dBm is power level relative to 1 milliwatt. So 6 dBm is 4 milliwatts, 10 dBm is 10 milliwatts, 20 dBm is 100 milliwatts, etc. 26 dBm is 400 milliwatts.
@@UbergeeksBiz in a sense, both. Information (what is called "throughput") in a channel is a function of channel bandwidth and signal-to-noise ratio. Read up on Shannon-Hartley Theorem for details. More power improves signal-to-noise ratio, which in turn improves information/throughput. More power would allow you to cover more distance, but increased distance will reduce power. Read up on free-space path loss for details. I think it's admirable that you're reducing power for environmental benefit, but the amount of power saved will be very minimal. The tangible benefit of reducing power will be (a) reducing heat in the power amplifier (which will extend the life of the equipment) and (b) reducing errors in the receiver from signal overload.

Thanks for the video! I'm wondering if you may be able to help me out with two issues...I have a PrismStation 5AC that I want to connect to two Loco 5AC. Currently it's set to Access Point on, PtP mode on. It's connected to a one of the Loco 5ACs and works well. The 1st Loco is set to Access Point off and PtP on. If that is the issue, do I then set both Locos to OFF for AP & PtP? Second issue is that I can't get the devices on the UISP Domain (says unreachable). I did make a domain and it did work until I changed the devices to 192.168.10.x instead of 192.168.1.x. Should they all be back on 1.x? Thanks in advance!
have you used one station for multiple cameras on continuous recording powered by poe switch? ex. Bldg B - 1 stn has 3 cameras powered by poe switch transmitting it to the access point Bldg A w/c is connected to a recorder/nvr?
Great video! I do have a question. I've set up the point to multipoint and it's been working for about 3 years. AP-2 stations. Each station has a router. But recently, after upgrading the firmware of the NSM5, one of the routers stopped working. It's a TP Link Archer 5. After trying to work with it for a few hours, I called TP Link and they only thing they could figure out was to make the router an access point when previously, I had it set up with its own IP. The internet works from the NSM5 and the POE injector, but not through the ARCHER unless it's an AP. Any idea what happened here?
good day sir tnx in your vedio how to comfigure the ubnt ..my question sir how to control the speed of the station antenna or ho to config to assign the speeg lemet anothe station tnx and more power
Depending on where yoru host AP is located determines if you can do a point to multipoint with nanostations. if you have a point not in LoS of the host AP then you will not be able to do it this way and you will need to get a Rocket M5 with it's omnidirectional antenna to use as the host AP. You will be limited to 100 Mbps lan and 802.11N bandwidth throughput. The M series is EoL now replaced by the AC5 and Prisim series. NSAC5 Locos on ebay are cheap enough that it is worth just getting these later models to have gigabit lan and 802.11AC bandwidth throughput just be aware that the AC5's do not come with a poe injector so you will need to source some 24 volt gigabit lan injectors.
