I saw 25 years ago graphics of the MEKO A200 and A100 on the website of Blohm and Voss and was fascinated by the new stealth design. Thanks a lot for the ship brief.
Great ship briefs on smaller navies, well done. I have noticed the navies from smaller nations who don't need a blue water intercontinental navy tend to load up their ships with weapons. If you don't need to go far load it up!
Sounds like Algeria has a more sensible relatively affordable Navy than the US. We focus way too much on the latest high-speed gear and way too little on tried true and reliable.
Just for reference, the gas-turbine engine, as @subbrief said, is derived from the TF39, which powers the C-5 Galaxy heavy lifter. Just a reference as to the size and power of the LM2500.
This was a fantastic brief, what cool designated hitter for a small navy! I made another comment that was unrelated to this video and I didn't mean to detract from the very good content above. I also really dig the Sea Power streams, they are the best on the entire web!
@SubBrief Surely a modern ship like this would have proximity fuze 30mm rounds much like the 40mm Bofors of yesteryear for AA duties with the proximity fuze being the vital differentiator in WW2 between good AA and poor AA, and has been considered as one of the primary weapons of the war, the proximity fuze, because surely that would make 30mm ammo on weapon systems that do not have a coaxial 7.62, and in any case, it would make the 30mm rounds on ships like this far more effective against the bog hammers. Perhaps @SubBrief could do a video all about modern ship self defence against bog hammers that get too close, i.e. the brown pants level of self defence before you reach for the knife.!
the proximity Fuzed shell in ww2 was for the 5/38, not the 40mm bofors. Even today, a proximity fuse for a smaller caliber like 30mm might be impractical or impossible
Talk about good timing Aaron as i heard Japanese frigate n Meko 200 only 2 left into next phase. I didnt realise that Meko 200 weight is lighter then Japanese frigate, that Meko 200 share similar systems like Saab 9VL, torpedoes n bushmaster guns, but will it be enough to beat Japanese frigate offer in terms weapons n systems?
@@Kirk_G.He is referring to the Australian tier 2 frigate selection process. The Meko A200AN and the Mogami are the two finalists for 7 to 11 new Australian general purpose frigates.
@@Kirk_G. Thanks geoffh784, Yes Kirk_G is wanting purchase 11 frigates, i believe 3 to 4 will be built overseas the remaining in Australia. Frigates will base standards, so Australia will have systems n weapons to work with rest of navy fleet n ADF. There are rumours that there could be minimal change but without delays, later versions built in Australia will fitted with Australian equipment. My bet will be Japanese because how quickly they produce their frigates. For US Veteran Day, Remember day he in Australia, UK, NZ n Canada. Let's We Forget
It will be enough from thr CMS standpoint alone. Mogami has this fixed roundtable style CIC that is using their own CMS. pretty hard to implement it with Oz CMS without changing the CIC ship module. Also, the proposed MEKO has 2 versions, with CEAFAR and with non CEAFAR suite. So, it's pretty hard not to choose Meko.
Rbs 15mk3 is not Gungnir missile that is MK4 that they didn't get only Swedish army operates the MK4 Gungnir missile so far still it has the range of 200+ km AShm extended range missile is from year 2017
Good Video as usual an it is always imressiv wat our yarts can bulid for export an how fast comar to ouer owne projeks. But is is by far not the first ship using WARP. Alredy in the beginning of the 2000ths the same yard build 3 MEKO SAN vessels for south african navy.
@RectalRooter are either of you Patreons, if not you're on an advertising rag run by an American corporation. You are the product, and that creates conflicts on interest. It costs you nothing to go elsewhere, just as it costs you nothing to accept the reality of those conflicts and choose what you absorb and what you ignore.
I think you will very much like the Egyptian version of meko 200 and the ambassador mk3 ( only for Egyptian navy ) and the beatiful scene of ka52 and the apache side by side on the mistral , you like that alot iam sure 😅
Does any one remember a video that Sub Brieg did about a audio recording which a nordic country presented to their parliament about russian subs operating in their domestic water? where he analysed the recording and said the audio had subs in it but the wrong time was identified @subbrief

Yeap.. Thanks a lot for glossing over the profiteering on the deaths of 2 serviceman

Do a sub brief about the gowind corvette/frigate next please

5:40 The ship officially has WARP engines. It's not getting much cooler than that. 😁
Engage😂
MEKO A-200 variants; my beloved
These sound like vessels that would find a home in the US Navy
A big thank you for this great overview of this MEKO class ship,👍
can't wait on your brief for the upcoming German F127 frigate (MEKO A400-AMD)😁
Nice ship. Well chosen, Algeria.
Beautiful vessel.
Please do the South African Navy's Valour Class frigates!

The TF39 engine was developed as a prime mover for the C5 galaxy....not a trainer engine.
Egypt and Morocco have FREMM frigates
Typto seen @2:10 with one MASS launcher and one WASS launcher.!

Australia has a competition in place between this ship and a Japanese version . Are there any negatives with the German ship ?
Other than being German no there's none
How does the water jet affect how easily it can be picked up on passive sonar?
Not at all. It's not a submarine. Even if it was, if you zip around at 30kt you don't really care about how much noise you are making.
*Jet Ski Happy Sounds*
MEKO ftw.
Can you please do the South African navy
Can you please do a video of profiteering on the deaths of 2 serviceman
I'm at 22:22 and though I'd say that that is 50 knots, calculated using an online conversion site. :)
19:30 Typo for "range"
Seems these two ships should of been classed as destroyers instead of frigates.
The RBS15mk3 is not the Gungnir. Thats the RBS15mk4. The mk3 has a range of 200+ km, mk4 has a range of 300+ km.
11:31 this is not the Warp engine you are looking for
Build a few for the US.
Sorry, but this is not how radar and stealth work. (Around 18:00)
Do we still not have a video about the Chinese sub sinking ?????
Aaron is still a DOD consultant I believe. He may not want to get involved in that for legal reasons.
I believe the Egyptian version of this ship is a bit better it has a better radar and better anti-air missiles

And not made in Russia, Algerias traditional arms suplier🤔

Good video as the usual profiteering on deaths of 2 serviceman. Keep it up..
26m/s is 50 knots.. and that's the slow speed 😬😳
Still no apology for turning a video about 2 dead aviators into a 7 minute grift session for ground news.
So don't watch the channel and start your own.
@@BB-sm8ey he's not gonna sleep with you bro
@captivatethem good. But who made you the moral police?
I'm here looking in the comments for the same. I wonder if the channel expects people to just gloss over and forget aboot it.

In this day and age, anything big enough to be seen will all be destroyed no matter their armaments. Best be onshore for some type of chance.
Erradii or Eradii ?Always check your spelling.
You might even say it was erratic.

Agreeing to sell such sophisticated weapon systems to Global South nations with no friendly intentions towards West is shortsighted and dangerous.
