In this video, I will show you how I make my crumb quilt step by step. I will also give you some tips and tricks on how to make the process easier and faster. You will see how I sort my scraps by size and color, how I sew them together, how I press and trim them, and how I arrange them into a pleasing layout.

This is exactly how I quilt except I go ahead and cut my batting to the size I want my blocks to be and and as I stitch my bits together I'm stitching right onto the batting so it's a blend of crumb and fun and done.

@@mamamode1312 Good idea! How do you then connect your squares? Do you just sew them together, or do you use a sashing?

    • @FaodailCreation
      @FaodailCreation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You could do both. Putting sashing inbetween makes it look more modern I think. Keep it plain and a contrasting colour from the crumb quilt block. Thank you for your comment.

You make it seem so easy and approachable! I’m going to try it. I feel like this is good for when you want to stitch something but you don’t have a lot of time. You can just piece things and then cut them into blocks!? 🤯 Mind blown.

I like your colored bins for easy scrap storage. Wish I had the space for so many scrap bins. Your blocks are nice! Meanwhile, unlike you, I prefer my crumb blocks to be completely scrappy. So I randomly mix all the colors. My 'rules' are: 1) sort my scraps by length and width. 2) sew contrasting or triadic color families together, 3) selecting contrasting values. I love the truly scrappy, crazy, random look.

I still like to have that element of control over everything even a scrappy quilt lol. I seem to have issues with too many colours. I have the same probelm in my garden, just the one colour of petunias lol. Thank you so much for your valued comment, nuvoclassic

I just found your chanel! So you have a new subscriber! I like how you square up your blocks! I love all ur little bins but I live in an apartment so I can't put shelves up. Instead I use gallon size ziplock bags. I can see inside to see what color they are. Just push the air out as you close the bag and they store so easy then! Looking forward to watching more of ur videos ☺️

    Seem pressing
    Quilting to the dark side
Clothing pinking sheared, pressed open then felled.
    Or
    Clothing cut pieces, surge pieces
Then sew together press maybe maybe not open decide in the moment.

@@FaodailCreation awe, if you can sew 1/4" seem, you can sew a 5/8" that's really about the difference.
Go simple and uncomplicated to start then move from there when you're comfortable with that.
Make something out of a soft linen or flannel that you'll be happy to lounge in the house or sleep in if it doesn't work well enough for your standard and keep practicing at it. "Practice makes better!" You may surprise yourself and be happy straight off to wear in public.
Look for videos on making a kirttle and how to sew a gore.
Coming from sewing quilts this should be less complicated.
This is where I am. The sleeves are where I ran out of confidence. But we'll see.
