Im intp female. I never questioned teachers nor pointed out errors and I rarely do that to people now. It's pointless. People don't care, so why cause a scene and put negative attention on myself? It's enough that I know the truth. That and I avoid stupid people and would never share my thoughts with them. They don't want them nor deserve them.

I'm an INTP, and I think that what the panel was trying to say in the last 30 minutes or so is that our gift is not that we have Ti as our dominant function (ISTP have that too), our gift is that beside Ti dom, we have Ne as auxiliary function. The combo Ti Ne is our true gift, no just being Ti dom.

It often seems more like a Ti/Ne web as opposed to simply Ti and then Ne.
Entp's are much more obvious in this way but their web seems extremely broad but sometimes not deep enough, at least to me.

As a fan of Joyce's channel and an intp female I've been looking out for this video for a while. I wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed the discussions about early life and relationship challenges and would have loved to hear more especially about any organization or procrastination issues the panel had; how strengths could be seen as weaknesses and any ideas they have about being such an under-represented sector of population and being misunderstood. Also, how knowing typology has improved possibly improved their lives.

This is so healing! This has hit all of my issues and for the first time in a long time I saw a raw, unpolished reflection of who I really am. I didn't even realize that I'd made so many modifications to my thinking process so my external manifestation would not be a typical INTP. It wasn't until I saw this video that I realized how exhausting it's been trying to fit in. I would subconsciously mould my personality after people I've met or seen on screen who are likeable and have set guidelines on how to act/react as they would, and expecting others to like me for it. However, watching this I felt my mask and all my accrued pretenses fall away. I haven't felt this free since I was very young. So, thank you all for participating. You don't know what it means to me.

25:50-26:23 Sheryl summoned Susanne's cat! She piqued its interest with "I want to be the cat," but it politely waited for her to finish her metaphor before making an appearance. ISFJ cat? 🐈😻 lol
Btw, Joyce, I loved this panel. So relatable (I won't begin to list all the ways because Si will go overboard*) . You had me at Linda Berens.
*Although, to answer Naisu's question, I also started reading at a young age (though I avoided talking at all costs). My mother even says I weaned myself off breastmilk when I was 8 months old (though I have my own theories about that, and it might be unrelated to development). Like Susan, I was always the youngest in my class (also bday in late Sept.), esp when I got skipped ahead. (side note, I also taught myself how to say please & thank you growing up). I collected rocks and feathers when I was a kid. I've been known to keep spiders as pets. This eventually developed into an entomology hobby. I'm more interested in the taxonomy of categorizing various species, and this extends to botany, birds, mammals, and even bacteria. I suspect many Ti users enjoy categorizing in this way, according to a logical taxonomy that differentiates observable traits (although some distinctions can be somewhat arbitrary). I also enjoy categorizing meteors according to their source, based on the radiant point in the sky, and identifying medical conditions based on signs and symptoms. But I think when you couple Ti with Si, there's an urge not only to identify and categorize, as precisely and accurately as possible, but also to collect specimens from your adventures to keep for nostalgia purposes. So as not to forget Ne, I also completely relate to Rebecca's interdisciplinary approach. Okay, I know I said I wouldn't do it, but I went a bit overboard with detail in this comment -- but, for Fe reasons, I swear! 🙃

Omg...this is like theraphy. I had been upset because when I got ill I was the one that healed myself, and was upset by the slap dash attitude of some of the medical practitioners I had encountered. Particularly that they did not seem to take the time to do a proper diagnosis and gather all the facts. How can I feel safe in a world if I cant even trust an expert. When I was young and ignorant it was good in the way because I trusted the system. Now I dont trust even the experts and of course I have to question and clarify everything. It makes me feel unsafe like I am the only one that can really solve my problems because in my experience ... most of the time I was the one to solve them.

I remember in my childhood the common opinion about me (an INTP) was something like "smart but stupid". That status actually diminished my arrogance and made me always crawl up. At that time I had a lot of different activities like dancing, martial arts, embroidery, singing, and so on. My NT side wasn't uncovered until my TJ-best friend stopped making friends with me because she started to be interested in boys and I didn't. Then I realized that now I have a lot of free time and spare energy, and put it all into studying. It appeared to be very rewarding :).
Also, one strange thing from my childhood is that I had poor vision, but I preferred not to wear glasses most of the time. So, anytime when people complained that I didn't say hello, I just said something like: "Oh! I forgot my glasses and I didn't see you!" I actually vastly used my poor vision to isolate myself from others. I sort of liked people but I got exhausted by them very quickly. Being in the same community for 11 years almost every day was real torture.

Loved seeing more intp females! Hopefully, Joyce, you will continue to find more, and/or include them in mixed group videos! 🙏 I wld've loved to hear them touch more on gender biases, and if they were mistyped at all in the past. As a female I've learned to mask a lot of things (chameleon-like, though I still don't quite fit in), and my greatest growth challenge in life has been trying to figure out the sugar-coated approach etc as mentioned. Not having a lot of female intps to observe and analyze makes trying to type myself even more difficult, so thank you intps for showing up!!

I wouldn’t describe my early tendency to correct teachers or my mom, as me noticing their inconsistencies or imperfections. I wasn’t focused on criticizing them as people at all, and anything they said that was inaccurate was far separated from my personal feelings towards them. Instead, it was a misunderstanding of why we were all there. I mistakenly assumed that as a class we were all as laser focused on the accuracy of ideas, together. I thought we were all engaged in the same pursuit of knowledge. There wasn’t any competition or scorn or any kind of arrogance or dominance in my heart. If I knew I was right, it wasn’t personal pride that I was concerned with, but Truth. As a result, I ended up being accused by my mom quite often, of all sorts of character flaws and it truly traumatized me and broke me early on. I knew that
I did not have any aggressive or argumentative motivations at all. I simply didn’t understand that there were other group dynamics, at play, such as hierarchies and, as Linda mentioned, classroom management. My (INFP)mom and I have been estranged for so long. It’s the deepest sadness and trauma of my life that my mom and I could not understand each other in time. I am 40 years old and am still reduced to tears when I think of how she views me. Intellectual cooperation to me is the way to emotional connection for me. I tried so hard to hash things out because I wanted to connect, but she interpreted it as the opposite. I have very deep psychological and emotional issues now from being misunderstood by my INFP mom, who homeschooled me until middle school. She was my whole world and I will always be somewhat ashamed that my own mother hates me so much and wants nothing to do with me. Learning MBTI and Linda’s ideas especially, have really helped me in recent years.

Omg Sheryl, I did that exact same thing with reading out loud. I'd count ahead, prepare my section, then zone out or read ahead. Worked like 80% of the time but a few times I started reading and people looked at me weird and I realized they skipped around that day.
Nothing worse than the teacher randomly saying to the kid before you "Ok, now skip ahead a chapter and start there" and I'm just panicking now trying to figure out where the rest of the class still was. Everyone else turns 1 page, and I'm flipping desperately through the entire book, glancing at the table of contents, and looking at the kid's book numbers next to me, lol.
Same for me with Susan, I almost NEVER did homework at home, I did it during the lesson, maybe on the bus. My parents wouldn't belive me so I'd show them my homework. But of course, I HATED math (still do, think I have dyscalculia or just ADHD failing working memory) so I'd show them my done homework for English, History, etc and "forget" that I also had math homework, lol.
Also like Susan, After I learned that the flipping frantically thing ^ didn't work out well, I started putting my hardcover Dungeons and Dragons books under my textbooks and reading both. Worked well until we had a teacher that also played D&D. He just walked by and closed my D&D book once while lecturing without even skipping a beat, haha. I always respected him after that.

Can't believe how much Susan's stories line up with mine, haha. I used to test INTJ back when I was a watch-slave. I did literally the same thing. Set it wrong on purpose to de-tangle myself from rigid conformity. Even today, I let my alarm clock run almost 10 mins fast, both to induce my ADHD panic when I realize I'm late (Even though it's time to get ready) and to remind myself that time is basically just a construct and never objective. (To relieve the stress I feel from others. So people who freak out about 2 min lateness can just learn to wait, lol.)

I also got in trouble for arguing “correcting” my teacher. Only time I got in trouble in school.

I find it very interesting that INTP’s are not well liked in Japan, since I found out recently that there’s a significant higher percentage of them there than here in North America

There are alot of atypical illnesses with atypical ppl. I use more holistic approaches and into health. Some atypical lady friends and I wrote an ebook to help ppl who can't very help with those mcas pots fibro eds ect. We had some j type aspies working on it. They added schedules, some of us did research, psychiatrist views, and stories for others to connect with in these hard unknown or no cure 😳 illnesses. Autoimmune. Sorry for the dumping. I dabble in to many things and have no real job other than TH-cam. But like to share my 🧠

I knew someone else would be on the spectrum. I was picking that up pretty quick. A little different connections sometimes. It's hard to tell with intp. The few I know are autistic or adhd or both like me

Wow I totally relate to the story about calculating what sentence would be mine and then memorizing it! I would totally do this and I'm sure I did plenty of things exactly like that as a child! #intpfemale

No such thing as controversy if it's true, IMO. Just hurt egos and soft-ground foundation identity building being shaken.

I offer this montage of clips from "Broadcast News" in homage to the women on this panel. It's been a long time since I watched this movie, so I could be off the mark, but there is at least a strong argument to be made that Holly Hunter's character, Jane Craig, a TV news producer, is an INTP. The first clip, where Jane as a girl berates her father, speaks for itself. I would also draw your attention to 0:46 where Jane whispers "No, it's awful" and 1:02 where Blair (Joan Cusack) tells Jane "Except for socially, you're my role model." th-cam.com/video/YZ-yYcUmWSA/w-d-xo.html

Hearing the stories about the teachers made me sigh. How do grown adults let a child get to them so much they either remove themselves or the student. Unless they were actual terrors who disrupt the class etc. I don't get it. I really don't. So what you were wrong, there's nothing wrong with being wrong and that's what students need to learn. How else will we learn anything? 🤦‍♀

Did you (Joyce, I guess?) know that alchemy is theorized to actually be about people in the first place? Transmuting "common" material (peasants) into gold (Self-actualized and active people) that was more useful. The same way witchcraft is highly metaphorical and "eyes of newt" actually means different slang for plants. At least "true" or philosophical alchemy texts, not the later stuff where people were believing the metaphors literally. Basically just typology science from the medieval ages and earlier.
This is not widely accepted btw (Not up to Te standards) but it made enough esoteric sense to me that I consider it true.

Question = if naisu has tritype 514 why isn't she 5w4 but 5w6?

    • @self7341
      @self7341 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Naisu here. Based on my research and understanding, enneagram core (which is more internal and nature-centric) with the wing (XwX configuration) as an identifier is separate from tritype configuration that is a stack of different cores from the gut-heart-head groups and make up to "represents the ego’s preferred defense strategy" (so it goes outward in "response" and might mostly be nurture-centric of how it was developed). So having a 4 at the tail-end of my tritype will not mean that I prefer a w4 for an identification for my core enneagram self identifier since they're separate from each other and are identifiers for different aspects of my ego.
