Thank you so much dude. I spent like an hour trying to trap the thing in a normal gate only trap, but it got out before I managed to close the door (every time) and then killed me. I got really frustrated and looked up your trap. Took me long enough to build it and tame a Pteranodon but damn, I trapped the Griffin first try. Worth it.

Hey Steve, I love your videos, I'm not sure if you have done it before, but I think something that might be helpful to new players would be a quick condensed guide on the progression path to take to complete the island for example. As in some kind of order of steps on what you need to do the caves and boss fights to move onto the next map.
You could also use the argy trap which is just 4 stone dino gateways with 2 reinforced dino gates on either side. The gates should be placed in a way that the gap is enough for you to go through. Its less expenisve and can be unlocked early.

Soooo I built the trap, tamed a pteranodon, and got a griffin to chase me. (Ragnarok map) Had the doors facing inward, but the trap still worked! Thank you for this!
I use 21 pillars, 7 in a U shape 3 high, 9 ceilings and dino gate which is roughly half the resources of this one, ptera flies straight through the pillars then just jump of and run round to close the gate, can use 8 ceilings for griffin and leave hole in the centre but I also use for argents and they can sometimes glitch out if there's a hole in the top, Captain Fatdog's is best for a temporary griffin trap though

I used the trap design on single player. Resources were not a problem. I added a pressure plate to close the doors. Worked perfectly. I was underwhelmed with the flying speed of griffins but love that you can shoot while flying.
its really good traps but its little bit expensive for the Early stage, but mid stage after geting that ball of rock (doedic) this traps works perfectly with pt
I think it’s just easier to use a argy trap 3 gate frames and 2 gates made out of stone and lead the griffin with your character and just leave a small gap big enough for your character but not big enough for the griffin ,the trap is smaller and you use less materials to make the trap , great vid tho keep them up

You could easily cut half this trap off and have the same basic function; you just need to do a little bit of extra kiting to line up your approach.

There was an update the griffin can pick-up medium creatures and humans i know this because when I was taming mine about 3 hours ago a player knocked me out and took my loot cus I suck at hand to hand combat and I was in my inventory but when my griffin tamed and I woke up I got on it and picked him up and killed him and got my stuff back, then (this was official) some kid on a transferred mana froze and killed me now im playing pve for a bit

I've always made a very similar trap only with pillars and one dino gate. I like this design much better and will be using it in the future.

Could I fit through the double door if I was using a snow owl instead of a pt?
You can just aim straight up with the bird and spyglass downwards to the back of it. That way the wing's not in the way.

The griffins are the fastest flyers in the game. You need to do the dive to get the speed boost though.
