    All the hate about the spraying technique when this guy has been doing this for years successfully... He specifically said that you can be sloppy with the spray technique and still get a great and uniform result. Thanks for the free lesson. I'm a pressure cleaner and may look into adding wood staining after seeing how easy this is. Subscribed and liked.

    I feel like 99% of these people commenting didnt listen to a word he said.
    1) the atomized stain wont stick on overspray very far, the larger tip is for coverage and speed
    2) its oil based
    3) his spray technique doesnt matter because theyre putting so much on it is completely saturated, so you dont need to be picky about it.
    4) they chose that particular graco sprayer because it fails less often than anything else they tried. Maybe a larger graco is necessary, but apparently this one is sufficient for the job.
    Any other stupid comments from "experts" who didnt listen to his reasons for why he does things the way he does?

    The older guy that asked about how it reacts to galvanized steel, some galvanized steel posts are porous vs aluminum which is not and the stain would wipe off easily, as for the galvanized steel I assume the stain would soak in and not be removable. Is this correct or does it wipe off easily ?

    • @Fencearmor
      @Fencearmor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stain and Seal Experts stains run right off fence posts and require little to no wiping on vertical posts. Metal gate frames also need some wiping. Their stain is a non drying formula so you have a little time to get it done. Happy wiping!

    21:20 ... When you spray right over the door hardware, and wipe it off just a few minutes later, is it coming off so easily because ANY brand of oil stain is non-porous and won't stick to metal? I just borrowed a neighbor's sprayer and had to really work to peel the oil-based stain off the metal handle that had dried on it from a spraying job a year earlier. Was it hard to get off because it had been caked-on the handle for so long?

    • @Fencearmor
      @Fencearmor  ปีที่แล้ว

      We highly recommend checking out the Stain & Seal Experts TH-cam channel, as they show many instances of coming back the next day and wiping off the metal when using EXPERT Stain & Seal. We believe with other brands it is the difference in formula and that they contain VOC’s. Hope that helps.

    • @Fencearmor

      When applying the stain, it is a flood coat that is absorbed right away, so the same process applies when re-staining. It is a perfect opportunity to offer a customer a maintenance package if you are in the industry, or to discuss with your contractor if you are a homeowner.

    • @Fencearmor

      Hi Ronel, thank you for your question. We always recommend masking off the area, but if anything gets underneath it, it is easily removed. You can also spray it with water beforehand and that will allow it to be removed as well. Vinyl has a lot of crevasses so it is best to mask it.

It is always best to cover a car. Always keep pavers, concrete and other porous surfaces wet while staining nearby and rinse periodically. If you get stain on a paved surface it may be stained. For just a homeowner...pump sprayer. How much coverage can I get per gallon? Also, 1 year old cedar fence. Southern Louisiana. Transparent or semitransparent?

    • @Fencearmor
      @Fencearmor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Transparent Stain & Sealer is recommended for a re-coat every 1 to 2 years.
      Semi-Transparent Stain & Sealer is recommended for a re-coat every 2 to 2.5 years.
      Semi-Solid Stain & Sealer is recommended for a re-coat every 3 to 3.5 years.
      When determining stain coverage for decks you will need one gallon of stain per 200 square feet. For basic privacy fences with side by side pickets, you can expect to use a gallon of stain per 12 linear feet (both sides). For other styles of fences (shadowbox, 4-rail, 3-rail, board on board, etc.) coverage rates will differ.
      We recommend picking the color you like best. Hope this helps answer your question.

    good video but as a construction professional I have some doubts
    1. I have two of those pumps ( Graco 390/395). This pump isnt strong enough to properly atomize Oil
    Use the Graco Mark V to make sure that product is atomized correctly
    Also, not cleaning the sprayer will lead to repacking required a lot
    Spray technique and cleanliness is very important for a uniform finish
    This guy isn't as GC I'd wager, so He might have this somewhat down to a science but for me construction is an art form and my boy here killed it but forgot some very important points

    You are using a 521 tip for spraying stain? I get the idea of getting a job done quickly, but why would you be so wasteful? I would even understand pushing a 515 if that is the idea (when the recommended tip range here is 311 to 413!). You stated 10 ln. ft. / gal...so 60 sq. ft. / gal here? This seems absurd. I am used to roughly 125 - 150 sq. ft. / gal. This would make a job extremely expensive on the product side. At $30 / gal (just throwing out a "box store number") a huge amount of your profit margin is simply wasted (at 3x the product that should be used). Hell, even at $20-$23 a gallon for that matter. I am so confused as to why this video was made / released by a professional company. No disrespect intended...I'm just taken back.

    • @Fencearmor
      @Fencearmor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment Mr. James. We spoke with the contractor directly and he shared that this stain product has no thinners so the 521 tip is required because it is a much thicker product. Contractors agree on this universally who use this type of stain.
      We recommend 125 sqft per gallon and the math for staining both sides of a 6’ fence is 100 linear ft x 12’ / 125 sqft per gallon = 9.6 gallons of stain which is about 10’ of fence (both sides) per gallon of stain used. We’re not so different after all.

    • @auto1234
      @auto1234 ปีที่แล้ว

      For oil-based transparent, 521 is a soso tip for what you’re trying to accomplish. You need to vary your technique depending on how the wood is reacting. The goal is to saturate the wood to the point of rejecting the stain, without wasting product. This is even more important to pay attention to as you go up to semi-transparent and solids, tip size can be varied here as well.
      I use a double-tip extension with 621s for penetrating stain, and I get a wider fan that’s a more controllable spray with about half the pressure you see in this silly video - for reference, this setup can easily finish 300ft in about 30mins or less.
