    Really like the way you all redid this truck. Really like the white and blue and how the chrome looks along with the redline tires. Hope you all are still enjoying your c10. And thank you for taking the time to share. It is inspirational for me and my truck collection I am restoring

      Yeah he has taught me everything. This is our 10th or 11th restoration we have done. Most were flipper cars.

    Freaking awesome job! Nobody realizes how much work it takes to make one right and you have done it! My Dad just did a 65 and it took several years butbit is amazing and the discipline it takes don't exist anymore! I just started on a 1970 c20 dually and converting it to a 1/2 ton shortbed. Well anyways this video is well appreciated!!!!!!!

      No, keeping it old school and with the matching theme of with my 68 Camaro. The motor now is a 350, but I am already building a 68 327 small block so both 68s will have matching drivetrains as well in the end.

      depends on what your goals are. If your wanting to go the full restoration route. Then start pulling the truck apart in sections, take pictures of how things come apart so you can reference later on when putting it back together. Bag nuts/bolts/screws and tag what they are for. There is alot of unique hardware used through out and some it not reproduced so best to save it all for when you put the truck together again.
      If your wanting to just get up and driving, tackle any leaks, do a complete fluid change of everything, maybe redo the brakes and replace any rubber fuel line or brake line as that stuff rots out from sitting.
      It all kind of depends on what your wanting to do. I drove this truck for a year before I tore into it and did the full restoration while I planned things out.

    What’s wrong with the long bed?? Still a beautiful job - thanks for sharing

    • @camaroboy1968ss
      @camaroboy1968ss  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The long bed was pretty toast, the passenger side had been hit with a forklift, every stake pocket was cracked open, the inside of the bed showed it had been a farm truck. The insides were all dented up, wheel tubs were trashed, the metal bed floor was mangled. So the bed was going to have to be replaced and once I ran the numbers it was cheaper to shorten the truck. If they bed had been in better shape to save I would have left it a long bed.

      @@camaroboy1968ss wow that’s crazy. I’m trying to take custody of what was once my dads 67 CST. My uncle has had sitting unused on his property for nearly 4 decades now. Luckily it’s in the arid southwest so fingers crossed...

      @camaroboy1968ss  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishBaitBlue Nice, hope you can get it. CST's are really nice trucks. Be prepared though for rust in the rockers/cab corners/kick panels. My truck spent all its life in So Cal until 3 years ago when it came to the NW when I bought it and it still had a few bad areas that needed attention.

  • @Road_Rash

    And another beautiful long bed gets hacked...it looks good, but it would've looked way better if you'd left the bed intact...long beds rule...

    • @camaroboy1968ss
      @camaroboy1968ss  ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe, but the amount of bodywork the box needed, it was not worth it. Pictures never really showed how bad it was. A forklift had hit it on one side and buckled both layers of the side. That hit also then dropped the load into the bed and just made a mess of the floor and tubs. Plus to me short beds are better than a long bed. I drove the truck as a long box for a bit and was tired of it.

      The base is a Hurst Competition plus for a 68-72 Chevelle then the handle is for a 55-57 Chevy with a bench seat.

      It just factory Medium Blue Poly that was offered on these trucks. Look up a chip book page for a 67 Chevy pickup. They used the same colors in 68, even the page in a 68 ppg chip book says to refer to a 67.

      Rear is 4" drop springs, 2" lowering blocks, relocated shocks and then a adjustable track bar.
