In this video I'll be showing off the Panasonic Lumix 24-70 2.8 S PRO lens on a shoot with my friend Nikol. I hope you guys enjoy the video!

lovely looking pictures in this, the score, location, concept, model complimented the story really well giving it some futuristic, dreamy feel. So lumix does have a magenta soul much like blackmagic's yellow.
Great review Mitch! The 24-70 is fantastic lens, but I decided to take the 24-105 F4 2 years ago because of the IS...I film mostly fashion videos completely handheld with the S1! The Ronin S is taking dust ahahahah

@@royaltykidstv Yes! Even more than the FF Panasonic cameras. It think it was 7,5 stops
Thank you for these videos on the S5. Pretty much every other channel that had it made one video on it and then backed out probably because of the autofocus. I’m glad that the new firmware brought improvements, I’m really looking forward to get this body and some sigma lenses with it.

Great lens! I bought the sigma 24-70 for my S5 over this one because of the insaaane close focusing distance you get with the sigma. Plus the 24mm on the sigma is actually slightly wider than 24mm
What’s the autofocus like with the sigma paired with the S5?

Do you know if the Lumix S PRO 24-70mm f/2.8 with a follow focus system? I'm wondering how the linear focus feature works, as it appears that the focus ring continues to turn past what would normally be hard stops.
I use the Tilta Nucleus Nano, which has an auto-calibration mode that turns the focus ring to both extremes of the focus, and maps that to the control wheel. As the focus ring on the 24-70 lens keeps turning past the ends, I *could* manually set the follow focus system, but I'm just not sure if it would be repeatable.

love the look of this lens what profile are you using for the videos shown?
This lens looks great and seems to perform well for video. But because of the price tag, I went for the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DGDN Art for my S5 which is half the price. The Sigma is tack sharp but perform poorly for video (if you use the autofocus).
I was surprised about the af and focus breathing - really top stuff.
@@MitchLally Because you're shooting portrait, you should ask Panasonic to send you the Lumix S 50mm f1.4. I hear some great stuff about it.
How is it compare to Sigma Dg dn ? And what is your setting in picture profile ?
Mitch, what about focus motor on AF mode with full-time manual (manual focus override). Is it still linear (like on MF mode) or variable (non-linear) like in many other lenses?

Sadly, I don't own this lens anymore. However, it's the best I have used of its type. To be honest, I am considering picking up a Lumix S camera again just for this lens.

Awesome Video! What do you think i should pick up, a Lumix S5 or a Canon EOS R? At the Moment I have an APSC-Body from Canon and a couple of lenses with ef mount.
Try both! If you get the ef to rf adapter you can keep using your current lenses with the R.
I have the same situation :) and I cannot decide .on other hand , I could buy ef L adapter and use EF glass on S5. Anyway You need to buy adapter , but Lumix S5 it's just more attractive then Eos R at the moment .

Why not go for a video camera like the BMPCC 6K or C70? The S5 is a good hybrid camera though.

It would be the canon 24-70 2.8. There's an rf and multiple ef versions .
The canon 24-70 is also an excellent, huge, expensive lens. I’ve owned both and I’d choose either as a first and only lens.
I got this lens a few weeks ago and I've noticed that the plastic between the focus and zoom rings has gotten a little loose. I can feel it click back and forth when I manually focus. It also creaks a bit just from holding it. Is that normal for this lens? It's not really an issue yet, it just bothers me because of the price tag. I expected it to feel rock solid.

@@ManuelDersch It didn't get any worse. It's really not an issue. Was just stressing about it because I had just spent a lot of money. It's a great lens.
Do you know if the S5 & S1 share same autofocus system
They don't,
S5 has newer system and better algorithm for both video and photography. S1seriously lacks behind.
Although the S5 video af is not thatreliable as well, for photography if you are not shooting very fast paced action it is quite good. Subject tracking is very good for wedding and event photography
Good video... make sure add a DeEsser to your vocal track.

I had the 24-70mm GM. I now have the Lumix Pro. The Lumix is far better, better colors, better rendering, better sharpness, better bokeh.
Sigma is better.
100g lighter + half the price + AFL button + nicer design :)
