    I did the re paste of; my Acer A717-72G-700J (NewEgg exclusive laptop)... It went well. I do use ThrottleStop. Limit all cores to max 3.8Ghz. Turn on Speed Shift and SpeedStep. Lower the CPU/Cache voltage to adaptive -99.6mV. Lowered Turbo Boost Long Power Max to 15. Kept the Short Power Max default at 45. Computer runs excellent (still), playing CSGO (CPU and HT intensive game). Followed the online tutorial to, Auto start ThrottleStop using Task Scheduler.

      A tip from me... If you leave the laptop and not use it for a long time, charge the battery about 80-90% and leave it on a side. Also you can pres the battery reset hole. This way you will disconnect it. Every 2-3 months plug back the charger and charge it to the same 80%. When you are not using it, the battery have a self discharge, so you have to charge it every few moths. Thanks for the comment.

    • @joshuasanerive8123
      @joshuasanerive8123 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@onodra The issue for me was the positioning of battery on the laptop. If I held the laptop anywhere near this area then the battery will disconnect and I would have issues. So once I fixed the battery connection it would pop out. So now I am always sure to hold it with two hands on either side as far from the battery as possible.

    Thanks for the video, I'm about to buy a M.2 SSD and install it by myself(I've also emailed the local authorized service and they said I can do it by myself if I don't damage anything) and it was useful watching your video. I still have a few questions:
    1. You said something about the service hole for the battery at 2:46 to disconnect it. What is it exactly? A hard reset? Is it enough to just start up the laptop as usual after I'm done with the SSD?
    2. I'm still worried a bit about the warranty, did you encouter any other Asipre 7 models that have any kind of warranty stickers on the cover(so that they void the warranty if you remove the cover by yourself)? Or did you even encounter any laptop manufacturer(not only Acer) in the past 2 years that put any kind of warranty stickers on the cover(so that the warranty is voided if removed)?

    • @LaptopDisassembly
      @LaptopDisassembly  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello
      1. The service hole is used to "disconnect" the battery. You can do it after removing the back cover and unplug the battery connector. It is not a good idea to plug or unplug the ssd or other part while the battery is connected. Everything is under voltage at that case, so just unplug it to be 100% safe.
      2. There is no warranty stickers on the laptop, except on the cpu screws, but you won't go that far. There is no warranty stickers ot the laptops for the past 3 or more years.
      After you install the ssd just plug back the battery and start the laptop as normal and install the os.

    • @LaptopDisassembly

      The only thing you have to disconnect before lifting the back cover is the cable for the hard drive. Just slide the connector little from one side, than the other and it will get loose.

    How do you reconnect the battery? Is it automatic? A717-72g-700j from newegg. Just finished upgrading thanks to this video. Samsung 970 EVO plus M.2 1TB SSD. Mine had no SATA so I installed a Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" 500GB. Plug was not seated where SATA cable connects to motherboard inside PC so it would not detect the drive at first. I seated it and it worked. That was the only problem. I used the SATA to clone my existing HD first and then disassembled and installed the M.2 SSD. Then I cloned my SATA onto the M.2 ssd. 1TB M.2 SSD works great! I was a little worried about exceeding the storage "limit" from ASUS. All the SSD software, drivers and cloning was easy with Samsung Magician and Samsung data migration software off their website.

    A few questions, sorry if it's a long post
    I have an A717-71G
    So if there's an HDD and an SSD present and I want to install a new SSD, do I replace the current SSD or the HDD? What's the format? I'm looking at a Crucial MX500 SATA III 2.5 SSD. Would that work? And do you know of any ways to improve the cooling? It tends to run hot

    • @LaptopDisassembly
      @LaptopDisassembly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This laptop have one place for a regular drive (2,5") and one place for M. 2 slot for an ssd. If you have a regular disk and ssd on the m. 2 slot and you want to add the Crucial 2,5" this mean that you have to replace the regular one. You cannot install two regular disks. About the cooling, you cannot replace the cooling system with better one, it wouldn't fit. The thing you can do is use a good quality thermal paste and clean the laptop regularly. (every year lets say). Also dont use the laptop on a soft surface like blankets and so. Also try using a cooling pad.

Although for my laptop model (A717-72G), I also had to download and install the Windows ADK (first) and the Windows PE (second), followed by restarting your computer so it updates and Acronia will recognize the original SSD boot drive. Hi ! I don’t know if you can help me but some months ago, I installed a NVMe drive in my laptop(A715-71 so really similar) and recently the ssd is detected 30 seconds after windows has started then windows crashes and the ssd disappears from bios for the next 10 minutes or an hour…
    I mean if you have an idea it would be really helpful, I tried unplug and plug back in the ssd, boot without the HDD and I updated the BIOS but nothing helped.
    More precisely, when the ssd is used for around 1 minute, it shuts himself down and it’s undetected for the next hour…
    Thank you 🙂

      The fans on that model are "welded" with the metal plate. To replace is you have to cut the plastic that is above the metal. This way the fan will be separated from the metal plate. After puting the new fan, use a solder iron to melt the plastic on the same place that was the old bond. You can use a peace from the old plastic that you cut, to fill the hole. Unplug AC power adapter.
      Locate the battery reset pinhole on the bottom of the computer.
      Insert a small paperclip in the battery reset pinhole. Hold the reset button for 4 seconds.
      Let the computer sit for 5 minutes with no power.

      What do you mean by "how". The procedure is the same. Just open the bottom cover, disconect the battery. After that just insert the ssd and put a screw. In most of the cases the ssd should be with the brand sticker up. After that make a fresh install or clone the operating system and that is all.
