    This shows the collet removed...but on my Bondtech Creality DDS kits, they are installed with the clamp installed. ?

    How tall is that combined setup overall?

    As far as how tight to tighten the thumb-screw, from what I have read after doing some research, you tighten the screw all the way (but only finger tight - do not force it) then for hard filaments like PLA, PETG and ABS, reverse the screw 1.5 to 2 full turns, for softer flexible filaments, you reverse the screw 3-4 full turns. Now print any test cube and if there is any under-extrusion, tighten it by a quarter turn and retest, until it's perfect.

      Hi James, we have a video on how to install the thumbscrew on the DDX here: th-cam.com/video/TH7ocsi1aq8/w-d-xo.html
      It applies to most of the Bondtech extruders as well.

    Is there a mount for the Ender 3 (preferably printable) with this set up?

    Do you have to use the PTFE tube with the E3D V6 hotend? I thought it was "all metal" by having no PTFE tube. I don't want to clog up my gold edition hot end. But I need all metal for printing peek.

      @certified-forklifter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the ptfe doesn't go down to the hotzone. thats the big difference. and i think you need a different temperature sensor for peek, right?

    How much tension (ie: turning the screw) is the proper amount?

    The most important thing is not shown. How to align the drive gear on stepper motor shaft?

    • @bernardtarver
      @bernardtarver 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The included motor gear (technically a pinon), not the drive gear, goes on the motor shaft.

      @@bernardtarver yeah, no kidding, but where on that very long shaft

    • @bernardtarver
      @bernardtarver 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karlschuneman7960 I mount my BMG to a 2.3 mm ALU bracket. As a result, I use a 16 pt business card (~ .4 mm) to align the pinon along the motor shaft. I also do this with E3D Titan extruders.

      Using a customized base that was essentially the included base with a v-slot mount on one side I mounted my pinion upside down (with the grub screw at the top) 3mm above the stepper. This was easy to measure by sitting one of the included M3 stepper screws across the top of the stepper with the pinion resting on top of that. If you have a thicker base, or a mounting plate between the base and the stepper, you'd have to adjust accordingly by adding the extra thickness.

    Which is the right motor for this extruder? 0.9 or 1.8 degrees of resolution?

    • @MartinBondeus-Bondtech
      @MartinBondeus-Bondtech 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Both 1.8 and 0.9 degree motors work fine, you have to adjust the estep value accordingly, 415 for 1.8 degree motor, 830 for 0.9 motor if 16 bit microstepping is used.

    • @infamousdtownm9385
      @infamousdtownm9385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      5mm didn't work for me. Maybe because I have a clone BMG. Anyone get an answer yet?
      I noticed that a 2mm IDx 3mm OD PTFE tube is what actually fits, have to measure the length but afraid to pullit all apart again. I've ruined so much cap tube it's ridiculous. I only found a helpful video on a Prusa forum! Very frustrating 😕

    what's the length of the ptfe tube?

    • @AustinMichael
      @AustinMichael 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mine was 37mm and it was about 4.6mm extending using calipers. That was close enough and I wasn't going to waste capicorn tubing for such a small difference.
