You’re my favorite waterfowl hunter on TH-cam for sure. I live in NC if you ever come hunt nc again and don’t know where to go I can show you couple of my holes.
Watched you for years. Awesome to see you become a really great ethical hunter. Full opener is the 28 up here in Ontario Canada, can’t wait and this is my 33rd opener! Never gets old! 🇨🇦
Hahaha thanks buddy! Just a few more weeks till you'll be banging on them too! I don't have a code for OnX just yet but I think I should have one in a couple weeks
Thanks brother! If they have a good bit of fat then I'll pluck the birds but most the ducks don't have much fat this time of year so I just cut the breast meat out. I'll typically cook them on a cast iron pan and then incorporate them into things like stir fry
I got my lab Leroy a couple years ago! Rue is actually his mom and belongs to Cory Loeffler who I work for. I'm lucky enough to be able to hunt with both of them as well as his other female lab Bonnie
I don't have a dog stand up here in AK so I just had her sit on the decoy bag that I carried in. Back in Minnesota though I'm using a Momarsh dog stand
Most of the rivers have marshes like this close to where they dump into the ocean/bay! Unfortunately there's too much internet scouting that goes on these days so I can't say exactly where this spot is.
When are you headed up here?? It's partially true about the mallards. All the ducks you shoot in these tidal marshes have a slight taste of salt but it can be more noticeable in the mallards. They say the late season mallards on the rivers are particularly bad because their diet is almost 100% salmon eggs. I haven't shot any on the rivers though so I can't say whether I've found that to be true or not
I think the biggest key for getting permission is to get to know the landowner on a personal level. Talk with them for a bit and get to know them before you ask to hunt on their property!
nice hunting in a beautiful place. love and respect from peshawer pakistan.
Much appreciated!

I live in NC, trying to show me too? 🤣
Thomas may spend most of his time in the central and pacific flyways, but he will never forget the allure of a brutal east coast hunt
@@nolanminor6761they’re either the best or the worst experience ever. No middle ground

Thanks Dave, I really appreciate that! Best of luck up there next weekend! You seeing many birds around yet??
Love watching Rue work! Beauty!!
You and me both! She's an absolute blast to spend time in the marsh with!
(Sits at desk crying that the "other Thomas" gets to have all the fun) Another great hunt! FYI I am going to be using your OnX code here soon
Hahaha thanks buddy! Just a few more weeks till you'll be banging on them too! I don't have a code for OnX just yet but I think I should have one in a couple weeks
Smorgasbord of duck ponds and plenty of ducks. Awesome.
Thanks Cooper! Lots of ducks around up here this year!
Great hunt! Really admire the way you responsibly handle your dog… too many times I see people just having their dogs run around aimlessly.
Much appreciated! Rue makes the handling easy, she's extremely calm and well mannered in the blind!
WOW! Great video! Rue did awesome!
Nice job Brother! Well done again!
Much appreciated! Rue was definitely the star of the show!
Can’t wait for opener i got 2 days i love watching your videos while i wait
Thanks brother, best of luck to you on the opener!
Looks like eel grass duck love it dog doing great
I thought it looked like that too but I was under the impression that eel grass only grows in tidal waters
Love this man hope to see some North Carolina content this year keep up the great work
Thanks brother! Hoping I can make it down there this season for at least a couple hunts!
Another amazing video. Going duck hunting this Saturday up in Canada. You got me all pumped. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks Maurice, best of luck on Saturday! Let me know how it goes up there!
Awsome hunt man cant wait till the season starts back up
Thanks brother! Y'all been getting after some teal down there yet?
@HokeOutdoors o yeah just in certain areas tho kinda strange
I told you the idea for the top cover umbrella. This was a good place to test it.
Yeah definitely my favorite waterfowl hunter. I’m in south Louisiana if you ever wanna go
Thanks brother, really appreciate it! I'm hoping I can make it down there at some point soon. If I'm able to I'll let you know!
Wow. You be killing it up there ! Nice.
Good hunt, buddy!

Wow you came to Alaska agian
I hope I can visit every year, it's an amazing place!
Another great hunt out there question what do you usually do with ur birds when your done hunting?
Thanks brother! If they have a good bit of fat then I'll pluck the birds but most the ducks don't have much fat this time of year so I just cut the breast meat out. I'll typically cook them on a cast iron pan and then incorporate them into things like stir fry
Very niced video.
Thanks Nasser! Appreciate you watching!
Hello from Greece my friend
When did you get a Lab? Your life is complete now, congratulations.😊
I got my lab Leroy a couple years ago! Rue is actually his mom and belongs to Cory Loeffler who I work for. I'm lucky enough to be able to hunt with both of them as well as his other female lab Bonnie
Hey, I've been loving your vids man I'm from Alaska and I'm wanting to get into duck hunting. Around where was this filmed?
Thanks brother! This wasn't too far from Anchorage, what part of the state are you located in?
@@HokeOutdoors I'm from wasilla definitely great to see a good amount of ducks around there
I love to duck hunt up there one day!
I'd highly recommend it! You won't see the giant flocks like they get in Canada but there's still plenty of ducks and the scenery is unbeatable!
@@HokeOutdoors I hope I can one day!
Let’s go!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@HokeOutdoors always man, I learn a lot from your videos
Hey Thomas, Love your videos. Do you wear hearing protection while hunting? If so, what kind? Thanks!
I appreciate you watching them! I'm using Alclair EXP Pros this season. Used their custom molded ear plugs for the last couple of years
What dog stand do you use for Rue? Great video and love watching the dog work
I don't have a dog stand up here in AK so I just had her sit on the decoy bag that I carried in. Back in Minnesota though I'm using a Momarsh dog stand
Where are the holes like this. We were in a little spot in Butte. Also hit a spot knik river trail.
Most of the rivers have marshes like this close to where they dump into the ocean/bay! Unfortunately there's too much internet scouting that goes on these days so I can't say exactly where this spot is.
I can’t wait to get up to Alaska. Is it true the mallards taste bad out there though?

What camera are you using to fold your hunts. It’s a ShotKam on the gun but I like the clarity on the head camera
I'm using a GoPro Hero 10 as my headcam
@@HokeOutdoors thank you sir
Just another day right.😂
Every day in the marsh is a blessing!
What do you think sets you apart from others asking permission? How do you go about it?
I think the biggest key for getting permission is to get to know the landowner on a personal level. Talk with them for a bit and get to know them before you ask to hunt on their property!
man want to try waterfowl just bought my first hunting shotgun
It’s a blast! Just be careful cause it can also be very addicting 🤣
@@HokeOutdoors 😆
Hey man I live in eagle river if you ever need someone to tag along with ya in Alaska let me know
Thanks brother, will do! How's your season been up there so far?
Is there a day you don’t limit man 😂
I actually came up a couple birds short yesterday! I've been extremely blessed with some great hunting this year though!
@@HokeOutdoors well I’m glad you do man cause I enjoy the videos!
What gun camera does he use?
Shotkam Gen 4
What is that ufo above Ru’s head at 11.11?
Just one of those balls that hands from power lines! You will see some wild stuff in the skies up here though!
@@HokeOutdoors understood. We have them here in the UK to stop Mute Swans flying into the power lines. Keep up the cracking videos.
Tight and Right! Nice hunt.
Did you say rushes or rough edges? Haha
Haha rushes, I believe the ones I was hiding in were bull rushes
Had to shoot that 2nd teal in self defense.
Hahaha for real! That one was the definition of "too close"
