- Can you use a cellular iPad mini (2021) instead of an iPhone? This is my REAL day in the life usage of the iPad mini 6th generation including a battery life test and testing the camera.

I don’t have cellular but I noticed that I can get like 6 hours of use more or less. I never let it get below 25% so I will normally recharge at the point. So far I’m pretty happy with my new iPad mimi. Thanks for doing this experiment 🙏🏻
You can fold only the 1st third of the cover to reveal the camera and still have it totally flat.

If I will take applewatch with celular + some bt device for speak, then I be able to call and sms from watch. iPad for all other stuff. It is possible to eliminate iphone?
You can only connect Apple Watches with iPhones.

Turn on power saving mode it doesn't take a hit on performance because the a15 is more powerful than these tasks require. It turns of the high power cores and uses the lower power cores and damn 33% better battery life without any hit on performance. Maybe you might want to do a video with this enabled and compare them. Excellent content 🔥
I got my ipad mini yesterday, so far really nice. But many apps are not optimized yet. Biggest issue to me is youtube in landscape fullscreen. You can not scroll through the video because the red dot on the scrollbar is too close to the bottom border of the ipads screen so that instead of scrolling through the video, app switching happens. Hopefully this will be fixed.

Another video after a week would be cool to see if you will stay on the mini or not.
I’ve always considered the iPad mini as an awkward sized device. However, because phones are getting bigger and pricier, I’m considering to keep my old phone for calling and texting, and get an iPad mini for everything else. It’s much cheaper than a new phone, portable and I get a bigger screen :)

I keep “deciding” not to get a Mini but I keep getting tempted the next day by finding a new review about them lol. And yeah I wish the front camera in my iPad Pro wasn’t as grainy. Sad that it’s still grainy on the mini. I guess it makes sense for how Apple used the wide camera for video conferencing.
I found that I only needed my iPhone if it was for SMS and use a Data sim for my iPad mini or Pro and it grows on you
So with your sim in the mini you were able to make regular calls ? Cause usually it’ll say making a call from your iPhone usually only FaceTimes will go straight thru the mini

you can press and hold the keyboard button on the keyboard to switch from full to split to floating. you didn't mention this in the review when talking about the keyboard, maybe one of the other settings would be better for you to respond to emails. you can also use the pinch gesture on the keyboard to change the size.

Is there a way to attach some cheap health tracker to ipad for notifications since Apple Watch is not allowed to be used with ipads?
Why does the battery reduce it so fast when using? Did you make max brightness on your ipad mini?
They make a case that holds the pencil. It's covered up when it's folded closed..As it has it's own little tray. ...It also locks the screen when you close it.....

Great video! Is the display bright enough for you outdoors? Do you think the camera is good enough for vloging?
It's reasonable outdoors, I would recommend an iPhone 12 or 13 over an iPad mini for vlogging
There is two folds on the ipad case, so close only one and then camera is exposed, I use my ipad while driving and installed a dash cam so the flap is on the back and it holds it, please let me know when you tried the apple case only one side folded on the back. I love the case as it is held by the magnet.fold case to the back and flip one of the folds then the camera is open while it’s held by the magnet.
How is the typing experience while in portrait mode? I have big hands and really miss the phablets of other times...

Very useful review and fun to watch. I have to say that because I don't draw or doodle my gen 5 can basically do everything the new one can, so no upgrading for me.
No Home button, or flash light on the iPad mini 5 but you have that on the 6
I am using a ipad car holder for more than two years - I normally used my 12.9 iPad Pro 2021 1T on my dash, but I got the mini 6 because I don’t like Face ID since COVID. The finger sensor I love so that I don’t have to take my mask off to open Face ID. I wish apple can put a finger sensor on iPhones same as the mini ipad 6 so that it’s easier in these times we living in to be able to open apps that requires Face ID. Or put a finger sensor under the screen the way Samsung phones are. My old phone A51 has a amazing finger sensor that lights up green.

Really didn’t know swapping SIM cards to use ipad as cellphone . I probably cancel my tablet to save money but just got the SIM card yesterday in my iPad Air. Keep it in min. Bought my iPad Air directly from Best Buy. I suppose I could swap iPhone SIM card.

Very interesting, I have been thinking about doing this for a while now. How do you manage to make calls and send SMS messages (green bubbles) with your iPad? I have tried but I just get a “message failed to send”. I use my phone sim and they are in my contacts list. Thanks for another great video!

That's just not possible to do SMS and phone calls on an iPad until now. In this video she was just using blue bubble and calling via zoom and facetime.

@@robtcrider not entirely, as she needed her SIM for cellular. If for me, I would not entirely replace a phone with an iPad, but I find the iPad Mini would be a great companion device to use with an iPhone Mini. IPhone for SMS and normal phone calls, iPad Mini for all other stuffs.
@@hungtrumnoabsolutely! Just thought that was point of her video was to show you can use the mini as a Phone replacement. She shoulda specified the call she made wasn’t through cellular but through FaceTime audio

I’d honestly love to use an iPad Mini as my daily driver but the fact it doesn’t pair with my Apple Watch and also does not have a dedicated app for WhatsApp are major dealbreakers for me. Keep in mind that most of the world uses WhatsApp as their main messaging/calling app, not iMessage. It’s a neat little device though!
No they don’t most people i know don’t use WhatsApp they mostly use iMessages because iMessages is already on their device lol , plus it doesn’t make sense to use WhatsApp since it’s only available on iPhone lol .
@@CandanceOnline I don’t know where you live in the world but whatsapp has over 2 billion active users worldwide whereas iMessage has about 1 billion. Also, whatsapp is definitely available on Android, not just iPhone so maybe do some research before making ignorant statements.
As a Samsung phone user that also wears a Galaxy Watch 4 and uses an iPad, I 100% would rather use Whatsapp over my regular messaging app because it's so much easier to use in general. If they are will to try it, I literally convince people to get the app just so it's more convenient for me. 😂 Also, the reason why people love that app so much is because you can text, call, and video chat and leave voice messages for people literally anywhere you want in the world for free, and it does a decent job of it or it wouldn't be the popular as it is. You can't exactly do that with iMessage.

My iPad Mini is having a battery issue. Only get 4 hours with everything turned off running 1 app. Apple Support had the nerve after 16 days to say I missed the return window and it’s up to them to repair or replace. Nice try.

On TH-cam, not really much difference between your Mini and your video camera.
One big limitation in my eyes is not being able to pay with Apple Pay because of no NFC.

I cannot emphasize this strong enough - an iPad is NOT a big iPhone and is NOT a laptop! There are loads of things you won't be able to do and loads of app won't work on iPad including Apple's own apps:
Weather
Compass
Calculator
Wallet
Apple Watch App
Beats Pill
iTunes
Etc
The only thing an iPad is good at is using the stylus.

WhatsApp had 2.26 billion users in June 2022. You cannot use WhatsApp on the iPad Mini WiFi + Cellular. I use WhatsApp all the time so the Mini does not fit my needs. If it did, I would scrap my iPhone and IPad Pro so that I could use one Apple device for all my computer, internet and communication needs.
