So happy you guys gave Durians another try! If you guys wanna try it again. I recommend buying Mon Thong Durians at TOPS supermarket because their durians are from reliable farms. I don't think this durian seller understood you guys, the one they gave to you have a little brown spot which means it's too soft.

This is first time for Durian, but not last time too.... I waitting for second time Durian is a special fruit that must be eaten many times until you fall in love with your whole heart.
Tip: how to peel salat way easier. Pick 2 salats and rub them togerther until all spikes are gone and then start peeling it. I'm Thai and Mon Thong is the only type of durian I eat. No worries if you don't like it, many thai don't love it either hahaha. Please try durian chips and RAMBUTAN !! I bet you like it
Rubbing them together definitely seems like it would help! But thank you!! We need to remind ourselves that not even all Thai people like durian either! lol. Durian chips are on our list to try! But we already tried rambutan and it was so good!! 😍
You can also put the Sala in a hard box or a strong paper bag, and then shake them a little seriously (but not violently). Then all those tiny spikes will fall off.
I really love your reaction hahaha It's cute that both of you give it another try. Thank you for trying for us. It's fine, durian is not for everyone. But you know what's the easiest durian to try?? Fried durian. (ทุเรียนทอด or Turian Tod in Thai) It's basically a crisp. No smell, no bad taste, crispy. All of my friends love fried durian and they HATE durian. Every time I go back to Thailand, my friends told me to bring back like one or two kilos lol
Aww thank you for such a nice comment! That's so funny that all your friends love fried durian but hate fresh durian 🤣 where do you live now?! I'd never heard of durian before Thailand! 😱
@@NataliesPassport I'm living in UAE now. For me personally, Jackfruit is worse than Durian. I can't stand Jackfruit at all but a lot of people seem to love it. Durian is fine for me, but also even for Thai people Durian isn't really welcome everywhere hahaha
@@NataliesPassport Yes, UAE is so different from Thailand and just like you two, I love to explore new places. I think you should try!! I hate it but it's not something you can find outside tropical country. But try to find a firm and light yellow one because it's easier to eat. The softer one tends to have sweeter taste and stronger scent and it's harder to eat. Also if you have a chance to try Longan (ลำไย or Lamyai in Thai) you should. It looks a bit like Longong that you tried in the other video but far better in my opinion. Very sweet.
@@windlife traveling is the best!!! Lol I read longan and was going to say we tried it.....but you're right - it was the other one! We'll have to keep our eyes open for some longan! 😍
Many foreigners encounter problems eating durian for the first time, often encountered as overcooked, strong smell and starting to not taste good. Sometimes it also finds a bitter taste. For Thai people, prefer the peeled form and choose and choose again. Eat it fresh. There will be no bad smell and delicious. Hope you find durian like that.
Wow so the first 4 we have had and really liked all of them!!! 😍 we still need to try jack fruit and sugar apple! But mafire and mayomchit?! I've never even heard of those two 😱😱😱 they're added to the list now! 🥰
To peel Sala fruit (Salacca) I recomment to rub the fruit with paper first to get rid of tiny spikes or you can pick it into plastic bag then shake..shake... shake.. after that you can peel it easily
The way to choose mangosteen is to choose the one that the color of the leaf on the top of the fruit is not green, but to choose the one with the color is toword brown or brown color. You might like it more.
Next time have a big bite on Drian or ask the shop to cut Durian vertically into 2 portions ,take the seed and share one each. Have a big bite like you would eat bread. To enhance the way to have Durians, you should have them in a cooler room temperature but definitely not in the hot sun
if you want to avoid Sala('snake fruit' called by their shell looked like snake scale) spikes your hands, pull them out of their bunch one by one, put them in a plastic basket, shake them well then holes of the basket will break their spikes out that will easy way to get rid of those spikes, enjoy eating!

Thank you for trying durian. Maybe if you ever come Singapore or Malaysia, you should try the durian there. The durian will be cheaper, taste better. You will get the whole shell instead.
Sala = name of the palm species Salacca zalacca (Gaertner) Voss in the Palmae family. The fruit's rind is scaly, yellow to brown. The tip of the scales is sharp, easily broken, cream-colored, thick, sweet taste.
It's like you not going to eat overripe banana but you will use it to make banana cake instead. That's why choosing perfectly ripe durian is critical. By the way, the red spiky fruit is called "SA-LA". I enjoyed you guys video :)
That makes sense! I would definitely nott want to eat the bananas I use to make banana bread. We were so confused by the name of that fruit because it was different everywhere! Sala/salat/salak lol thank you though!! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank youuu 🥰🥰🥰 if we ever try durian again we'll make sure it's the first fruit we eat! (and we'll also make sure to have some mangosteen for after because it's AMAZING! 😍)
I understand those of you who may not like durian. It's really hard for people who haven't eaten before. But for me durian is my favorite fruit. and looking forward to eating it when it's in season😋😋
It’s so funny that so many people love it yet others hate it!! The most recent time we tried it (with our parents) it wasn’t as bad as the first couple we tried. But the first 2 we’re also more ripe 🤷♀️ maybe there’s hope for us still! Lol
only for the monthong variety (the one you had), after cutting from the tree. most vendors in thailand will use a plant hormone to control the day of ripeness. so, their durian will not all ripen at the same time before they can sell them. it's safe to eat but it's not as good as the one not using it. you can tell this by looking at the stem. they will cut it short right at the bumpy part in the middle of the stem and applying the hormone on it. please look at Mickey Stoch ytb channel-- extreme thai food tour on a motorbike clip at 25:00. i'm sure you will like durian if you had tried the same (note the stem still had the bumpy part and the one that didn't have, fell off by itself, not cut) ps. in thailand when durian is mature, they will cut it way before it 's ripe while malaysia will let it ripen on the tree. if not using plant hormone, this mature durian will ripen within 3-10days after cut. it's illegal to sell unmature durian in thailand.
@@NataliesPassport lol Thailand has over 200 varieties. I think only 13 are commercially grown. Malaysia has a # of varieties too. Take care. Safe travels.
I watched you try two parts. Glad you feel better. because the durian in the first part looks too messy Please have a third part. I want to see you guys eat crispy durian ทุเรียนทอด(Durian Tod) . Keep trying Monthong durians that are a little firmer, if it's the smell you don't like. Musa King in Malaysia is a good one to try. Watch Mark Wiens' KL video where he tries it. That one sounded dreamy. Enjoy your travels. Great videos.
I just looked up that market - I think we passed it on a bus last week 😍 we'll have to check it out sometime!
Come to Malaysia next .we also had so many variety of fruits and foods.. anyway nice video..glad you happy in asean
Thank you! 🥰 Malaysia is definitely on our list of places to go!! Right now we're living in Bangkok, but next year we should be traveling a little again ^_^
Thank you for trying durian. Maybe if you ever come Singapore or Malaysia, you should try the durian there. The durian will be cheaper, taste better. You will get the whole shell instead.
After trying it twice we don't really want to try it again 🤣 but maybe we'll have to try when we make it down there!
I don't think so.Durian from Thai is the best durian
Nice video 😊👍😊
Thank you!! 🥰🥰
Sala = name of the palm species Salacca zalacca (Gaertner) Voss in the Palmae family. The fruit's rind is scaly, yellow to brown. The tip of the scales is sharp, easily broken, cream-colored, thick, sweet taste.
Neither of us had tried (or even heard of) sala before this! We were surprised how much we liked it!!
Ha ha ha lovely Durian time from. Hope you will try it again.
This was us trying it again 🥺🥺🥺 lol the first time was MUCH worse! lol
Thank youuu 🥰🥰🥰 if we ever try durian again we'll make sure it's the first fruit we eat! (and we'll also make sure to have some mangosteen for after because it's AMAZING! 😍)
Thai also make and drink "Sala" juice, it is absolutely refreshing, delicious and healthy.
It sounds like it would be so good!
The fruit at 2.30 min. is apple custard. It so yummy like custard . Please try it for next time 😊.
Okay, we will! 😍😍❤️
Lol
I can't stop laughing when you tried eating during. It's like you can't even figure out what you are feeling about the fruit.
🤣🤣🤣 lollll we couldn’t!! I think because it wasn’t as bad as the first one we tried, but it still wasn’t good so we were just….confused! Lol
😬😬😬
U guys should try Musang durian which u can get in malaysia. The durian u eat are not sweet or creamy.
Ah yeah?! I've never heard of that kind!
Oh wow I've never heard of grilling durian! It sounds like it could be better that way!
Your level up 👍👍👍
First time failed 😖😵🥴
Second is more educated 🤔🤔🤔
Third time lucky, maybe 😆😆😆
Aww thank you!! It definitely wasn't as bad the second time!
2:30 It is Custard apple (Noi-Na). It tastes pretty sweet and it has a lot of seeds inside. It is one of my favorite fruit.
Thank you!! We still need to try custard apples! We had no idea what they were 😭
@@NataliesPassport Very tasty and sweet. Pretty sure, you will luv it.
The red fruit is called "Sala" from "Salacca" some called snake fruit..
Some of them do look like snake skin! 😱
I could grab it all, I really admire to the king of Thai fruit.
You can have the durian if we can keep the mangosteen and sala 😍😍😍 lol
Nice video
Thank you! 🥰
That's so cool! I love how people go from hating durian to thinking it's amazing! Unfortunately we haven't got there yet :/
only for the monthong variety (the one you had), after cutting from the tree. most vendors in thailand will use a plant hormone to control the day of ripeness. so, their durian will not all ripen at the same time before they can sell them. it's safe to eat but it's not as good as the one not using it. you can tell this by looking at the stem. they will cut it short right at the bumpy part in the middle of the stem and applying the hormone on it. please look at Mickey Stoch ytb channel-- extreme thai food tour on a motorbike clip at 25:00. i'm sure you will like durian if you had tried the same (note the stem still had the bumpy part and the one that didn't have, fell off by itself, not cut)
ps. in thailand when durian is mature, they will cut it way before it 's ripe while malaysia will let it ripen on the tree. if not using plant hormone, this mature durian will ripen within 3-10days after cut. it's illegal to sell unmature durian in thailand.
😱😱 oh wow we didn't know that! Thanks for letting us know!
Maybe Dorian is likes FERNET. You have to try it couple times until you love it!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 LOL fernet omg 🤦♀️ but yeah, maybe! I don't like that one either 🤣
I tried six varieties last month in Thailand. Planning to try Malaysian ones next June.
😱😱😱 six varieties?!? You must really love durian!
@@NataliesPassport lol Thailand has over 200 varieties. I think only 13 are commercially grown. Malaysia has a # of varieties too. Take care. Safe travels.
That's what we've heard! Although we're still not on that level yet..... 😬
spike fruit is call sa-la (waive fruit) and monthong is mean golden pillow. ^^
The sala was SO good! 😍😍😍
@@NataliesPassport ❤❤
We recently tried a harder one with our parents and it was MUCH better than this one! 😱
😋👍
More for you!! lol
Thank youu 🥰
OK. Durian not choose you Haha. Love ur clip ^___^
🤣🤣🤣 it definitely did not choose us 😬
I watched you try two parts.
Glad you feel better.
because the durian in the first part looks too messy
Please have a third part.
I want to see you guys eat crispy durian ทุเรียนทอด(Durian Tod) .
It's like potato chips.
Many Thai people like to eat it so much that they can't stop eating it.
Hope you are happy in Thailand.
Aw thank you! 🥰 The second time was definitely a lot better! We still need to try durian chips! Also durian ice cream! Are there any other fun durian snacks?! We could try them all in part 3 😜🤣
@@NataliesPassport
Desserts with durian ingredients that are famous in Thailand
1. Fried durian chip (durian tod =
2. Durian ice cream
3. Durian with sticky rice
4. Stir-fried durian (preserved durian) it like durian jam ( ทุเรียนกวน = durian Kwuan)
5. durian flavour candy
Yessss - we thought that was crazy that some of them were 1,200 😱 although I guess they also get a lot more expensive than that too! 😱😱
It's crazy there are sooo many different kinds!
Thank you! 🥰
We just tried a hard one with our parents and it was soooo much better!! We were surprised none of our parents hated it even though it was their first time! 😱
2:13 300 baht / 100 gram - 500 baht / 100 gram - 800 baht / 100gram - 1200 baht / 100gram
😱😱😱 crazy! We didn't realize it was that expensive!
Natalie, you are going to love durian for sure. I smell it. Ha ha ha.
🤣🤣🤣 hopefully it smells better than the durian! 😬🤣
My mom didn’t like durian when she first came to Malaysia. But she got accustomed to it and it’s now her favourite. Once you like it, you cannot unlike it after that…haha…
lol that's so crazy how it can change so much!! Maybe it's better if we don't like it so we don't crave durian all the time 🤣
@@NataliesPassport my wife is arab women she took 10 years to finally like durian. Now she is avid fan of king of fruit the durian! I'm Malaysian.
@@name-bt1ti lol so I guess we still have a couple more years for it to grow on us! 🤣
We thought this one was less ripe 😭 but if there are even less ripe ones we might like it more! 😍
May I ask, does all of these fruits not sold in the supermarket in your country?
No, not at all!!! I'm American and Carles is from Spain....most of these fruits we've never even seen before! 😱 but that's part of the reason we love trying them because most of them are SO good!!! 😍
@@NataliesPassport O.K.
10-15 years ago
Durian 40-50 B/ kg
when it famous
China like best fruit
Popular and export fruits it up
Price
We're still so surprised by how expensive durian can get! 😱
That’s lots of fruits you bought. You two are very open minded to try new fruits. I’m surprised you gave duran a second try and even thinking of tryng it for thid time 🤣🤣🤣
I live in Canada, have tried dragon fruits imported from Vietnam and like the pink dragonfruit more than the white one. However, I think it’s the opposite for Thai dragonfruit - the white one tasted better in my opinion.
We love trying all the fruit here!!! Although I think we can now safely say we tried durian and are not durian fans 🤣 I guess we need to try the white dragonfruit here now!
@@NataliesPassport Ha ha ha I’m not surprised you dont like durian. It’s an extreme fruit that you either like or hate for most people. I eat durian but try to avoid because of its high calorie. But mangosteen...that’s a love for me. I used to eat 4 kgs of it in one shot by myself when i was a kid (most of the weight was on non eatable parts though). 🤣
@@sun_s9067 😱😱 omg so much mangosteen!!! Although I probably would've also eaten a lot if I knew what it was! I just ate a lot of basic fruit like strawberries and grapes and stuff..lol
