    i really want to say thank you for posting these videos. I had an okay grasp of the NEC but you have made the a world of difference in my comprehension. I am taking my ICC E2 at the beginning of MAY and thanks to your videos I have a greater degree of understanding of the information. I will be signing up for your 1 month testing course to supplement my weak areas. Thank you again, you truly are helping to change people's lives.

    On this week 4 during the calculations,, we were working on a whole house calculation,, but didn’t we forget to get into the a/c’s ?
    We were at 6000 for lighting
    4500 for kitchen / laundry
    5200 for dryer
    8000 for range ..
    We needed to plug in the va’s for the ac to get our total ..
    and then use it to pick our service ..
    I’m loving this website , and I am so grateful to be brushing up ..
    I’m taking my general electrician exam in California on Monday ..
    I don’t feel ready ,,
    Lol
    I’ve only been an electrician for 6 years

      Great question! Likely we were adding one piece at a time and had not got to the AC yet, anytime you're doing a calculation only calculate what they give you and do not make any assumptions. Other than the 4,500 for the small appliance and laundry circuits!

    I found 2 errors in this video, is about the last example is the result (option a did not appear in A ( 4.8kva), and the other is before last don't change the result, but was the example was 11kva, 13kva, and 14kva (you put 12,13,14). The video is excellent for teaching.

    Please revise the last question to this video where the multiple choice A was 3.4 but the actual answer came out to 4.8kVA. Just FYI to erase any confusion or concerns. Other than that you are awsome my friend and your materials have given me the structure i needed to get back in studying! Thanks

      Great catch, I will note in the description below that on the first slide of that question answer A is a typo but in the final slide it is correct.
      Great eye!!

    By far the best walkthrough of how to use the NEC I have found!
    currently I'm a little lost about when you need to calculate the demand factor. I keep adding it when it's not needed or ignoring it when it's required.

    • @ElectricalCodeCoach

      I appreciate that bro! And yeah man it's something we all struggle with, there are just so many rules and so many different applications!!

    Hey Coach, when sizing your whole load calculation in 2020 code going forward. Do you have to add the two new required circuits (bathroom & the garage) at 1500 watts apiece to the total va's total. Instead of 4500watts but 7500 watts plus square foot 0f the house 1st. then the demand factor. Thanks just wondering have 2017 code book only.

    Love your videos...just wanted to say the suggested answer at 29:20 for A at first shows 3.4 which is wrong. You do provide the correct answer for A afterwards which is 4.8. Just wanted to let you know in case you didn't.

      @@ElectricalCodeCoach I will for sure! Unfortunately for me my california state cert expired so i have to retake the test all over again so Ive been watching your videos to help me refresh. Really appreciate them all. I heard the test is a lot harder now so its going to take me a minute to get confident again with the code book. Thanks again!

    So at 9:00 when you chose 6000 VAs, I noticed you didn’t look for demand factors, when in table 220.42 it does say over 3000 VAs use a 35% demand factor

    • @ElectricalCodeCoach
      @ElectricalCodeCoach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! Table 220.42 only applies to sq ft va's and the small appliance and laundry service

    • @mintysurfer14
      @mintysurfer14 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ElectricalCodeCoach the 6000 VAs were sq ft VAs, were they not? Did you make a mistake by not using table 220.42? Or do you not use 220.42 unless you add the 4,500 VAs for the appliance and laundry first?
