The AH-129D in War Thunder is an Italian Helicopter armed with Spike ER Missiles. The Spike Missiles are fire and forget which allows the Helicopter to launch a barrage of missiles and then duck behind cover without any more assisted guidance.
The Mangusta Helicopter is VERY easy to play, you're essentially playing a Call of Duty Single Player Mission where you just click on the enemy you want to send back to the hanger and then keep repeating that process until you win.
If you're an Italy main then this is DEFINITELY a very good helicopter to have. It's insane how efficient it is for the very little risk you have playing it!

well to be fair, they are beaten by both russian and especially Chinese manpad helli fired missiles. SOOO hes on to a point, However they arent bad, i use the same onces at 10.3 on my previous techtree italian helli. Their biggest flaw is fligth time(guidance time) AND low G turns, but most manpads has low G-turns, Sooo, and at least they are somewhat flare resistant(IRCCM).
@@AdaaDK to be fair, in china's case that what really makes them good. take it away and they're terrible (so good that gaijin decided to put the z9w at 10.0 with only 3km atgm STOCK and upgraded atgms still only have 3km range). idk about russia though, cant really defend them
@shikikanaz4624 if the manpads were realistically modeled instead o being half as maneuverable it wouldn't be an issue, not to mention that the iglas currently are literally magical bullshit which instantly tilts 60 degrees towards their targets as soon as shot(which is utter bullshit)

while it has a large sustainer, but it nearly got not maneuverability only 10G's so you can imagine how bad it is
so yee, large burn time + a fairly good IRCCM, and that is its advantage
like for me to get a single plane, sometimes i spam 4 to 5 of them, so i can get the kill
you could test it on Ka-50, it has 2 iglas

Ya, those buildings in Japan, you used to be able to blow them up with HE or HEAT and shoot through them with solid shot, but Gaijin changed it along with making the same changes to other buildings on other maps. It's pretty annoying when an AP round can't go through a few planks of wood.

I used to work on helicopters back in my military days...that first landing made me cringe. Pretty much means the chopper is getting a new tail boom.

lol OP thought Gaijin cares about accuracy? How many vehicles have we had now that has a name of a specific model that doesn’t match its IRL characteristic or Gaijin mixing and matching features from various models of a vehicle and essentially creating a different one.
You can actually rearm at heli spawns without touching the ground, you just have to hover right above it. Also, if you rearm with the harriers at the heli spawns, it just spawns you in the air so you don't have to take-off again haha.

The Spike missiles actually got a post-pen buff recently along with most of the guided HEAT warhead munitions like the Hellfires and Mavericks
You need to do a collaboration with dollar plays. Yall are the only two content creators I still follow and I love both play styles. I think it would be amazing, but keep on brother.
I always flick manual rolling on for helis you get so much more control out of them with it

Mouse-aim limits your mobility by 4 times.
Use full-real manual control mode to turn as fast as possible.
It really is quite difficult, but try it in test flight.
Turn on dampening only in ATGM shooter view.

They’re saying Helis and planes are overpowered in their current configurations and often are the deciding factor in if a match can actually be enjoyed as ground rb or if it’s just gonna be a case of hide from the plane you can’t kill and hope SPAA or fighters are capable of helping.
Having played this game as much as I have, telling someone to get good when referencing things completely out of their control is absolutely ridiculous.
Once you use the AKD10 on Z-10, you learn to appreciate basically every other type of heli launched AGMs out there.
L-UMTAS exists in Italy heli tree with max speed of 180 m/s compared to 345m/s of AKD-10. I salute those who grind Italy heli tree with starter huey having only 14 snebs rocket.

I figured that most heat seeking missiles lock in helicopters only when they are facing away. As if the engine was a lot hotter on their backside.

Great video, and the reason i just unlocked that chopper for my italians yestoday, However dosnt have great cas is maybe a slight understatement, at least if you play 12.7 you get the gripen C, i would imagine thats a pretty solid cas.
If you use the Israeli AH-60, you can get 16 of these missiles! Very cool, Gaijin!
Why tf would they put the heli pad inside missile range of the ground battlefield... If helis had to fly a while to rearm, it would be more of a secondary battlefield that you can effectively win instead of a farm party.

Have you tried VR for Helicopters? Bruce Leeroy's gameplay looks fun as hell.
There’s supposed to be Spike-ERs on the Israeli Apache, but it only got passed as a suggestion and not acknowledged as a bug report. For now the Israeli Blackhawk is the only comparable helicopter to this thing.

@@OddBawZI thought you showed the AH-60 Battle Hawk with the Spikes, not the AH-64D-I Apache (Saraph in game) (which doesn’t have them in game quite yet (TMsoon)), unless I’m mistaken and missed you showing that one as well.
(Sidenote, if you’re going to play the Israeli AH-60 Battle Hawk at some point (or the AH-60D-I Saraph when it gets said missiles), I highly suggest getting gaijin to give you a test drive for it, as it takes forever to grind the full Spike-ER x16 loadout. The final Spike-ER modification costs 49k RP to unlock… it’s brutal…

This is exactly why i bring a fighter jet, i absolutely hate CAS and now im forced to you a jet because the SPAA is absolutely Useless!
anything above 8.0 is basically unplayable because of them. around 80% (80-85%, i have counted it but i can't remember the of the exact number, but it was above 80%) time when i was playing the T-10M and AMD i was destroyed by CAS players with negative tank K/D

for years now i am saving the stats of the enemy CAS players that destroy me with CAS, and i make a program that averages their tank stats.
their average K/D with tanks is 0.58 so far (while the recent 100-200 players are not yet in the average, but almost all of them are bellow even that number, so i would not be suprized if the average moves bellow 0.5).
CAS is just a cheap tool for the bad players, and that's why it will never change. it is easier to give them a zero skill uncounterable broken tool than teaching them how to play.
oh also the best player in that database has an awesome K/D of 1.3!

@@SirTankBall well the best thing is to get in an aircraft yourself and focus them out of the game with their own tool.
i remember a guy that used CAS against me, and i then got in a plane, and spawncamped 3 of his tanks out in less than a minute. it is even better if they cry afterwards (when in reality they asked for it).

The Sea Harrier and the F-20 have the F/A-18 radar prototype in them. That's why it is in the game.

Spike missiles work not unlike LRM in mechwarrior online: While missile is fire and forget, you use positioning to tunnel the missile and set the approach angle.
I'm so glad I watched this! I was thinking about getting into helicopters, but now I'm not. I'd rather be on the ground.

Been awhile since I’ve been in war thunder as I’m getting back into it I’m finding I’m really liking the UAV’s that you can spawn in on light tanks, wanted your thoughts on if you should get rewarded for scouting people with them, I’m finding it hard to stay interested again with war thunder and it really isn’t helping that the one thing I like doesn’t even give me anything. Please revisit the Israeli 6.0 (M-51 specifically) lineup! The m-51 wasn't great when it was first released but the fact that it's a reserve vehicle at 6.0 and changes to HEAT have turned it into a really fun tank to play since you last used it. Plus Weizman's Spitfire is just a blast to play with for CAS.
Gaijin has a lot of work to do on the flight characteristics and damage realism for the helicopters.

The AH-60 spike ER missiles are mmmmmm alright they randomly hit in wired spots or lock onto nothing sometimes it kinda bites. Hell ya never wanna just leave a good fight and NEVER want to get a L if its possible.

Spikes may be slow but when theyre IR based like this, it makes me wonder why the Apaches are anywhere above 11.0 right now. The only helis that should be above 11.0 are anything with Vikhrs and F&F spikes. Even after the buffs its hard to justify Apaches and Vipers/Cobras being 11.3 with Hellfire performance.
It is a massive detriment having to be in LOS of your target for the entire 20+ second flight time within 4 km to guide it in, not to mention anyone who pops smoke makes the whole launch useless, and Hellfire Inertia guidance is still broken. On the other hand Vihkrs are extremely fast, theyre direct flight, and they're beam riding so smoke doesnt matter besides making you need to guess where the target is in the smoke; and Spikes are just launch and dive until the SPAA runs out of ammo. Not to mention both Spikes and Vihkrs are good anti-helicopter weapons while Hellfires are almost useless against them.

fun fact, even if u get severe damaged, u can still survive, it just gives the player 75% of the kill, and doesnt add a kill to a stat card unless it dies

They cancel the lock for the spike missile. I found it easier just to rotate the helicopter for break the line of sight for the seeker, then it resets

You can press weapon lock key again to unlock, and you can hold collective pitch down key to engage break... Also leading your AA missile is generally a better idea

Yeah Helis in WT are just to broken especially top tier ones, all you gotta do is sit all the way back near heli spawn and you can kill things so easily, i kinda wish they would nerf the range of heli missiles abit or at least up there spawn in costs, cause Helis are the reason i dont play high tier anymore and stick to around 6.7

With hellfires fixed to actually function and be dangerous, maaaaan things should cost a lot to spawn. Even more if you are on the team with pantsir tbh..
Can people start complaining about Chinese helicopters and their blatantly overpowered missiles, especially the TY-90. It is practically impossible to defend, having both IRCCM and a high maximum G-load. This paired with the long burning and powerful rocket motors it has a range that in order to stay far enough away to defend it, you will be totally useless to the team. It is also the fact that it has a IR seeker and guider, making detection of the missile only possible visually, which means you have to even know if there is a helicopter like it airborne, again only possible with very powerful radar and constant attention to the helicopter spawn. The Z-9W gets four of these. That is practically three guaranteed kills, just in being able to take down any plane or helicopter.

I think if you shut off you engine when you touch down on the pad, it is harder to lock an IR missile on you. I know it works with jets.

Love your videos but the last match is a perfect example of what's wrong with helicopters in Ground RB as you never left your spawn popped up shot at tanks that had no way to counter play you or just shot at aircraft with AA missiles and then landed right at the base you never half to leave. Now aircraft with ATGMs either get rocked out of the sky by AA or after they shoot their ATGMs have to waste a bunch of time traveling back and landing at an airfield but the helicopter just lands after destroying a team and boom 30 sec later your back up not having to spend the travel time before dumpstering then poor players trying to play vehicles in the ground RB and this is one of the main reasons I will not play high tier anymore. WT really needs to look at the spawn base and moving it out so helicopters can just sit over it and kill teams and have to spend just as much travel time as aircraft,
