I love Durian. Our family used to have a 6 acre durian (Montong) farm just off Jakarta. I've not had durian for more than 10 yrs because I have diabetes 😅 Wonderful to see you, and even the kids, enjoy durian. 😊
From Singapore: I was depressed for whatever reasons,, until the sweet little girl said "I am dressed like a durian." After that my depression vanished permanently. Really wish this wonderful family will visit Singapore if they have not already done so. And yes,. Malaysia is a land of abundance; "filled with milk and honey."; "Filled with gula melaka and sambal".
Ohh how i envy you guys...you get to have durian feast. Especially feasting on the farm itself..soo relaxing and peaceful. I prefer kampung durian which has a stronger flavour.
Yes, the farm was so relaxing and everyone was very helpful and kind. Also, since we went on a weekday it wasn't too busy. We want to try more kampung now since we have so many people saying that is their preference :) Thanks!
In Europe, 1 durian can cost upwards of 50-100 euros each and in South Korea 1 durian can go for US$100 each as they all need to be imported & considered exotic fruit that cost a lot compared to here where it grows naturally.
That’s a lot of durian you guys are trying!…it’s good to see your kids growing up expose to a lot of new things the nature and the world has to offer…my favourite is durian kampung, D24 and the 101@Teka coz they are not so sweet and creamy…If you cannot finish the durian all in one go, you can store it in a freezer n thaw a bit when you want to eat it…it will taste like durian ice cream… There is a malay dessert made from durian called ‘serawa” or some people just call it “bubur durian”…it’s durian cooked with coconut milk, palm sugar for the slight brownish color, white sugar for the sweetness, little corn flour to thicken, and few pandan leaves for fragrant aroma…adjust the sweetness to your liking…it should have the consistency of mushroom/ broccoli cream soup, sweet and creamy and light yellow and a little brownish in color when it is done …eat it with bread slices for breakfast or as dessert…it’s delicious!..some people love it with sticky rice but not for me…give a try if you are curious, you and your kids might like it…i love it more than i love durian itself.
@@KenshoQuest just to remind you, this serawa or bubur durian doesn’t always available in restaurants…may be during the durian season you can find it in Malay restaurants n that’s still quite rare, as this bubur durian is normally cooked at home when people has left durian coz they have too much…I hope you’ll get lucky to find in restaurant, but if you don’t and. since you bought too much durian, i figured may be you want to try cook it yourself…1 can of coconut milk is enough for 10 pieces of durian…cook over slow fire, add little water as you go to get the right consistency…i don’t think any of the western tourists knows about this Malaysian dessert, as i never seen any. of them eat it on utube.
Dear Kensho Quest, if like the durain taste to be bitter sweet then try XO Durain. its nice creamy and Bittersweet. Kumpung Durain is good because every pcs of durain will gives you different flavour.
