This was the episode that really has shown how deep Bakugo's character is. I gotta admit, as many people I didn't like him at first, but this ep helped me to fully understand his previous actions. It doesn't justify him being a bully, but at least we can see, why he acted like that. This fight is a huge milestone in his development and I can't wait to see you guys reacting to the next episodes! EDIT: some grammar
I personally love this episode because it definitely gives a lot more depth to Bakugo and Izuku's relationship. Izuku loved All Might because he saved people with a smile. Bakugo loved All Might because he never backed down, no matter who he fought. They both essentially arrive at the same conclusion. For Izuku, being able to save people with a smile means you're confident enough that they're not in danger, for Bakugo, being so overwhelmingly strong means you'll achieve victory without people getting hurt. But even though All Might was this amazing hero, Deku always saw Bakugo as his own personal hero. Because Bakugo never backed down from any battle. Bakugo was the one in his life. And now the symbol of victory Bakugo saw in All Might has been passed onto Deku. We see their relationship go from a toxic friendship to a toxic rivalry and now even begrudging respect(as seen at the end when Bakugo compliments Deku but also tells him to improve his technique. I also like how they both take after the other. When Izuku is excited or frustrated, he starts throwing out insults like Bakugo. And when Bakugo is put into a corner, he's able to calmly rationalize a situation like Deku. They may not fully admit it but they get their strength from each other.
This is a such a huge turning point for Bakugo. Todoroki and Bakugo have my favorite character development in the series. This will always be one of my favorite episodes.
i liked todoroki in season 2 like every one else but end of season 4 with endeavour he was the only one trying for number one even if it was that far and the all for one fight it hit endeavour the most because as much has he hates it all might is his ideal
In English after he puts Deku to the ground you can hear his voice crack again. Saying he's got All Might's power but he lost and then was like "Why did you lose?" Totally hurt that he won and Deku didn't.
When Bakugou was saying that Deku always acted like he was stronger than him even tho he was just a pebble, which you commented with I think "I don't think Deku's got an attitude" was actually a valid point from Bakugou's view (Deku obviously didn't mean it that way but they never cleared up this misunderstanding). Bakugou knew he was stronger than Deku, obviously and Deku knew that too but despite knowing that, Deku always offered Kacchan a helping hand. In Bakugou's mind that is something you only do when you are stronger. In a way that the strong save the weak, not the other way around. So, everytime Deku offered him his help meant in Bakugou's mind that Deku is implying that he's stronger than him. So, all his life he was pissed at Deku basically thinking "the *audacity* of this kid to act all strong when he doesn't even have a quirk" which honestly made sense because it kinda is all talk until you have the power to back that hero mindset. Because without the strength, it's merely a nice gesture. If someone who's as weak as me or weaker than me comes to my "rescue" then we just die together. Honestly, I can totally understand why Kacchan would take it the way he did.
Commented this before but in the English dub, when Deku says bakugou is closer to him than all might, he says “All Might was my hero, but you were actually in my life!” Felt that hits harder in the dub
yea Deku is only using 8%, but still for Bakugo he is just competing with someone using cheat codes, having to compete with a guy who has the strongest quirk to ever exist, getting the W there means a lot.
this episode solidified bakugou as one of my favorite characters. he and deku are my top 2 faves from mha and we got growth and insight into bakugou's character as well as both of their thoughts in relation to each other. there is still so much to go but this was a huge step forward. and this is still my fave ep of mha/one of the best fights in my opinion.
This is the episode where I started to soften up to Bakugo. I really hate bullies and he started off as a really big one. I was so certain he'd eventually be a villain because his motivation seem to stem purely from vanity in surpassing All Might as a hero and never about caring. This episode showed a bit of his humanity. He acknowledged his weakness and he showed that he cared for All Might enough that he felt sorry and guilty thinking he was the reason All Might's powers tapped out. But more than a show of humanity, I like that he hasn't been a bully for a while in that he no longer beats up weak people (like quirkless Midoriya) anymore. He's still crass and he still tries to attack but at least it's people who are more or less as strong.
It's so funny because seeing casual Eraserhead made me think of how All Might likened Deku's mom to his master. And casual Aizawa has the same hairstyle, so that's what he reminded me of.
Something important to know, after this episode a lot of people asked why Deku didnt just go a 100%, then he would have easily beaten Bakugo, so pretty much he was holding back and let him win, and that is not true. In S1 Deku declared that he was gonna beat Bakugo one day, with his own power. at this point in time Deku can only handle 5 to 8% which he has made his own, if he went above that, then he would be relying on All Might power levels to beat Bakugo, so Deku gave it his all only using what he can handle at this point in time
loved that this is there real start deku idolized all might and also bakugo because all might was the symbol of peace but his best friend showed him never lose even if your losing lol
but when bakugo blamed himself i didnt see it coming and cried like a baby lol and the respect for deku for punch or kick that they finally are better rivals
and if it wasnt for deku saying he had a borrow power would you think bakugo would pick up on the end of all might and would he blame him self more or less
One of the best moments in the series, that Bakugo changes from just another Vegeta, angry, rival character. To a character with an amazing amount of depth, very layered. A bravo to the author.
see like, i got to this episode on the third day of watching bc i watched a season a day LOL, but this is why i liked him so much earlier than most i talk to bc of how fast i saw his character develop lmaoo
I love this episode... this was the episode where my feelings for Bakugo changed completely. Love Deku and Bakugo. And I much prefer the English dub... except this episode. The Japanese voice actor for Bakugo did an AMAZING job. I can't wait to see your reaction to Mirio 😍
In 2020 there was made a charity performance of Might+U and You Say Run (ost from my hero academia). The TH-cam video featured special guests from all around the game and anime industry. As well as some youtubers. 80+ musicians in total. Including twentytwo voice actors from the english dub of my hero academia. And my favourite part. The composer of my hero academia’s music, Yuki Hayashi himself. Other notable people in the video would be Takahiro Obata (the composer of the promised neverland), And Patrick Bartley Jr. (Grammy-nominated saxophonist). As well as sooo many others. But that would take a lot of time to write. So..basicly… would you react to it? If not. Just watch it yourself beacuse it is so amazingly beautiful. And i wanna share the awsomeness of it.
Sometiems the animation is questionable in my hero but they absolutely killed it here you can feel the force behind deku and bakugo attacks Lmaoo the sub with bakugo crying too is so good
I really didn't like Bakugo that much, he was annoying and loud and mean, but after this episode he started to make more sense, I started to understand him better. He's a great character and I really enjoy his development through the series.
I love this episode, but I admit, I kinda hate seeing people watch it subbed. At least in this episode, the dialogue in the dub is far better to a native English speaker, and the voice acting is at least as good. It's just little things about how stuff gets phrased that makes a difference. Like, when it becomes clear that Bakugo blames himself for All Might's retirement, in the sub here, he says "Even if I try not to think about it, it just comes to mind unexpectedly. I don't know what to do!" but in the dub, it's something like "I can't get it out of my head, like It just keeps playing on loop. What am I supposed to do?!" The sub gets the point across, but the dub has a more visceral feel to it that really drives the point home harder.

Bakugo being so vulnerable kinda broke me a bit. The voice actor really deserves some credit here.
Is a shame he only does screaming angry characters mostly
The eng dub actor on this did an awesome job with showing Bakugo’s vulnerability as well
@@xXGabrielTrapXx Off the top of my head, in Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie he plays the chill best friend.
bakugou only ever being vulnerable around deku (even if against his will) always gets me, man

Bakugo: when you used it with your punch, it made me mad
Translation: that was pretty good, do more of that
“IS THAT ALL YOU’VE GOT?!?!” is legit one of my favorite Deku moments in this entire series
it's funny, deku always had these moments when he's cocky, it's no wonder he actually talks like that more now in manga.
Bakugo's confession puts a lump in my throat every single time I see it.
This is a such a huge turning point for Bakugo. Todoroki and Bakugo have my favorite character development in the series. This will always be one of my favorite episodes.

That was such a powerful moment. The English VA has done such a great job with his interpretation of Bakugo.
When Bakugou was saying that Deku always acted like he was stronger than him even tho he was just a pebble, which you commented with I think "I don't think Deku's got an attitude" was actually a valid point from Bakugou's view (Deku obviously didn't mean it that way but they never cleared up this misunderstanding). this episode made me like bakugo even more as a character
it was refreshing to see him being open and vulnerable

also, 100% would *kill* bakugou, definitely, which is the worse out come possible.
I’m late but I really appreciate how y’all try to understand what you are watching instead of just quietly watching 💯
I like the English dub's line for what Deku said to Bakugo:
"All Might was my hero, but you were the one actually in my life!"

The Dub for My Hero is infinitely better than sub, it’s not even close. Better delivery, better dialogue, oh and you know… it’s in English.
