Hey Steve! Thanks for this initiative in teaching the MPC to others! This is great and your style is very clear and easy to follow. I'm wondering, are using Windows or macOS? Ever since I bought my Studio Black in early 2018, I had issues with the display scrambling lines sometimes, glitching. It's not making it unusable, just annoying... I tested it on multiple Windows laptops and had the same issue. As soon as I tested the same device and cable on a macbook pro, the issue was gone. This is actually widely reported in the Akai forums. I see your screen doesn't glitch out so I suppose you're on a mac. Actually, I recently started learning to use the MPC as when I bought it I got discouraged by the learning curve. At the time, I found a book online from MPC Tutor that I bought and now with all the lockdowns going on, I can dedicate time to learn this beast. I'm halfway through it but I'm very happy to see someone make proper video tutorials for this device. Cheers! 👍

Have been using MPC4000 for yrs, and an S2000 prior. MPC Studio along with MPC S/W, does it offer the same sampling automation as dedicated MPC's of yester- years ? What benefits does this platform offer over and MPC4000 or MPC5000 ?
Which unit is better between the MPC Studio and the AKai MPD26? And can you make Arpeggio sounds with the MPC Studio? And if I get my hands on a MPC Studio will the MPC Studio software will be Compatible with my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 MacOS Catalina 10.5.7? And I also have Logic Pro X 10.15
The studio is a dedicated controller designed specifically for the akai MPC software. The MPD is a midi controller that can be mapped to control whatever you want within a DAW or Hardware / software via midi. Not the specialist on this but certain Mac OS's have issues so google it for the current list of supported OS's.

My pads only work, when i press all the other buttons they just play whats on the pads. I connected the software as a vst to fl studio to see if itll work there but no buttons worked when it was on fl. Should i give akai a call or do you think its done with?

Akais website, you have to make an account and register the product, then you'll get the downloads. If the serial on the bottom is used the max number of times (rare) just call support tomorrow, I just got mine unlocked today. I'd say today but they're office closes in like an hour. They're open like 10-6 eastern

Steve SF Traxx what’s funny is that it lets me into the application. I can enable the midi for the studio black and it works. But, all of my buttons are assigned to the different 16 pad functions. I can’t use any of the functions except the pads and off button!
Steve SF Traxx how should I fix that? I’m going to try to get a free upgrade to 2.0 because apparently if you bought the studio black after 2016 and it doesn’t give it to you you can get support and they’ll put it on your account I think

Sounds like the driver needs to be installed.

First you must install the driver from Akai for the studio or the MPC screen will display only the MPC logo. Good luck.

@seersmucker how long did your lcd screen read MPC? Mine is doing the same it been like that for 7 hours plus?
If people just read manuals they wouldn't get so frustrated.
The manual honestly doesnt even help, it tells you what everything is but not how to use it or navigate through the tools.
