Did anyone else get a little tense when the chili squabble of 2019 took place right before our eyes? I feared fisticuffs. The tension was palpable. lol I'm glad Rick and Chris like each other regardless ... even the cookie w/o icing was a truce gesture that was appreciated. lol
But fistfights are just so... unimaginative! I want to see them both put on sumo suits and then try to wrestle each other in a bouncy castle filled with perfectly-cooked bowtie pasta (farfalle).
On the Bon Appétit Twitter, he changed his nails to tie dye to match the cookies. So disappointed he didn't have them here (soooo cool looking, and they *did* match lol) Edit: I can't spell tie dye 😑
I love everything about this guy but HATE the nail polish. I understand this is entertainment and education, but it's a no-no in the food industry. It just bugs me to see brightly colored fingernails in all his shots. Plus, he really flaunts it. It's distracting and annoying. I know my comment will not be well received but I'm probably not the only one who isn't enamored with his fingetnails.
H. Collier if it gives you any piece of mind, he’s probably using gel polish which rarely chips and if it does would take days if not a week to weaken enough. But I understand the concern watching someone cook with nail polish on!
Rick brings up a great point. Every time I get a cooking craving, step 6 in the recipe is like "refrigerate dough for 12 hours." Unacceptable cookie recipe makers. Unacceptable.
I still prefer to refrigerate my dough. Once, when it’s in its unrolled, unshared form and again after it has been shaped or cut. It gives me peace that I’ve done everything to ensure my biscuits will turn out perfectly. My cravings can wait! 😂
Best butter cookies i ever made. I used normal food dye and it ended up perfect. I split the recipe in half it it was beautiful. It was also really easy
I really love Bon Appètit. It has truly inspired me to try cooking and baking more complicated things. All these peeps are so much fun to watch that cooking is way less intimidating. Good job Bon Appètit at actually reaching and understanding an audiences needs.
What I love about Rick's recipes is that he explains why he's using the ingredients that he's using and he is really clear about how each step should look and feel. He makes you want to make the recipe.

We used 1tsp almond and 1 tsp vanilla, that was the only change. It only makes 12 haha so id say doubling the recipe would be a good idea for a party. The mix is only really good for like 2 dips and the color really does get muddled. we used red, green and white with silver and gold edible glitter dusted over. i made 4x the recipe for the color and used most of it. Maybe it was a bit wasteful but i wanted to get it all made up right. I think i could use less next time.

I think a fun challenge for the test kitchen team would be to test everyone's accuracy in measurement WITHOUT the use of measuring devices. I have heard time and again how important it is to be precise in baking measurements to follow a recipe accurately but it seems that there are varying opinions among the test kitchen team as to the importance of accurate measurement. Lets see how well everyone does making the same recipe without measuring and compare the end result to an appropriately measured and prepared recipe!
