    Wow; I totally dig this unique method for building sound on the OP-1. You've found another new fun direction to push this piece of gear. Thank you!

      Thanks! This little machine has so much to give...and even though many aspects don't seem impressive, the fact that it invites experimentation is worth so much.

    Very cool trick! It's always helpful finding techniques for looping and layering sounds on the OP-1 without committing to the tape track.

    Very cool. M1 and M2, I know what they do, but I never end up using them. Watching you talking about the click when enabling mic, and then using M1 to automate that level instead - what a great idea. I'm now thinking of all sorts of ideas :) thanks

      @@SONWU As a NEW owner of a Field (and someone who owns primarily larger studio equipment such as Prophet 5, vintage Arp 2600, MPC3k, etc), I love the Field, but I struggle with the rhythm sequencers that it offers. Unless you're just hammering out a rough beat live on tape, I don't think it's got the ability to lay down a quantized groove very easily so you can build a track around it. I'll keep researching. I work by laying down a beat and building up the track from there. The Arpeggiator and Endless aren't good for rhythm, Tombola and Sketch are novelty. I saw your video on hip hop beats but in that case you need to punch it all in first, then play it. That was neat, but not creative for authoring music They needed to add a looping drum sequencer. Pattern is close, and maybe I haven't mastered that sequencer yet, but it's not easy to edit or nudge notes on the grid. (likely user error :). )

    I would love for you to a midi setup video, or just midi in general. I just got my OPZ, but i can't seem to find a way to do it. I found another cool way, but it's a bit of a hassle. i Don't have a tx-6, and I'm not sure there is alternative. I really want one, but i gotta save up some more haha. If i put my sp404 in dj mode i can record my beats and play a bit with them that way, but it's not as smooth as this. Having two step sequencers is really powerful. I Really wanna find a way to utilize the field without so much static. I'm not the best people person, but i would love to have you teach me about the OP-Z. Not sure how that works really? Can't wait for more videos with this setup.

      @SONWU  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jimi!
      Don't worry about not being a people person. (I am not always one myself)
      We can still do lesson together. Absolutely no problem. You don't even have to show yourself on camera, if you don't want. I am very flexible, when it comes to giving lessons and everything can be tailored to you needs.
      So hit me up if you want to give it a go: ko-fi.com/sonwu/shop
      Looking forward to hearing from you!
      (PS: There may be more MIDI videos in future, but of course the MIDI setup depends on one's needs)

    Hi Mr.Wu! It would be great if you could make a video explaining how to sample, how those samples are assigned to the different buttons (1-8) and where they are stored. I have sampled a melody and it was assigned to button 6, but the default assigned sound was deleted. I had to restore my OP1F :( No info out there ❤

    • @SONWU
      @SONWU  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the input. I'll try to get to it at some point!
      In the meantime... 1-8 are just slots to have different sounds in. You can save the sound that is in a slot by pressing and holding the number. This will save the sound to the snapshot folder. If you press shift and the slot number, you'll see the snapshot and can rename it.

    Question: could you perform with just the op1 field? I am considering it for experimental noise music. I play modular, etc. but would love to just use this device on stage by itself.

    • @SONWU
      @SONWU  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think I could...Not the ideal tool for live in my opinion.

    • @NothingNowhereNoOne
      @NothingNowhereNoOne ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SONWU what reasons are the why-not for you? And anything you’d recommend for what I mean? I’m thinking small modular setup or couple elkturd boxes.

    • @SONWU
      @SONWU  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NothingNowhereNoOne I can just speak for myself and my Hip Hop centered music making...but the OP-1's tape workflow isn't as flexible as having a sequencer with multiple tracks that you can mute and change on the fly. The OP-Z would be my choice for ive....but It really depends or what you want to do with it live. If you want to play some loops and maybe improvise on top, the OP-1 might be enough.
