Josh from Exotic Power & Performance visits the Howard and helps us finish our clutch replacement project on the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. Now that the clutch has been replaced, the computers need to be reprogrammed to make sure that the PIS is set correctly, along with the clutch degradation index and some other data points that are critical to ensure the clutch functions correctly on the E-Gear system.

Ive said it once I will say it again. There isnt another exotic car mechanic that I would trust more than Josh. The man is a Automotive savant.
Pretty much!
Josh serviced my Gallardo back when he was up here and owned ECS. What up Josh!!!!!
Nice!
Que Paso, muchacho!
I appreciate the set-up explanation for the Lambo's "computer clutch." What is fascinating is how similar it is to the hydraulic/analog Citroen "Citromatic" clutch. Adjust the hydraulic slave/bearing clearance, fine adjustment of the belt driven hydraulic centrifugal regulator for engagement quality, plus the hydraulic valve in the throttle position of the carburetor.
You could set it to grab or slip from a dead stop, creep up a slope in 1st gear AND floor the throttle in fourth gear and flick the selector to third during WOT and not over-rev the engine, it just matched the speed for the downshift.
All with no computers or sensors, simple mechanical/hydraulics.
That is kinda interesting
Citroen has long been the masters of innovating brilliant and amazingly complex tech!
@@normalguysupercar All the shift forks were moved with hydraulic slaves, the speed was dependent on throttle position and engine speed. When the brake system pressure was high, the clutch would be disengaged while sitting at a stop.
More times than not, the system was maladjusted and did not function as designed or wore the clutch disc prematurely, just like the Lambo.
Thanks for the great video Dan! I was wondering how you were doing to do a clutch adaptation "DIY" so thanks for the help. Ill think about this when doing this on my SL.
Yeah you'll need someone with the right computer hardware. I looked into it and it's very expensive for even the cheapest systems. Better to borrow it
@@normalguysupercar It looks to be about 5k. That sound about right to you?
@@TheBullRider Used, you can get one in the 3kish totally worth it imo
@@LynxStarAuto Haha I agree completly Gabriel, I might have to pick one up!
Josh is great! Tell it like it is no bullshit.
Yup
While the 5.0 does sound awesome (and yours sounds INCREDIBLE with the Kline) and has that unique F1 tone, don't sell the 5.2 short. It does sound REALLY good when you add a quality built aftermarket exhaust. The LP560 my wife owns sounded good stock but now that she added a full Armytrix titanium setup, it sounds truly epic! She brought it out to the local Cars & Coffee for the first time since the exhaust install (and having a near 60° day in mid February with no salt on the roads helped a ton), everyone couldn't believe how loud it is! Giggles & smiles from everyone around when she revved it! It's insane! 😁
I don't think anyone would say the 5.2 sounds bad, it's still fantastic sounding... But I also think most would agree the 5.0 sounds just slightly better.
@@normalguysupercar I agree with that and I'm glad you still say the 5.2 sounds really good. There are a lot of people who swear by the 5.0 and won't give the 5.2 the time of day. Can't wait to see you get into the Murciealgo.
WOOHOO !!! Sounds amazing !! Great execution guys !!! JOOOOSSHHH (WOOOOOO) so happy to see you, my good man !! great work making her sound purrr-fect !!! Congratulations everyone and cheers !!!!
Thank you as always
High quality workdone on the clutch and its computer setting by Josh....the exhaust sound incredible loud and plenty left to give...welldone Dan...Good job
Thank you
Great episode. Josh was great at explaining the PIS concepts, I learned a ton. It’s hard to find that information in a neat organized format that isn’t convoluted. I was expecting that exhaust to be F-U loud but I am pleasantly surprised at how refined/F1 sounding it is. Thought it was going to be ridiculously annoying like a capristo stage 3
Yeah, I'm very content with the sound. It's not stupid loud, but it's certainly not quiet. But the tone is spot on.
Thanks, I really try not to ramble like John Lennon in Revolution #9... I am a huge fan of Kline exhausts, properly done for sure.
@@normalguysupercar incredible info. just bought a twin turbo 800 hp BEAST. no more awd with that much power, so it is a beast. LOVE IT, but you damn well better respect the power beneath your right foot, or you'll be lookin the other direction before your brain catches up. I gotta ask ya tho, I'm trying to build a database on the Arancio Borealis SL's. There were 46 built for US. I've been able, so far, to locate 4. What is the 9th digit, and the last 5 of your vin? and where are u located? I wanna see how many are left, where they are now. Don't care who owns em, but the vin will allow us to keep track of their movements in the future. Mine is 06535, i'm in TX. Got one in Spokane, WA, 2 in FL, One yet unknown location but I have the vin.
So, anyone that can add info, it's much appreciated. I wanna find all 46 if i can. Someone else can do the same for other colors. Thx!!!
Congratulations. The powertrain didn't didn't fall onto the road and no fluids are leaking.
Impressive work indeed.
Haha my real fear was facing Josh's wrath if he had to walk back... That's a hell of a motivator.
Sometimes the simplest things can bring the greatest joy.
That sound is just awesome. Excellent choice on Kline exhaust.
Nice to see Josh in workshop again 👍
Heck yeah
Great job from all of you and brilliant professor Josh.
Thanks for the wonderful stuff.
You bet
That is a great job you’ve done! First time doing work on cars in my MO, so hats off to you on the exotic!!
Thank you
Congratulations! You got it done.
Exhaust sounds beautiful
Thanks
Such an underrated channel. 🙌🏼
I agree. Lol
Many thank yous this is going to come in handy when we DYI the clutch in my f430.
I had no idea calibration could be done remotely.
Good stuff man.
Yup! You're welcome
Love seeing how this all works. Great video. Matt.
Thanks
The exhaust sounds EPIC!
I agree.
Josh looks like proper Italian super-car guy in the Lambo. Looks very natural in that Lambo. Gallardo sounds spectacular on my laptop, I can only imagine what it's like in person. So, it's sold huh?
Yeah, it's sold.
Thanks! They do speak to my soul in a special way 🤠
Sound absolutely incredible
Oh man it really does
I DRIVE A TURBO BUICK REGAL!!!! IM RELEVANT TO THIS CHANNEL!
AWESOME VIDEO!
Lol yes!
Party on Wayne!
Great job with the video series Dan ,Josh always awesome to see you in the videos. I'll be picking your brain soon Josh and Dan stay tuned.
Enjoy the super bowl!! Love you guys!
Thank you!
Thanks!
More great info especially on clutch break in. Also, I'm really happy I am driving my Buick correctly!
Glad to help!
Great work fellas! Kline sounds great!
Much appreciated!
Dying laughing at the edits for Josh amazing explanations on breaking in the clutch procedure. 👏
LOL!

Ohhh thar exhaust sound.....wooooooooowww.
JOSHHHHHHH!!!! Wecome back mate, we missed you and your quacks!!! Ok i see you in Instagram but is not the same. Dan, convince Josh to start doing youtube videos. I bet he will be successful
Haha he's welcome on the channel anytime
Loving the videos!
Thanks
Great video thanks! Texa is probably a great more affordable option for us hobbyists! It would be great to see a more detailed walkthrough when installing a new clutch on a pre-LP Gallardo next time! Cheers! 😊
Thanks
Super video, Dan. Reminds me of the content that originally got me interested in your channel.
Thanks
Stay tuned, it IS sweet! Congratulations on a successful repair and upgrade.
Thank you!
Man, that sounds amazing! Almost picked me up an 08 SL right before Covid. Wished I pulled the plug.
Yeah they are pretty badass
Awesome video Dan really enjoying the channel's evolution, Lambo sounds fantastic now it's too bad you're not keeping it
Yeah it's a great car
One of you got me at 14:55. Lol
LOL!
Josh is f-ing awesome!!!
Quack
You guys make me want to move to Austin!!! Josh is so quaking funny.
LOL! thanks!
I have Kline inconel on my 718 Spyder and getting it on my 992 GT3 , it sounds amazing!!!
Hella yea dude! Kline Inconel FTW!
Kline Inconel is pretty much the best choice in all cars. LOL!
The godfather is in the building!!! - alfa 4c Mike in San Antonio TX@
Haha yes
Wooot woooooot, BIG MIKE
I'm just so happy I didn't have to walk back. Brilliant work boys.
Us too! I fear what you'd say if you had to walk back.
Fantastic job - and that Testarossa......want!
You and me both!
Dan, you'll have to find an old sound clip of the Lambo-powered F1 cars from the 1989 season. A lot of similarities. 😜
Oh hell yes
@@normalguysupercar Damn, I can't find one from practice. The cars were running so hot, that they took the rear body work completely off, which changed how loud they were. They were down on power to the Hondas, and Senna just ran away from Larini, once he got around him.
I love this car. I wish I wasn’t already at capacity for cars. One of these would look great in my garage.
Heck yeah
Oh Damn! That sounds amazing!!! Dare I say, a little LFA in that sound! lol WOW!
Yeah it's pretty damn good sounding
Cant wait to see the Murci job
Me either.
I kind of want Josh to see my self done LS swapped DeLorean just for the amount of quacks. Might even set a record for quacks per second.
OH man.
Extra quacks for liberal use of Stick Welding and Foil Tape 🤣
@@exoticpower8073 None of those, but plenty of slip fit exhaust pipes, and parts store crimp connectors!
The red Testarossa in the background is beautiful, shining like new
Oh yeah!
Nice!!!
Thanks
Super job, Dan! Great exhaust note. How does the software connect with the car without an actual wire connecting to the ecu? Is it wireless?
Yeah it's wireless. There's a little box you plug in to the obd port
Bluetooth
Normal Guy Supercar awesome I figured that’s what it was!
Great video - when is the next update on the 355 engine rebuild?
Soon
Great video, that engine and car are immaculate but I don’t think I’ll ever have it in me to own that 5L v10 and e gear system.
I'm a fan.
Once you un-do 15yrs of neglect, they're nice setups.
@@exoticpower8073 15 years of neglect on an exotic car is a write off haha
Awesome video and yet another reason not to try yourself. All that calibration. Lol Is the Howard going to be the showroom for your dealership? Beautiful place .
Yeah we want to stage cars there.
What exhaust is on this gallardo, it sounds amazing
Kline Inconel. We sell it
Cant say I liked this Josh guy !!
Haha yes
Wow that thing sounds fucking incredible 👌
Hell yes
Well done on your install ! At least a $3000 saving over the main dealer I’m guessing? 😀👍🏻
Oh at least!
Tell Josh his DMV buddies miss him.
Lol
🙏
15:45 That's what she said
Lol
What PIS value did you end up with?
I don't remember this was a long time ago
omg that sounds amazing....goddamn
Yeah, it's pretty darn impressive.
What kind of diagnostic/software tool did Josh use?
Texa Supercar
Yay!
I think I may have a man crush on Josh, he’s dreamy AF
Lol 😂
🤣
Josh!
Heck yeah
That thing fucking screams 😮
Hell yes
Nice, now you could fix the Murcielago!
Yeah, we will eventually.
With a large hammer...
Speaking of clutches, I see that you and Art have revised the Gated Six business model. It appears that you will no longer offer DIY kits, and also that you have signed a number of indy Ferrari shops across the U.S. to install the kits, with the participating shops to set their labor charges independently. Am I understanding correctly? Another question: What is the status of kits for the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti?
That was the plan but basically we aren't selling kits to other shops for the most part. No idea on the 612 timeframe yet.
@@normalguysupercar Are you still selling DIY kits to us Normal Guys?
@@billhenley6605 No
Josh is a fukn wizard... very knowledgeable. I’m wondering if he’s a certified wrench or an IT guy., or both?? He is one of my favorite characters on your show. He speaks my language with all the F bombs going off on all your videos he’s in. You fellas are Normal guys. 👍. Btw, your lambo screams speed....
He's got some certifications I believe...
Lambo and Lotus awarded me some certs. Everything else is a skill of survival
We need a Josh video on how to properly drive your single clutch robotic transmission. So we don’t drive like an “quacking” idiot.
LOL!
It's truly astonishing how brutal folks can be on clutches
That shop is really cool but it seems like it would be irritating to work in there because it's so dark
It's really not that dark in person, but yes it could use more light.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks
Like a fuckn Buick! Hahahaha
Lol
I would hire Josh to fix my car Dan but, he only do Italians.😎
No he does others, just complains more
@@normalguysupercar Nice to know, well I got his website, thanks Dan, I surely had a blast watching the Gallardo project.
Character and pocket depth are critical factors.
Please tell me that Adam was joking in the other video when he got out of the Lamborghini. If not he just dashed my dreams of getting one. 😥
Well... yes and no. It is a bitch to get out of the Murci.
@@normalguysupercar I will donate to Adam’s weight loss challenge fund on Thursday.
If you're going to be a dick, it's best to be a big one. Nice work dudes!
Ha! Thanks!
I never knew that there was so much involved with replacing a Lamborghini clutch???
Yup!
All of the Marelli Selespeed systems need these resets, Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, Aston Martin...can't speak much for the Alfa/Fiat systems, we didn't get them here.
A mere three blocks from my house and you didn’t stop by. 😢
Sorry.
Oh no apologies necessary. I’m just giving you a hard time. But I’d sure love to see that beast in person.
It's not my fault you didnt come running out, like its an ice cream truck, when you heard us driving 🤷♂️
You know I would have. 😈
