    This was absolutely one of the best tutorials on CNC text stacking I have seen. In five minutes I learned enough to completely make my own sign and it came out wonderfully. Thank you thank you thank you

    I’ve looked all over TH-cam for a simple “how to” because even though I enjoyed the 3D Koi Fish made on the CNC machine, this is more my speed, at least for now. This was very well made. Straight to the point, no BS, and easy to follow. Thank you!

    I've seen other videos demonstrating stacked text with other software. You made it so easy to follow. Great job. Could you describe in more detail how to cut the "space" between the letters and their offset?

    • @ChrisPowellFSD
      @ChrisPowellFSD  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your best bet now would probably be to use advanced v carve.

  • @newmonengineering
    @newmonengineering 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can paint all 3 layers different colors here is how: do the black exactly the way you did. Leave the mask on when you do the last cut and use a small brush for the outer text. Then peel the mask off the top text and use a rubber roller to paint that. The hardest part is the second layer TEXT part. It has to be a small brush you it should be easy because the mask on the top prevents mistakes and the black layer already cut is lower so it's not too bad to do. The top is very fast and easy with a rubber roller because there is nothing but the top layer that the roller will touch. Just an FYI. I have done this before.

    Great video Chris, any way too figure that out for acrylic? I'm looking at doing a acrylic lit sign and the logo would be stacked text. Thanks for all of the instruction you provide.

      I’m trying to figure out how I want to do an acrylic shop sign too. I was thinking about cutting out my logo and seeing if I could fill it with epoxy.

    Thanks Chris, I have been wanting to know how to do that without having to watch a really long video. This was very helpful even with me working in aspire. One question tho. I matched my speeds and feeds to yours except my pass depth is .0625, and created the offset like you mentioned for the last cut in order to lessen the time. My time however is still 1:01:14. with the 1st pocket being 47:30. I changed my Z clearance to .1 and and plunge clearance to .07. That helped, but not sure what else to do to lessen it. Also what is your total time in including prep and finishing, as well as avg sale price for one that size?

    • @ChrisPowellFSD
      @ChrisPowellFSD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s hard to say without seeing your file. They probably take an hour to make. I figured a larger one, like 21x11, should go for about $60.

    • @jinfolsom
      @jinfolsom 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Powell Do you mean seeing the feeds and speeds , and bit settings, or the whole file? I could post shot of them but the file is aspire. Is there a way to save it so it’s universal amongst any program?

  • @ldnelson840
    @ldnelson840 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Chris, After you sprayed the black, how did you make sure that the top text aligned with the bottom text when you resumed carving? Did you have to rezero or did you leave the program paused and simply resume carving once the paint dried?

    • @ChrisPowellFSD

      I use depth stop collars on my bits so they’re all set to the same length. The computer saves your 0 locations when you shut it off.

    Hi Chris, since Carbide 3D changed how the boolean union works in version 6, do you plan on doing an updated tutorial using a different method?

    • @ChrisPowellFSD
      @ChrisPowellFSD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve thrown in the towel on CC and moved on to better software. It’s just too much of a headache to keep up with all of their changes on software that isn’t that great anyways. I use Carveco Maker now.

    Hello Chris,
    Great Video! I am following your instructions and the only variable is I am choosing different windows fonts. Once I click on boolean union some the letters behind disappear? The letter "O" and the center of "A" and the center of "B". I have done this a dozen times with different fonts and the results are the same? Any clue? I am using carbide build 652 Thanks!

    Is there a way to avoid pocketing a lot of air on the second pocket? Since the first pocket is deeper, much of the second pocket will have the bit above the surface.

    • @ChrisPowellFSD
      @ChrisPowellFSD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could use the advanced v carve tool they added and set a start depth.

    • @mwevre1876

      You could create another rectangle that contains the bottom text and then do a pocket between the rectangle and the top text.

    Could you make another video with The new version of carbide create. If I go to contour it doesn't give me a option to pocket so i'm just going to pocket & doing like you show but it's not turning out. Maybe im just doing something wrong
