It takes same energy to break 1 block as it does 10 blocks if each block is separated as you're breaking through one at a time. If there's no separation it's another story- you could only smash half as many

Yes it requires a strong hit, but the rest is an illusion of power as the kinetic force does not travel down the center through air.
