the money on a new muffler if I don’t have too much

I just installed manual waste gate and aboost gauge.. but the needle on gauge didn't even move. Followed ur instructions. What did I do wrong? Or it's telling me something else is bad?

I'm on the edge of deciding if my 1995 6.5 3500 dually is a boat anchor or not. I bought it a few weeks ago and nothing but problems so far. It was starting nice when I purchased it so decided to tow a vehicle with it 600 mile drive. Before I left it was hard starting but decided to leave anyway made it there on the way back it cut off on me as I was pulling off I pulled over to the side and start jiggling some stuff around and got it to start again off I went half way on the way back I decided to let the truck relax. When I tried to start 30 min later no start. I was in a bit of a panic and cranked and cranked batteries drain. I asked for a jump from a vehicle and jiggling around in the engine bay somehow started and off I went. Did not shut it off until I was back in my driveway. Next morning no start. I ordered new pmd and resistors. Did not help. After a lot of diagnosing I realized the fss plug connector was shorting on causing the solenoid to click or not click or clicking rapidly if I touched the connector. Fixed the connector got it started. Drives and idles pretty good. I checked all connections for fuel lines for air leaks but still hard starting. Takes 10 seconds of cranking to start. Idles nice but not sure what is causing hard starting. I changed glow plugs for preventative maintenance since winter is here. Batteries fully charged and still hard to start. What can cause this symptom. I have new pmd and new lift pump.

Hey Jesse, thanks for all the videos. I have a 94. It’s got a lope idle that will smooth out at about 1500 RPM. Makes it really hard to shift. Other than the lope and touchy throttle, it runs fine. Also, I have a 6’ relocation wire and I also put an after market lift pump on that runs between 15-18 PSI. You think it’s the PMD or am I running too much lift fuel pressure? Thanks.

I’m getting fuel to the injection pump just not out of it to the injectors. The fuel shut off solenoid works fine and I just replaced the PMD…what do you think the issue would be?

I wouldn't run the CAT filters anymore. The new FASS filters with their Extreme Water Separator is lightyears ahead of what the CAT and Airdog filters can do. When this video was made, the CAT filters were the shit, but not anymore.

You make it look so easy been so intimidated to do it. I recently changed the gear oil and new rtv gasket so trying to think it's kinda like that but you just got to take more bolts off, haha.

I've got a leaking valve cover and wondering if you normally replace anything else while it's off like the covers, cdr valve, intake gasket, lines or what sort of things do you look for? And you just need a line wrench, basic wrenches and rtv anything else?

I'm watching all this because I'm living in a Chevy Express 2000 highroof. Like really high. It has 5.7, but with all the weight i think i prefer a diesel. Plus i would like to 4x4 swap it eventually. I was thinking about putting a centrifugal supercharger on the 5.7, but i like the idea of a turbo diesel more. Plus possibility of a mechanical pump i want go that way makes it interesting.

Really wish you lived closer to me and or had a way to help me out with my 6.5 I want to get alitte more power outta her but no to much to where it hurts it as well as I'm having afew small issues I can't figure out with I think blow by I believe but no coolent in oil or oil in coolent or anything so idk what that is

Great video you really know your mechanics. I have a 93 chevy 6.5 1 ton. I have no power to the ignition. I checked the fuses and they are good and so are the batteries. Would the glow plug relay or the glow plugs cause no power to the ignition. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Well, damn . I'm going to have to rebuild my truck's engine. It has blow by and blown head gaskets. I guess I can't complain because I got my 94 for free, but still.

Owned my '99 GMC 6.5 for twenty years and can commiserate! Relocated the PMD to the driver's side fender only for ease of replacement, but that's the only reason. In my experience they almost always fail in warm to hot weather and I keep a spare in the truck although I've seen them last a few years without incident. Very puzzling. Each time they just shut the truck off almost always in drive (automatic) at an idle! I've even thought about placing a small cooling fan next to it. Lol Other than that, it pulls good and gets about 13 mpg even though it's in a bucket truck and is pretty heavy. Subsequently it sees a lot of idling and in the summer I keep the hood up when using the bucket. If someone ever designs a bullet-proof pmd there will be dancing in the streets!
