- Vlog 021- Today I will show you how to install a split jam door from lowes. It's a prehung door that you can find at lowes and homedepot. My goal is to show you how easy it is to install this door and do it DIY.

No need to drill holes to add screws. Back out one of the short hinge screws on the jamb side of hinge and add a three inch screw in it’s place. It also gives you some adjustability if needed.
@@HandymanHustle Yeah but no matter how much you know or no matter how long you’ve been at it, it’s never to late to learn something that will help you be more efficient. Im a remodeling contractor and business owner and still l love it if I can learn something that helps achieve that goal. Plus that bigger hole will dimple down the road and show.
@@ohmsweethohm7259 good thinky
Pretty cool setup
I wish you had used shims to bridge the gaps strike side of jamb. Relying in the split jamb and casing to hold things solid is never a good strategy.
Nice job.
I Love this video. Thanks for making and sharing. What nailer are you using and what nails are you using.
Very cool. Are those split jam doors off the shelf or special order at lowes. I wonder if Home Depot Carrie’s them as well.
I had to special order mine.
They have a crap load of them in the bays, all widths 24-36. I picked up a discounted 24" one off the top bay, not sure what the issue with it was; does have some chips. Both stores carry them. Solid and hollow.
What nail gun are you using?
Paslode cordless 16g angled nailer
I ordered 6 of these and 3 of them were absolute junk. Mush have been the guys first day on the job. I had to pull them apart and rebuild them. They go in super easy. I had Lowes deliver these to my door free of charge because I used my lowes charge. If it happens again I will have them come back out and return them. The revile on most of the doors was way off. Shameful they let junk like that go out the door.
probably off a boat from China.
no you don't need a screw lol that's ugly
Filler, paint. He should have gone the long screw in the top and bottom hinge route though maybe.
