Hello everyone! I know many of you aren’t fond of the background music I’ve been using. I’m working hard to find a replacement, but it’s proven to be quite challenging. I’ve listened to a lot of tracks on Epidemic Sound, but unfortunately, I haven’t found anything that fits so far. I’ll do my best, and hopefully, the next video will have different music. I also want to mention that, unfortunately, I don’t currently have the budget to hire a voice actor, so I’m using an AI-generated (text-to-speech) voice. I realize it has issues and audio artifacts, and although I tried a different AI voice, many people didn’t like that one either. I’m still working on solving this problem, and I believe that in the near future, I’ll be able to find a voice actor for the channel. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this video. Thank you so much for your support!😉
TBH, I never noticed the background music, as long as it doesn't detract from your description, I'm not bothered. You have a great speaking voice anyway. Merry Christmas to you and all fellow subscribers.
After reading your post about voice and such I retract me helpful criticisms, if you are using AI for the voice, than it runs really well lol. I'm doing stuff now in text to audio/pics/video and it can be very challenging to get to the AI to do what you are asking. Keep up the good work and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep making the videos, I love em.
Telephone dialer. This one appears to be an advertising giveaway from Borden's as it has the image of Elsie the Cow, Framed inside a daisy. Elsie was a Borden's Dairy trademark. Most people do not know this, but Elsie was (is?) the partner to Elmer the Bull. Who is Elmer? I hear you cry... Elmer was designed to be Elsie's cartoon husband and was often depicted fixing things for her in advertising campaigns. Elmer was the spokesbovine for Elmer's Glue! Yes, Elsie and Elmer were trademarks back in the early 20th century, Today nobody remembers Elmer the Bull but everybody knows Elmer's Glue. Elsie is, alas, also sinking into obscurity.
In the cap bomb, the plunger was not 'propelled' by a spring, but was held against the anvil by a spring, with enough pressure to keep a paper cap in place between the anvil and the end of the plunger. Momentum -- and the sudden stop -- compressed the loaded cap between the plunger and anvil, setting it off.
...and there was no thrill about the sound of an explosion. It was barely louder than dropping it without the cap. Unless, of course, you were some richie rich and had the plastic caps for the end.. 😂
I feel old. Last object i'm thinking "Nan had one of those by her phone". She used it to dial, but i used a pencil that was allways by the phone and this item as an early fidget spinner.
If you're right, they used to give out small plastic ones with advertising on them like pens and cheap letter openers. Especially useful for women with long fingernails when dialing.
I really like your videos and that you tell more of a story behind things than others. Food for thought on the audio, try a wind screen in front of the mic to give you a bit of distance or if you have control reduce input gain a bit then boost output volume to level, your Ps and Bs can sound over modulated, seems same in most vids. Might be my devices but have run audio for a lot of local musicians and its just what I hear, my 2¢ for the day and keep makin the vids
I remember simpler cap bombs from the sixties. They were made of plastic with a steel pin in front. You placed a plastic cup cap on the pin, and it ignited on impact with the ground. I also remember manufacturing louder (and more dangerous) versions by trapping shavings of universal match heads in a nut between two bolts. Throwing that to the ground produced a satisfyingly loud bang, and in some cases blew one of the bolts out of the contraption.
I didn't know we were supposed to guess common household items... The last item is a Borden's promotional phone dialer for women who had to grow insanely long fingernails, for 'fashion'...
2:30 Had these cap bombs when I was a kid. My sister actually found some new ones at some old store a few years ago, so I have a shiny example sitting on my bookshelf today. As for safety....well, at least they aren't yard darts. (Yeah, used to have some of those, too.)
Your magneto was also.used to bring worms up out of the ground between two metallic stakes.in the ground. They sold them for that when I was a kid. Similar military radio.generstors or old phone generators could also be used for extracting information. Your description about the hammer is quite right. But it could also be used to.set small rivets. I have one.
"Joey! I found this cap bomb under your bed. I told you it was dangerous and to throw it away! And btw, are you chewing on whipped cream without a mouth protector again?"
Your mystery object appears to be a telephone dialer, with the ball going in the finger hole. They were popular with women who had long fingernails. My mother used something similar when she worked as a hospital switchboard operator. I recognize the Borden logo on the handle, too. It must have been a brand promotion favor.
OK first of all who the hell in America doesn't know what a cap bomb is....they still sell them.....and secondly this is like the third time you've featured a cap bomb...and it not the only repeated item I've seen...can we stop with repeats pleeeeeease
The hammer is simply a pin hammer mostly used by upholsterers one end to set the pin the other end to hammer it flat nothing else I know this as I'm an upholsterer and from 5 generations of upholsterers.I still use one now my great great grandfather's that's all it is
I Hadda Dream About This Item Around 12 Years Ago And 6 Years Ago I Came Into Possession Of It... I'm not sure, but it has that dairy cow on it. A butter spreader?
You're doing a great job. Thanks.
I don't think you need music and I like this voice. Good job❤

The mystery image is an old rotary phone dialer!
With a picture of Elsie the cow on it
Way to go!
Back then there was an ad for Zenith that said "the quality goes in before the name goes on".
You don't think the seven stars could represent the "seven seas"? Basically meaning the US Navy can travel to any water on Earth

Those radios back then were the equivalent of about $3000 USD today..
I didn't know we were supposed to guess common household items...

Definitely a rotary dialer, this is still by far the most interesting Channel on TH-cam.❤

There are bush hammering attachments for most pneumatic and electric hammers, you don't have to use grinders or do it manually.
I wonder if the Navy commissioning pennant's change to seven stars was emblematic of "the seven seas."
2:42 Asa kid I had a whole set
"Joey! I found this cap bomb under your bed. I told you it was dangerous and to throw it away! And btw, are you chewing on whipped cream without a mouth protector again?"
2:51.... This one has appeared in previous episodes several times lol
It’s a handle to an ice cream machine
That is a lot of people that have chopped off someone's head.

The sticker on the phone dialer is that of Elsie The Borden Cow!

I’ve never heard of them. I’m 77 years old, so I’ve been around long enough to have heard of them.
@brazillady5119 I'm guessing you are not American though...which would make sense why you haven't heard of them
I remember having a cap bomb…….and a cap gun!
That thing in the front is a cap bomb. Had 1 when I was a kid. Put a cap in it & throw it on the sidewalk
I knew the Stone Masons Hammer and the Cap Bomb.
I remember the cap bomb.
advertising/promotional swag from Borden's Milk Co. used to dial rotary phones.
Without watching the video I'd say the dart like thing would be a toy that when thrown would fire a cap like a cap from a cap gun
Rotary phone dialer thingy.
A cheese knife or a butter knife.
mystrey item: aunt had one like that not sure if it was its real use but she use it all the time to dial her phone
