How do you go about researching them? Many items predate the Internet by a long way, and when items fall out of popularity, they get put in drawers and not talked about any more. Until I retired in 2011, I used a plumb bob all the time as it was more accurate than some spirit levels, especially on posts where we needed both ways to be plumb. We made a metal right angle with two holes for the plumb bobs, then we would place it against the post and level it in both directions. There are post levels available now, but we had to be accurate and found the plumb bob to be better at gauging plumb. The posts were the mounts for a £250K 3ph power distribution switch made by S&C, Chicago, and getting the mounts accurately set made setting the switch synchronicity easier. The last object is a hand washer, like soap, I had one but never really found the point of it, but I believe it was more to get rid of smells on the hands.

The same effect can be had using soap and rubbing hands on a stainless steel sink, or any SS. I wonder if it would work for skunk?

It says you take out the block from the inside and heat it up separately over a fire or stove for “20 min” and then the block would radiate heat “for hours.” It sounds exactly like one of those hand warmers except bigger. A block of radium wouldn’t have been sold for $1.50 even back then. They probably used the brand name “x-radium” to make the product seem new fangled and scientific.
Just by way of general explanation, since I'm an edged weapon/tool collector, a small sword is the name of a type of sword, like a katana or a cavalry saber, not "a sword which is small". Just fyi.

The ad claims it would then “radiate” the heat for “hours” without needing to have any actual combustion going on. I think it was probably some kind of ceramic? Or carbon blocks? Just a guess. Back in the day, Radium was the new high tech discovery that people were crazy for, before all its dangers came to light. I suspect they called the product “x-radium” to make it sound new-fangled and scientific.
The item following the copper balls appears to be a button hook for lady’s shoes, when I was much younger my grandmother used one, could also be used for buttons on the back of a dress.

The plumb line (a string with a bob) is NOT an ancestor to the level. It fulfills a completely different function. Just as the level gives you horizontal lines, the plumb gives you a vertical line.

I got the foot warmer and the Chalk Line. The last item is a stainless steel soap bar. It eliminates the smell of onions etc from your hands.
The oval piece of metal is a stailess steel soap bar, it is used to wash the hands when handleling food such as oinons garlic etc.
I thought it was a silver soap bar.
