This video is amazing! I really love how you share every moment of your waterfowl hunting trip. The visuals and sounds are so vivid, making it feel like I was right there with you. The tips on how to locate ducks and prepare gear are very helpful. I hope to see more videos like this! Thank you for sharing this experience!
I really appreciate how hard you hunt. That was difficult getting all of your equipment through the corn to this spot I used to hunt hard like that when I was a young man like you. I never thought the day would come when I couldn't do it. But at 65 years old, that day has come. So I enjoy hunting vicariously through your videos. Love that you use the 28 gauge. The word on the skeet field is that the 28 is the most ballistically efficient gauge of them all, meaning it delivers the highest percentage of the shot available on target. I shot some teal with mine and still use it on doves. I never understood why the .410 became the "Kid Gun" when the 28 is so much better with no appreciable increase in recoil. My father got a Harrington and Richardson 28 gauge when he was 12 in 1921. He passed it on to me and I shot my first dove with it. When the time came I bought my kid a 28 and now it belongs to my grandson.

Such a cool spot Matt, looked like a fun little morning in the flooded kern! Great shooting and decoying action as usual, that last bank that big flock made had to be incredible to witness in person
Awesome hunt Matt! You have your own private hunt club there with that flooded corn spot! Watch out when the big ducks find the flooded corn, your hunts will be on fire, Barry
Been in the eighties here in Maryland,Nice that Your area cools down in September ,Here with the hurricanes in Florida pushes a lot of hot weather until the end of September…
Thanks Bryan! Been hunting a bunch of new places this season. It'll be cooler in the mornings and then warm right back up into the 90s the same day this time of year.
Location, location, premium location! Coup double (your scotch double but in French!) what a perfect combination of IC choke, #9TSS18 (Salt Creek Ammo doesn't advertise any 28 ga anymore on their website, you took it all?!?!?!) and some audacity to tempt the odds on the good graces of Saint Hubert, bravo! Qui ne tente rien, n'a rien! You have to dare if you want a result! What I like about your solo hunts is that you have to make the conversation with US, we are right there with you. They flood voluntarily, they call them impoundments, many standing (low cultivars so the geese and ducks can reach the grains easerly) corn fields but yours seems more like the overflow of a natural wetland hard to reach, congratulations for all your efforts, you deserve this success and thanks again for sharing with us. God bless you and continue to provide you with all good opportunities all seasons long 😊
Great hunt bud. I’m shooting the beretta a400 28ga. I went with a compNchoke skeet choke because the tss is shot tight. I reload all my own. I’m shooting 1oz of #8’s and it crushes everything from teal to geese. Reloading brings the cost down for sure. You are the reason 3 of us started looking at the 28ga. Great video as usual.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen love it. We went and held both. The sbe3 and a400. Couldn’t stand the rib on the sbe3 and saw your video as well. Dad and I actually bought one each. Awesome gun so far.

Matt, do you the 9 shot because of the teal being a small duck? I think its great you're posting the gun gauge, choke , and shot at the beginning. Can't wait to see some BIG duck hunting!!
Yes but it would work on decoying ducks of any size. It throws a great pattern. TSS is denser than steel, bismuth, and lead so you can get by with smaller shot sizes that carry similar to better knockdown power as the aforementioned counterparts.
Hey Matt, I’m interested in the shells you were using. I looked up salt creek 9s but all I found were turkey loads. I assume you weren’t using turkey loads in the ducks though. What weight and velocity were they? I always love to know what ammo fellow hunters are using. Thanks!
That scotch double shot in multiple angles is unbelievable!!
Thanks!
I'll drink to that!
I really appreciate your putting the details of your hunt equipment, gun/shells etc, and the weather conditions. Great job and hunt.
Thanks!
Can't wait for more videos!

Don’t you love the anticipation, Matt? Duck hunters have to be the most optimistic people on the earth. Great hunt.

Amazing! What Choke size and Shot size did you use when you double scored in a single shot?
Thanks! It's all listed at the start of the video
Ah. So it is no.9 shot with Improved Cyclinder(4 cuts) choke if i’m right.
Thought you were gonna be shooting like old H2ODAD with that scotch double. You coming down to Florida this January to shoot them in their prime?
Haha might not make it this year but I do want to get down there soon.
Get some Duck creek Flashback decoys , that slack water is no good.
👍🏻
Nice set up, nice Hunt. Do you still hunt mostly public land?
Thanks! I hunt a good amount of private and public each year. Really depends on weather and where the birds are.

As flooded zone depletes in depth, resulting in an interspersion of mudflats and water ~6 inches, the BWTE should abound. Rick

No, they were custom loads. They're 3/4oz and 1500 fps

Was this before or after the 7th of September?
On the 7th
We all know the last thing these teal think is "oh shit, this is HPS' decoys"
😂😂
Hi Matt
Where did you find a flooded corn field? Is it impounded and pumped? Rick
It's a natural low area that caught some heavy rain earlier in the year.
When does your regular duck season start?
Couple weeks yet

Question are hunting in Canada or the US?
@@josephbrown3807 US
Hmmm, I looked at those Salt Creek shells. They seem great, but I imagine they sponsor you? Seem cost prohibitive for most at $10/shell.
They sent me some to try out. I'm very impressed with their performance but they are pricey.
Actually about 5$ a squeeze. I’m gonna get some to try
@@jjmalvitz3460 I guess I thought it was 5 shells per box but maybe i read it wrong.
But he only shoots 6 or 7 times for a limit
