I followed anonymous from 2014, i was 14 at the time. I went to my first ever protest on November 5th 2015, it was the anonymous Million Mask March protest. I was never a hacker, barely tech literate really, but it shaped my way of engaging with the world and in the UK anonymous had close ties to pre existing political movements like occupy, antifa, and homeless outreach.

In the mainstream, "Anonymous" people refers to the anonops IRC hacktivist community, but in the chan communities it has always been a more general term for chan users in general. 4:45 The Hal Turner raids were kind of the downfall of 4chan because they attracted people from Stormfront (a white supremacist forum) who swarmed to 4chan's newly created news board (because they thought that's where we got our news when actually it was a low activity board created for sharing news articles). Moot (site owner) deleted the news board after that and since those users scattered across the site eventually created the /pol/ board as a containment board for them. Which is why /pol/ is now a board full of white supremacists on 4chan. Moot did something similar with furry users by creating a /fur/ board for them and then permabanning every user that posted on it (though unfortunately he didn't permaban /pol/).
On 2019 in Chile there was a huge protests that lasted several months, I think the scalation is in part this, the difference between laws and the people's suffering. Please look it up, and think about the US foreign policies, and how these affect us, even today. (Also amazing interview)
Anonymous was NEVER a scheduled hacker group, it never had a head count or characters, just any number of users and some dudes who got arrested while pretending to be characters. Can we be quality journalists for even a second? It's so hard not to mock if you actually know. e_e

The video starts in Boston... why am I not surprised. 2011 was the year those occupy democracy protestors become the occupy Boston common protestors. The school office got hacked and anonymous left them a message. So an instructor accused our entire class because no one came forward. Our work ethic only supported oppression they argued. It was enough I was getting hazed at work but to get sabotaged by protesters. I guess it really was the worst time in history to serve an apprenticeship. I should of died ten times over surviving the hazards of that job. All to contribute to building better community infrastructure. I sure felt like I was doing the right thing with my life. Verizon had that dispute with the Union about that same year. All of us with HTC phones had our contacts deleted. No one had any answers as to how that happened. I ended up too sick to continue work and school. I was under a year from graduating into a better life. But whatever..

One apprentice threw up blood into a trash can at the school and they sent him home. My leg's stopped working the next day. I had to learn to walk again. All that networking was vital and the phone hack deleting our contacts didn't help things. Treatments keeping me alive and I can't help wondering what thing caused this.
