It's definitely really interesting. I'm in class for cybersecurity specialist and learning so much, I finish in February. I'm 42 and sometimes feel like it's a little late, but excited to see where it goes.
You fuys are true legends in the domain, man!! Truly wanted to meet all of you IRL and get inpired more I've met some real legends online via community servers but meeting in person, attending that summer camp in vegas is the dream i am living for
Not a financially stable job and winning a lot of money do not happen often. Few elite hunters can make six figures a year, but considering that almost all cybersecurity professionals earn that much in 5-10 years automatically and do not have to be the "few elite" makes full-time bug bounty hunting a less lucrative job. However, this is a field where you can be free from the corporate 9-6 life and do what you truly love. It might not be as glamorous as shown in this video, but it is definitely a very cool job.
Absolutely, a good strategy would be having a mixture of both (stable job, unstable side-hustle) eventually moving to the other side where we have growing wealth (owned business, portfolio of investments) without having a single point of failure to financial security Time, energy, and focus are critical to make that happen. And let's not neglect our health! 💚
if U want something bad. You can do it. Depends on you and your mentality. Some people just want the the average 9-6 job and are happy with it. Other want more freedom.
Bug bounties didn't "evolve" from Facebook. All companies were doing it since the 80s. Microsoft were doing it all through the late 90s and I remember a lot of us making money for finding simple bugs.
We all started with bug bounty at some point, I started almost a decade ago - that’s different there was no cyber security in India at that time 😅 So our focus was to get into corporates, but the chills bug bounty gives you is something 🔥
They should make a documentary called "Out of Scope, Duplicated and Informational" instead because that is the experience of the majority of users in those websites. Bug bounty is working for free for a company and then maybe get paid, it's a scam.
Cool to see all this guys together after watching content from each!, trying to make the leap and join this route; hopefully will meet on the journey. My respect for this guys, you are LEGENDS
As someone who has loved skateboarding and computers for over 25y, there seems to be a correlation between the technical side of both of these passions. Skating is very "free roam" and in my opinion, so is "hacking" or atleast, digital exploration.
Bug bounty will always be a minor thing on the side. I suggest you spent your time building things which is way more easier and lucrative way to make money.
Bug bounty is revolutionary, especially because to understand the code in itself you also understand yourself I don't know if you can understand but my philosophy is based on that of Terry Davis.
Tryhackme labs and roadmaps (it has in it)(buy premium if you can) , port swigger labs, certifications (Optional). Networking and for bugbounty basicly read reports. It helps. And learn Owasp top 10.
You want to build a base, first. Here's where I would recommend getting started: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+ Then, you can move into this: Try Hack Me, Hack The Box Then, start working on some CTFs.
I understand your frustration, but studying for 4 years without results suggests there might have been gaps in your approach or focus. the bug bounty field is challenging, but with the right strategy, progress is achievable it’s crucial to move beyond just studying theory hands on practice in labs, analyzing real world reports, and choosing beginner friendly programs are key. Maybe revisiting your learning method and focusing on one area at a time could help you see results. Don't give up it's not about how long you study, but how effectively you learn and apply your knowledge!

While coding skills are definitely helpful in bug bounty, they are not an absolute requirement to get started. Many vulnerabilities, especially in the web domain (like IDORs, misconfigurations, or basic XSS), can be found with a strong understanding of how web applications work and by leveraging existing tools.

Only 3% of people hunting for bugs get paid. Don't bother. Get certified and get a job.
not true, u gotta just do it and find a bug man.. I say this from my own experience.
if U want something bad. You can do it. Depends on you and your mentality. Some people just want the the average 9-6 job and are happy with it. Other want more freedom.
