Simply superb. Why would anyone need to compare these two. They both have totally different styles . Jeffs slaying it on the whammy and slide and Eric's slaying it with the pick. Throw Eric on slide and there wouldn't be a match struck between them as well. There is no winner in this competition. Both of them are from another planet.

At first after Eric is introduced , I thought that this is gonna be great, then when Jeff starttd to play I thought " this can't get much better". But by the end I thought " this is as good as it can ever get". Now I don't know what to think! My brain seems to have melted.
Yes it was sheer joy for both , respect to EC for replying to that onslaught of a solo where many would have had no response. The world learned today of the passing of Jeff Beck and clips such as this will remind everyone forever what a true master of his craft he was 🙏
Claptons solo you can understand, it makes sense., its good. Becks solo is something way out there, it makes you want to listen to it again and again to figure out what's inside the man's mind! Quite genius.
The Further On Up the Road where Jeff is playing a Tele (with a pick!) alongside Eric ('81 I think). His solo after Eric's just makes Clapton crack up and smile like "are you kidding me?!" It's so good.

This is hands down the greatest concert ever to be captured on film. Not just because of the music, which obviously is astonishing, but the chemistry between Jeff, Jason, Vinnie and Tal is infectious and utterly delightful. And this is just the icing on the cake, to see Jeff treating Clapton as his mate, no egos on the stage, everybody is equal.
Joy. That is what music is all about. Look at them ; Jeff, Vinnie, Eric, Tal...Pure joy. No more emphasis on the glamorous shit, no booze or drugs to boost. All from the Inside. I love good music played by happy souls. Magnificient !
