I dunno if anyone is checking these comments for feedback or whatever but Andy's LOTR trilogy and hobbit renditions are far and away the best audiobooks I've ever heard in my life. They are literally without peer. PLEASE convince him to do more, of anything. I don't care.
He doesn't do voices like Andy but I quite like Will Wheaton's reading of Ready Player One. It's one of my favorite books and I think he does it justice and it's a good listen.
I hope he takes an interest in reading Tolkien’s other works including the Silmarillion! Suppose we’ll have to wait and see. Already half an hour into Fellowship and it’s wonderful! Thank you Andy for this!
Andy's reading is well paced and I love the voices. I still think Robert Inglis' unabridged (although technically ROTK had some things I thought were pretty crucial cut out) reading is tops, but this one surely does come close. Perhaps in the future we can get a full voice cast, like was done for Neil Gaiman's Sandman series.
I can't describe with words how much I enjoyed and loved listening to this version of the LOTR-trilogy on BookBeat between 2022 and 2023! Serkis' line-delivery of each character in the books was doubtlessly astounding and so uplifting for me, he truly made the books worth listening through imo.
@@JeffRebornNow I'm just about to finish the fellowship of the ring and so far, literally every word of the book is spoken, including the prologue, it's completely unabridged.
@@charliejones3973 WHY the hell do they advertise it as abridged? You know, Charlie, our imagination (at least mine) is always greater than what the films could possibly provide (no fault to Jackson or anyone else); the word we imagine internally is much richer than what could ever appear on screen. Serkis is attached to the look and sound of the movies, and obviously somewhat bound by their presentation of Tolkien's world. Does such a subjective reading inhibit your imagination? (I'm really curious. I read the trilogy long before the movies came out, so nothing bound the free flow of my imagination.)
His performance is great! Plus his pronunciations of names and places sound more practiced and taught, more so than usual with Tolkien audiobooks, so I was happy with it! Earendil was the only thing (in fellowship, so far as I noticed) that was mispronounced.
On further listening, I would detract a point or two for his Samwise portrayal. It's a bit too "bumbling idiot." Yes, Tolkien, named Samwise=halfwit as a joke, but wasn't ever written that way. In fact he would have been one of the few hobbits who ever learned to read/write growing up, thanks to Bilbo. And he was almost always the first hobbit to sense any kind of danger afoot.
Perhaps the best audiobooks ever recorded. I cannot stress the sheer quality these books have. This has set the standard for how audiobooks should be done. I only wish the song of ice and fire had a similar quality.
@@dobsonad sitting here listening to the Lord of the Rings theme song can't wait the best person to read the audiobooks. I couldn't get into the Rob inglis version, so I'm so excited, and the fact the peter kay biography is finally out on audiobook on the same day after a 15 year wait

The books are amazing when performed by Serkis! I have the unabridged books read by Rob Inglis, (the only other unabridged audio versions available,) and I love the version with Serkis reading. Strongly recommended them all. They’re such an improvement over the Inglis readings and those are not bad at all. I have The Hobbit, the LoTR Trilogy and the Silmarillian., all read by Andy Serkis. They’re brilliant! I own the Children of Huron, narrated by Christopher Lee and would definitely recommend that audiobook as well.

He did Silmarillion too. Released few months ago. (also he did hobbit)
They’re magnificent 👏
You are correct. Absolutely unparalelled
Now this is dedication, all those different characters he voices...I'm flabbergasted
Rob inglis did it very well aswell! I have listen to them both. Serkins does an incredible job. Specially as Gollum lol
His Tom Bombadil made we weep with joy. What a fucking god of audiobooks.
you know where i can get them?
It's actually just as fascinating watching Andy physically change between characters. 👌🏿

Love this in the iPods as I read the paperback,

It’s so good. Rob Inglis is great in his own right, but this is a proper contender. His reading of The Bridge Of Khazad Dum chapter is so fantastic.
He did also play one or two Orcs in the movies, so I’m only a little surprised at how almost effortless he makes it seem
