Agreed, and it's also why 'HD remaster' mods that don't do anything but smooth out the edges and upscale the textures bug me so much. The artists obviously knew the hardware they were working with, and more often than not, the weird graphical problems are _intentional,_ you know?
@@CoralCopperHead Problem is, especially with the PS1 and SNES era games, part of the "hardware they were working with" were CRT monitors. Playing a PS1 game on a modern LCD TV does not look like it was intended even if you run the original disc on an original console with zero modifications. This was a great video, I'd love to see more from you. I see you did a short videoabout resident evil 1, I'd love to see you do a challenge playthrough (or normal playthrough) of that game as well
Great video, I haven't seen anyone look at FP stuff much besides speedrunners before now, and they definitely don't do the whole thing. I'm looking forward to more MGS challenge stuff. MGS2 on PC does have a way to do FP in the main game (via modding), I think it ends up being similar (easier for the most part), although like in Blast Furnace there's a couple of things that can't be done. Thought I'd explain what happened with the weird PAL Key cooling/not cooling thing (probably in a bit too much detail!)... The key has the 3 states normal/cold/hot, then there's a separate "heat" value between -15 minutes (cold) to 0 (normal) to +15 mins (hot). Usually, if a cold key goes over 0 (or a hot key goes under 0) it turns normal; a normal key turns cold once it hits -15m, and hot once it hits +15m. Then you have that same amount of time to get it to the Command Room. Also, a normal key will reset to 0 at the start of every area, so you have to do all the heating in one go. Most of the time, the Blast Furnace and Warehouse heat/cool the key at a 3x rate, so it would've taken 5 mins to go hot the first time you tried it. But, when you're at the appropriate point in the story (i.e. Warehouse after normal key entry, and Blast Furnace after cold key entry), as soon as you enter one of those areas, you get swapped to a normal card and put at 12 mins for free. So it should only take 1 min to change in those cases. The weird thing happens when you enter a "12-mins-free" Warehouse with a hot key. The two values (key state, and heat) only actually change once per second (technically, it's every 30 rendered frames since the game was launched). So when you entered Warehouse and checked the key immediately, it hadn't had a chance to change yet and you saw a hot key. But about a second after that, it would've changed back to normal. That's why it mysteriously went from hot to normal by the time you reached the end of Warehouse that one time, while it was perfectly fine later in the game.
Great play man! Ive completed in 1st person too, and had a hard time during the Rex fight. I used a more complicated strategy. Really appreciate yours!
Reminds me how impressive the game back in 98 was. The graphic and mechanic were awesome for the PS1. FPV feels like it is natural intended for the game.
Like many, I had no idea you could lock into first person like this in the GOG version. Since you brought this to the attention of so many fans, I'll bring up that you should be able to destroy the gas masks on the Mantis busts to do the same effect as the player 2 trick. I assume that's still in the GOG version and would be a lot better than having to go from controller to keyboard for shooting.
MGS PC First person would be nasty if Konami decided to do this with lightgun options. Think PS1 Project Horned Owl (if anyone remembers) or TimeCrisis. BUT instead its Metal Gear. I get its not a shoot em up game but ths changed my perspective quickly.
1st person mode challenge is interesting, on Ps1 JPN Integral you have to complete the game 1st before you can do that challenge, on PC outside the ending related items/costumes can do the challenge from the get-go (however it baffles me that the Duel song is not in the PC version for some stupid reason). Edit: Yeah... in PC version the "controller port 2" is the keyboard, but just like the original PS1 and Twin Snakes, you have 3 paths to defeat him, dying a couple of times and destroy the statues, the port intended way or whiff 7 hits and the 8th connects and repeat the process over and over until you win (this last way is a literal glacial slug... but funny enough, it works).
classics wise, I’d love to see you do something with the original Syphon Filter. Also with Tenchu Stealth Assassins on PS1, both amazing games from that era. No idea what the challenge could be though.
This gives a different perspective of stealth and well if you haven't played the game, then your going to find it challenging. But as many have. It would be different of course, would give a totally different expiernce.

Great play man! Ive completed in 1st person too, and had a hard time during the Rex fight. I used a more complicated strategy. Really appreciate yours!
22:51 Hilarious! Got me right in my sides!
Awesome content my dude, you earned this sub!
There is an alternate way to beat psycho mantis by shooting his statues
Reminds me how impressive the game back in 98 was. The graphic and mechanic were awesome for the PS1. FPV feels like it is natural intended for the game.
Like many, I had no idea you could lock into first person like this in the GOG version. Since you brought this to the attention of so many fans, I'll bring up that you should be able to destroy the gas masks on the Mantis busts to do the same effect as the player 2 trick. I assume that's still in the GOG version and would be a lot better than having to go from controller to keyboard for shooting.
Awesome video man! Keep up the hard work! Love this definitely subbing can't wait for the next one!
You need way more subs and views, this is seriously impressive!
Thank you so much!
MGS PC First person would be nasty if Konami decided to do this with lightgun options. Think PS1 Project Horned Owl (if anyone remembers) or TimeCrisis. BUT instead its Metal Gear. I get its not a shoot em up game but ths changed my perspective quickly.
+1 Sub,I love these stealth based game like mgs,Growing up playing mgs 3 is the reason why.Keep it up
This game even almost 30 years later still looks stunning !
Cool run thx for sharing. My favorite mgs games are
1.mgs psone
2. mgs 4
3. Mgs 2
4. Mgs 3
5. Mgs pw
6. Mgs 5 gz
7. Mgs 5 tpp
Underrated channel! You’ll blow up soon!
What a chad omg wp man very nice video subbed and liked much love !
I didn’t know the PAL key actually lost temperature, amazing.
You're truly the Ronnie Pickering of MGS
Wait. I don’t think you can even move in first person view.
I think it is exclusive to the PC version and the Japanese 3disk Integral version !
Such a novel idea for a playthrough! Subbed!
6:05 I actually like that you can shoot from a first person perspective in this game.
classics wise, I’d love to see you do something with the original Syphon Filter. Also with Tenchu Stealth Assassins on PS1, both amazing games from that era. No idea what the challenge could be though.
I slept on Syphon Filter, I'll definitely play it soon. I love Tenchu! I'll have to think of some ideas for challenge runs there.
The filthy frank cameo😂😂
Pretty entertaining run. subbed
This could be great for replaying MGS1 with a good VR headset.
Came for the metal gear solid video, subbed for the "wing it" joke after beating raven
People with St. Jiub as their PFPs are absolutely welcomed here. Wealth beyond measure, outlander.
@@nullnova Under sun and sky outlander! Morrowind is my favorite game by far!
New sub because this is what I was looking for and TH-cam said this was the best.
Great job fren looking forward to more vidya from you.
24:25 Comedy gold moment, if that was unscripted then you’ve just gotten super lucky
Nicely done! Subbed
Holy shit this mic, it sounds like he's reporting from a wiimote, that's amazing
This gives a different perspective of stealth and well if you haven't played the game, then your going to find it challenging. But as many have. It would be different of course, would give a totally different expiernce.
Great job, subbed. love this kind of challenge vid :)
the whole way through this i was humming the music to this game. what a awesome sound track this game has. to this day i cant sneak without humming this games theme music
Fitting that the bit you had the hardest time with was the part (Liquid hand to hand fight) you couldn't be in first-person :P
Really enjoyed this. 👍
"nothing personnel, kid" +1sub
I didn't know you could throw a grenade at the ninja when he's spazing out at the end of the fight. I just avoided him and he just stops after a few teleports. This game amazes me to this day.
...you can also use the Famas or the Socom at this point to shoot him !
