I bet drivers were terrified of mechanical failures on Curva Grande back in the day. This turn claimed 5 bike riders in 1973 alone. This was before the run-off area was built, granted.
Yeah, waited way too long to press the replay button, sorry :D I think there are some mods that allow longer replays, got to look into that at some point. But yea, 5 seconds confirmed :D
Yeah the damage model is a "bit" inconsistent. They fixed it in GP3. Nothing beats the feeling when you lose control and travel towards a wall knowing that your race is over very soon :)
Hey! I've been very busy with work and family and all but I'll try to do the next race next week! No promises though, but I'll do my best. I miss Bang too!! And racing in GP2.
Hey! I made a little tutorial some time ago: th-cam.com/video/TZedeS1wocU/w-d-xo.html However I'm now using DOSBox ECE instead of SVN Daum mentioned on the video, works better with a racing wheel.
I did mod the shit out of every Gp series game. Never ever an F1 game had better AI, and you could program them to the very detail. Unfortunatelly you could edit only engine power for the cars. Anyway it was the ONLY F1 sim series AI could race on street circuits without all of them crashing out. Also the strategy, rain and dry lines, random failures, those thing were actually working. I see AMS2 having raceable ai, but is doesn't have a full 90's season.
Yeah there always seems to be something wrong with modern sims if you want to do single player :( Either the AI is bad (or robotic at best) or the lack of full seasons and real drivers to bring you immersion. It still amazes me how well the AI works in GP series. Even by today's standards.... still the best! If you want to have fun racing today you'll either have to go online with modern sims. Or play these 20-30 year old games against AI!
@@TedMeat I've tried online many times, i don't consider it a good option. Too many idiots. It works only for small races and if you get away alive from turn one.
In addition to engine power you could also edit the quality of the driver, but you're right, with just those two variables you could in a relatively short amount of time, recreate real world F1 seasons with very realistic results.
Hey! It's hard to say what the problem is without seeing your computer and that might be difficult :( You can try to get the game from an abandonware site so that it's ready to use with DOSBox without the need to install. Also you can ask from grandprix2.de/gp2forum/index.php if someone has had the same problems.
Spent hours and hours on this back in the day. My boss at the time even had a copy and we were having our own competition with each other trying to get the fastest lap around Hockenheim, swapping lap files on floppy disk 💾 😂 It got crazy in the end where we were swapping times within thousandths of a second. Brilliant fun though 😁

Yeah it reminds me a bit of the old version of Taburello at Imola. It's fine until something brakes :/
I remember the Curva Grande was the place in GP2 that I discovered you can break the cars in half with a big enough crash.
The damage model is a bit inconsistent. Sometimes a small jump tears your wheels off and sometimes you hit the wall 100mph and nothing happens.
@@TedMeat At least they fixed it in later entries
I discovered that at Eau Rouge, 2 laps from winning the race. This game was just something else! Truly Amazing!
One of the most spectacular Bang retirements! Great to see the driver walked away perfectly fine from the incident, and didn’t miss any further races.
Still remember how I boggled when the rear just suddenly snapped :D
Man, that oldschool chicane at Monza
It's beautiful ❤
@@TedMeat A staple for a long time... until 2000...
Happy to see Bang's able to race right now in Jerez!
Same here! :)
GP3 and GP4 confirmed. We have Bang for a while.
At least the entire 90s and bit for the early 2000s :)
I still blame Reubens mechanics for this, as this happened right after a pit stop. Dubious and treacherous tactics.
Frierdich Bang got all the Rubens mechanics fired after this so no more problems for Bang (and no more mechanics for Rubens).
Cannot believe that Friedrich got out of that car uninjured. Incredible luck! ;-)
He bumped his head and wondered in the forests of Monza for couple of weeks. Luckily he was found just before the next Grand Prix!
5 seconds penalty, for no direct replay! please confirm!

Bang went out with a bang!
Cool stuff!
" on the upside the grip is a definitely better" fail
The blowing tire kinda ruined the grip :(
Looks like me having engine failure race over race after several laps in Nascar Thunder 2004. That pretty disappointing .
It is disappointing but part of the fun at the same time :)
@@TedMeat Indeed! But my desk doesn't like the punches 😂
Impact at around 140km/h and barely scratches the paint.

@@TedMeat On the other hand, In GP3 the cars tends to take off like an airplane at every contact. And GP4 was plagued by any sort of bugs...
What was the word at 0:36 (just when car begin to spun)?
I think I said "Panis, 2,5 seconds ahEAHD" :D
@@TedMeat Thanks. 😀
I was stunned when I lost it at eau rouge and tore the car in two!
Yeah, after the biggest crashes there's nothing but the monocoque left :D
Bang we miss you! Get back to race soon ❤️

What happened, car just randomly spun out and malfunctioned...
It was a puncture. At the worst possible location :D
I just bought myself a playseat and a steering wheel. What do i need to do to be able to play this on a modern pc?

Well dang... that was short!😕
Hang in there, buddy.✨🤗✨
You too buddy!

Imagine if codemasters titles or just any modern racer in general could have moments like these
Not user caused at least

that crash looked like Imola 94 Senna
