Well done for the Sunday show. Midas, what can you say? Not a lot but the fish like them. Alway handy to have something a wee bit different in your box.
The tying weekend was excellent!! Well done for getting them all together Lindsay. The Midas video is good, was one of the first that I saw on TH-cam. Your variant will definitely do as well as the red one or the firey brown one. Great tie!!! Keep em coming!! ATB Chris.
Scruffy flies are usually effective flies. I liked the first fly you demo'd in 2019, personally I will be trying the both of them this year! Thanks Lindsay, very appreciated!
Lindsey, I'm sure the other examples of the "Midas", including your other one, have a hackle attached at the thorax. On this fly have you deliberately left the hackle off, (as some tiers have done) actually as a dry fly, I think it looks really good, scruffy and would probably float all day
Interesting fly, it looks like you caught half a dozen fish on it already and they broke a couple of threads. Although I have seen a couple similar beauties produced by Kelly Gallop’s team in their 5 minute fly tying challenge at the slide inn fly shop, I have also seen a couple specimens when cleaning out the trunk of my car at the end of the fishing season. Seriously, nicely done Lindsay.
Love the midas I've had some great days with them tho the ones I tie have a hackle not sure if it makes a difference I've also tied some with a Deerhurst wing to good effect to.
As a careful user of materials. I am saving the butts from the base of hopper and daddy legs for using in Midas patterns. Also most of my dubbing materials I add some extra different colour or materials ie hares mask or a trace of a synthetic to seals fur.
Hi Ian, I went totally barbless nearly eight years ago and initially used FM Grab Gapes. After being straightened out more than once I decided to change and have used several brands since. I settled on Hanak as they suit both my river fishing and Stillwater. In my humble opinion they are pretty hard to beat.
Loving all your videos, I’ve been tying for more years than I care to remember. But I can’t remember the original tying for the “Honey Bear”, which was very popular back in the day. Do you know this pattern, if so any chance of a video. Cheers Steve
Hi Lindsay, did you not tie a greenwell hackle in after the legs in the original dressing, then more dubbing and finished it off with the gold dubbing ?
Well done for the Sunday show.

I don't think there is an uglier fly out there.....lol.
Tried one on Draycote last week and boy do they work. Cheers Lindsay
Great stuff pal.

Glad you enjoyed it!
nicely done sir, Brenig written all over it
I have it in mind pal.
Nice Fly tie-up. Good videos thank you, Lindsay Simpson.
Thanks for watching!
That'd work well on the welsh resi's Lindsay. Cracking variation!
I did whittle it up with Lyn Clywedog in mind to be honest. desperate to get a visit there. I hear the dry fly sport is amazing.
Very nice fly Lindsay. I'm sure it does its job well. Thank you for sharing.
I hope I get a chance to use it!

They will both have their time in the sun pal 👍
Hm? I like that fly. Tanks for that Lindsay🤩
You’re welcome 😊
Nice one Lindsay, I like the seals fur mix your using . I’ve had some cracking days with the Midas .. cheers Stevie
Thanks 👍 The mix is just done by hand.
its my type of fly. Scruffy. Love it,great video
Thanks for watching!

Hi Mike, no that was an error on my part I usually always add a hackle.
Still a great fly, well tied, well done.
It is t the most elegant fly, but it looks buggy as anything. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
I like the look of this fly even though its "scruffy" I'll give it a go. Stay safe Big Davie
Its fairly easy pal, worth a go.
Fantastic, I’ll give it a go 👍
Well worth it.

Thanks Lee much appreciated pal

Gary, the ones I tie usually have a hackle....lol.
Forgetting the hackle on it’s day is probably a good idea. Especially earlier into the hatch ie start of a sedge hatch as a struggling emerging fly
May well be pal.
Interesting pattern, nice :)
Thank you! 😊

Always good to maximise materials pal.
Going to give it a try. As far as looks? Around here we call that " shot at and missed but shit at and hit'.
Fair play ;-)
Well done for the use of barbless hooks, can I ask why the use of Hanak and why black nickel, thanx

Glad you like them, never even heard of the Honey Bear though.
Very popular on the Lake of Menteith back in the 1980’s
I put on a brass bead instead of the gold dubbing and fish this as a nymph or swing it. It is deadly!!!
Did you add a slight black hackle on the first one in the vice ?
Hi Mark, Yes and there should have been on in this one but I overlooked it.
Very nice pattern, I’ll try adding a hackle 👍really appreciate all you great videos you put up
@@markjones4031 Thanks pal, I even get some of them right....lol
Hanak hooks are they only available directly from Hanak Online?
Hi Mick, no you can get them from the UK distributer Unique Flies and I think there are a few other stores that carry them.
@@lindsayiflyfish thanks for that pal

Jim..... I did only noticed I missed that stage after I watched the video back! ....lol. Thought I would get away with it, well caught.
@@lindsayiflyfish Hi Lindsay what hackle would you put on? A black hen or greenwell maybe. Jimf
cool tankiou
Thanks buddy.
