Today we play the Leopard 2A4M in War Thunder. This is a Rank 7 MBT for Germany armed with the 120mm L/44 and fires KE-W Shells.
The Leo 2A4M is basically a 2A4 with a 2A7 costume on. It's got a slick camo net, some cage armor and even mine protection. But, that's about it. The armor is fairly weak against the opponents at true top tier and the mobility is pretty lacking due to the extra weight.
With Gen 3 Thermal Gunner Optics and a decent shell, it's still a good tank. The problem is... it still costs $70 for what feels like recycled content.

do you really think that they give 2 shits about the game anymore? try playing ab sometime. 1.4+ moving one shots and people knowing where you are when no one can see you and where you are and they one shot you. this is why i quit paying for the game and won't spend any money on the game.

Did a 2A4 ever dress up as an Abrams historically? Because this 2A4M is a real tank that evolved this way during the Afgan war you know the one the US started then forgot about while UK and Canada was there the whole time.
Thank you for advocating new Shermans! We're actually missing one of the most widely produced US WWII M4s - the M4A3 (75). It was the US Army's main tank for a time, before they upgunned to the 76mm. By far the most produced tank that's missing from a time period they otherwise cover very well.

@@kirotheavenger60 It's an iconic thing that US crews did, I wouldn't advocate for it to be a tech tree vehicle, but a mini event like we had for the unique IS-2 a few years ago, it should still be added as an event.
Full access to a game usually cost $60, but instead I will buy an in-game item I already have for that price and support the special operation through some tax route while I'm at it.

yeaaa but its armor package is still classified by the CAF i know for a fact that this thing will pretty much eat any 125mm round from the front. it was specifically spec'd to stop russian "mango" rounds.

With this update it is starting to show that you can not only add new vehicles. We need updates focusing in new game modes and other things like advanced customization, while doing that they could add like 5-10 vehicles of other eras cause there are a ton of them yet.
Top Tier is kinda done and needs its own maps and modes too, this tiny maps aren't made for this tanks
I long for the day Gaijin overhauls its modification system and uses a more "alla Wargaming" approach. Different modifications will make the tank ±.3 BR higher

Gaijin has completely lost the plot. Between the recent crap map changes and constant cut and paste new high tier vehicles and no effort at all at fixing balance issues, CAS problems, One death leaving, broken damage model, etc, etc, etc, it's clear that Gaijin is just 100% lazy and couldn't care less other than milking the player base these days. The flood of clueless newb players to mid/high tier has ruined the game. Games are now decided within a few minutes and nobody cares about anything beyond their individual daily or Battlepass challenges. God help anyone who actually used to enjoy the team aspects of battling to see which team could outplay the other using tactics and skill. Now it's just hold down W and charge up the middle, fire a couple of shots, die, rinse and repeat. The game (Ground battles at least) is as good as dead.

they promised "simillar protection to a 2A7V" but "forgot" to add said protection to the tank, so it is now just a normal Leo 2A4. the Vectra was teasered with its F2 round but ony got the F1 which is sgnificantly worse.

I'm beyond tired of Gaijin dumping cut-and-paste vehicles like they are something new bc it has a camo net.
Simple solution is to ignore all the bullshit and just move on with just playing the game.
As a Canadian it isn't fake, its just unmaintained and low in number.
Balancing wise I can understand they didn't want to make a 2A7 premium or people would have been even more upset but if it at least could have gotten either one of the 2 good A7 armor packs, either do just the hull or just the turret as a strong point, as they did it with the sneaky removal of their words on the dev blog it's just scammy beyond, otherwise the tank itself would have been alright imo.
Also just me but idk why people say it's worse than the PL, same mobility, same hull armor but at least for me I can actually tank some shots with the turret armor that seems to just work better (maybe better volumetrics because of the shape) than on the PL, every hit I take with the PL is either some dead crew or my breach gone, EVERY SINGLE TIME
Firstly, it don't look right without that slat armor. It might significantly reduce weight but I'll keep rocking it because of *fashion*, (I hope you can picture the jazz hands).
Secondly, I wish it had 650mm of armor in the turret cheeks and 550 over the breech. That would allow it's armor to be effective in top tier, (for the most part), and there's still significant weakspots on the front.

They scammed alot of people with it they first said in the description it gets 2A7 armor (similar in defense stats) and made it available for purchase and after like 1 week changed the description without the said sentence about the armor . Since you cant refund gaijin basically scammed people with false advertisement.
No, they didn’t. You just lack reading comprehension. They said it’s true to some extent, and they did add the 2A7 armour lol. What they failed to mention is that, the 2A7 armour is only on the roof, but it’s there. They didn’t scam you, you just failed to read properly.

I'd ask why a candian tank is in the german tech tree when British commonwealth is in the game but I suspect it's because german players are more numerous so more sales. A pity, a leopard 2 would have been an interesting addition to the uk tree.
No. I’m a devout British main, and why would I want a leopard in my tech tree? I’ve been a strong advocate against multiple nations having different variants of the same vehicles for a while purely because it makes the game more boring. Why grind Russia when there’s a T80 for Sweden? Etc, etc. also, I don’t want top tier Britain being full of brainless idiots, which is why I’m thankful the OES didn’t get too many purchases.

I think Gaijin has a minimal development team on this game at this point. Too many copy/paste tanks and new skins (which is what this premium is) being released.
That’s not to say the game can’t still be fun but I think we’re done seeing anything major from the game at this point.
When it comes to models, Gajin outsources them to third party companies. All the company does by itself are changing the sounds every update and charging money for the vehicles lol

The fun part of this vehicle is it has spall liners and DM53 IRL... Canada has never used KE-W. Paper tank!

every since this new update dropped ( 14:18 ) you can shoot with your barrel no matter how red it is, you will be able to shoot once, and them it will blow up, so you need to actually take down the barrel now in order for the enemy to not shot back at you

Great video Jamie, looking forward to some more fun tanks next game, this update imo has been a nightmare, they constantly change things, sounds, looks, graphics, rockets sound like someone is shaking a trashbag open and everytime all it does is push me further away from enjoying the game I use to love. I cant even run max graphics anymore after the update, so overall everytime they think they are doing something "great" they're actually just messing it up. And you're right this tank is a scam, its just a way for a kid to purchase a leopard into top teir and that makes it so much worse, they are profiting of naieve children. Every game is an upteir, the list just adds up to me not wanting to play.

I bought this as I’m Canadian and my father has done his fair share of time in our Leopard 1s and 2s, plus its a good replacement for my Leopard 2A5 in my full 12.7 GRB line up

Ridiculous pricetag aside, I hate how the Canadian vehicles are broken up between so many nations. When the Skink got added to the British tech tree I thought it was a sign of how things were going to be handled in the future, but clearly that was not the case.
At this rate I'm expecting to see the Grizzly in the American tech tree, and that'd be a real shame.

I never had Problems with the shells, a lot of people complain about the KE-W or DM53 round but i never had problems penning anything nor doing damge with them. Its kinda weird how diverent the experience with certain shells is for diverent people.
I bought it, I needed something alongside my 2A5 that could also help recoup SL while grinding top tier.
it's annoying that they rushed the 2A4M and screwed it up i wish they had just added it into the British TT at the end of the export line or something because the armour isn't as good as it should be especially not the composites on the side essentially Canada went and asked to get the armour package of the 2A7 fitted onto the 2A4 which means it should have more or less the same protection also this thing never fired KE-W it used DM53 i really hope they do like the CV90 105 with this thing and replace it with something else because it is annoyingly inaccurate...
also this kind of ruins our hopes of getting any other Canadian high tier vehicles because our modern stuff is being split between two tech trees which is pleasing everybody else but is f***ing over us Canadians because unlike all the other players who get to play all their country's vehicles in a single lineup we can't and won't be able to it's unfair and it's bullshit

Play the 2s38, it got a massive buff with this update and when I say massive a mean massive, it's just stupid good now
I would honestly love some more WW2 tanks or maybe even add some flavour with WW1 tanks in a separate spot with unique maps, I never really liked the higher tiers because to me it feels like post-Cold War tanks don't have as much charm because it's a lot of really fast, stabilised one-tapping.
The thing that really gets me about this is that you'd think with all the problems high-tier America is having right now with their questionably-modeled Abrams tanks, the best move would be to dump this in the American tech tree. People with more money than sense would absolutely grab up a chance to have a Leopard 2 in the US tech tree. And while I wouldn't want to see it introduced in this way, I personally have always wanted to see America get Canada as a sub-nation in their tech tree (mostly because Britain already has a sub-nation in South Africa) because we're missing out on a lot of fun vehicles because of the lack of a proper Canadian sub-nation, like the Cougar, LAV III and some copy-paste of Germany and Britain because, well, why not at this point?
Instead, Gaijin decides that the best place to stick a Leopard 2 variant is in the German tech tree, which is already chock full of Leopard 2 variants that you can get _for free_ (kind of) along with a _ton_ of premium/event Leopard 2's already there. I'm not even saying this is a good idea - this is an absolute waste of money regardless of what tech tree its in - but if Gaijin is going to be evil, can they at least not be stupid about it?
I mean, the whole gaming being leos is also gonna get worse now that Italy at top tier can use the leos. Italy irl is also buying Leo 2a8 so whenever we get to that rank Italy is gonna be all leos aswell

In the initial dev blog it was stated that this has levels of protection similar to the 2A7 but that was a lie, such a shame really but at the same time I get it.

And it was done for that very purpose. The german consumer protection will simply add this one to the file. I give WT another year or so before they strike it with multiple lawsuits of breeching german consumer rights.

The german consumer protection agency is no joke. They are the reason why the EU is going after google and Apple so hard. Because otherwise they would have dragged all three, the Eu, Google and Apple infront of a judge.
And as Gaijin even has a german office we can apply german laws. So false advertisement is not just "blatantly false" but "any normal person would understand it to mean X so X is the only possible interpretation" Meaning no such silly things like in the US where "Like =/= same"

I think gaijin should do to prevent low tier players buying way to the top is prevent them from buying if the requirement that a certain number of vehicle researched to get to next tier, meaning they should grind they way up first before they could buy the premiums
Which would make high tier premiums idea pointless. They are being bough only because grinding trough 3-4 tiers is absolutely miserable even if you like the game and doing good (for the most part, some just like the vehicle however).
@@alexturnbackthearmy1907 well that is true but this could fixed by if your starting out war thunder unless you grind one nation to top tier you wont be able to buy top tier premiums , I know premiums is to help you grind but this give expienced players a hard time when they're playing to win and by bringing inexperienced players to top tier matches only to leave on single death without doing anything is just hard for players that actually play to win
@@_m4v3r1ck_2 Well if you put it like that...will be fine if rule is universal: If you have tier IV unlocked in one tree, you can get tier IV premium in that or any other tree. But then question of squadron vehicles arises (as you can buy them for GE or grind at low BR)...
@@alexturnbackthearmy1907 oh yeah the squadron vehicles, Im not sure about those because they can still be grinded and also an easy way to get to top tier but in my experience I couldn't join any squadron to grind those and finally finding one this year to grind squadron vehicles, I think its really hard to prevent new players that has finances to waste on game, I hope Gaijin find possible solution for the problem that inexperienced players going to top tier without any experience, there's also another way you can also make it a level restriction for each tier premiums you need certain level to buy them meaning they need to have this level of experience to play this level and by the time they reach that level that the basic idea of the game

1:26 Ackchyually 🤓☝; From a glance, that DM33 does seems to have quite a bit more kinetic energy compared to the KE-W. Thats probably why its feels more spall-y to you. The higher pen of the KE-W is probably more from the material density and other physics magic things.

2A4M basically just looks like a worse version of the Leopard 2 PSO, you could get the same or maybe better performance from the Leopard 2 PL, since that thing actually has somewhat more reliable turret armor. (Keyword being somewhat, still has large weak spots)
On sale this is a good pick. Probably the most solid top tier premium tank.

It really isn’t that bad, unlike what bawz said, the arrowhead does do a lot, most rounds don’t pen, such as M829A2, A1; DM33, Or most Russian rounds, only the Swedish and 53 penetrate reliably
So it’s like the panther mantlet, you can pen it in the protection analysis but not in game
also just to say, they did add the British premium jet at Top Rank. so they are now selling. not even trying to dodge.
It does look nice though with the desert camouflage and slat bars
