Wow! The difference is incredible! Glad to see this working for you too. I have to say it makes the video easier to watch too Tough going back after using it!
Thank you for making a video on the app! Quite confusing to get 60fps on ICR1. Only one frame out of four created by the game itself :D And yeah, very hard to go back now...
@@TedMeat @GPLaps nice to see you both guys talking to each other as I really like your content 🙏 you should considering a crossover. TedMeat meets GPLaps ... or battles ... or whatever.
Thanks for the video I was finally able to get LS working as I could finally see what effect it produces when set correctly. If anyone else is struggling to get LS to kick in, under rendering sync mode try out the fractional vsync options. If anyone uses Dosbox Pure in Retroarch to run the game, make sure to set Retroarch vertical refresh rate to 60 under video>output even if you have a high refresh rate display otherwise the core doesn't run at full speed and there will be sound issues.
Recently discovered it too. Haven't tried it on any racing sims yet, but I did try it with some old games that were locked at 30fps. Racing games are probably the most challenging for the app since it's a lot of fast, constant movement, and it's going to result in the most artifacting. I find that elements from the scenery like billboards are the most affected. Your actual line of sight when you're driving is the least affected so it's really not that immersion breaking. Anyway, it's a great app, because Nvidia and AMD's frame generation is usually cherry picked by those companies which games it's available in, where as lossless scaling can do it in anything that moves (albeit not with the level of accuracy of something like DLSS)
Yeah I agree. Was actually quite surprised how weird it looked on the video, as you said you don't really pay attention whilst driving. Just tried this with IndyCar Racing 2 and it was flawless! Very smooth and no noticeable artifacting. With Grand Prix 2 it was not so great, don't really know why. Seemed to skip frames a lot more, wonder if it's because the weird FPS on GP2 🤔
So great! I tested GP2 and now it works very perfect. As you said it is impossible to back to the vanilla after that. In the config.ini I changed the value in the line "this value grealty affects both framepacing and stability dxgi_frametime_buffer_size = 15" I switched from 15 to 1 and it works smoothly !
Just seen this vid after playing around a lot with Lossless Scaling this week. I was also prompted after seeing GPLaps play GPL. Makes a massive difference to Indycar! Anyone tried this on GP2/3/4? Lossless Scaling app wouldn’t work for me on those..
I briefly tried it with GP2 and it worked ok, just like with ICR and ICR2. GP3 and GP4 are probably going to cause problems, as they just barely run on a modern PC anyways.
@@TedMeat thanks TM I’ll have another mess around RE: GP2. Something I’m not doing right (probably with dosbox). Would prefer to have the LS app on my XP boot, but I believe it requires Steam & only 64bit OS.
I guess for me it's better kind of horrific since now it doesn't hurt my head 😁 And you don't really notice the crowd making waves when driving. Frame skipping is a bigger problem imo.
Yeah. Still needs some sort of a super AI to improve the resolution, get rid of the distortions and frame drops. Then no ophthalmologist needed. However you still need psychotherapy after dealing with the AI.
I had it on x4, so 60 fps 😁 And I agree, the result might be better on 30 but doubling the frames didn't seem to do anything with this game. I didn't spend too much time fiddling with the settings though.
Why did you delete the Grand Prix 4 guide for Windows 10? It was the best guide to install the game...! Is it outdated or something? New guide incoming?
@@foxtochopkun4438 Hi and thank you, glad to hear you liked the guide. However TH-cam didn't. I did not delete the video, it got taken down for being "harmful content" and I got a warning 😅 I have no clue why. Obliviously tried to appeal but some robot said no.
@@TedMeat wtf? What do they mean 'harmful content'? Please, if you could upload the video in Mega or somewhere... Your guide is the only one that worked for me and I'm having trouble installing it on Windows 11. Would you please share it with me in some way? Thank you!
I see your point. I don't mind the blur though. And of course I went overboard with the fps increase, it's x4. It might be better on x2 but for me doubling the frames didn't do anything, idk why.

It looks like youre racing on shrooms
It's great to get the experience without having to do the shrooms.

What kind of sorcery is this? I'm watching this without blood pouring from my eyes.
It's a very peculiar feeling isn't it.
Could 1990 be slightly less painful now?
It's possible, but I still need to do some more testing with GP2

Playing cart world series on ps1 emulation with lossless scaling is so good.

@@MichaelR82 awesome to hear! I still have to test it a bit more. Any tips on the settings? 😊
Oh, apparently I only read the first lines in your comment, there were instructions included! Sorry! Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try it out!
This I would like to very much see on TH-cam - with instructions. Perhaps I could use this in my future seasons, but it must be absolutely stable.

Huge improvement, you will still need a visit to the ophthalmologist after more than 30 minutes of looking at those graphics.

Haha, I thought of this myself :D
Next game, GP2 !
Some testing still needed, but I'm seriously considering using this with GP2 if it works ok!
how many more fps are you getting here? maybe is better to not boost a lot in such old game, i would leave it in 30 maximum

This looks awful, all the warping and blur is atrocious. I'd take 15fps or actually hacking the game to run uncapped over this any day.
