Mate ,you said you wish it was colder,I've never seen snow ,when I look at it gives me the shivers .I live in Queensland, Australia it's sub tropical, it's never below 0 degrees Celsius and no snow.your amazing.
Thanks. Yes it's funny when you want to enjoy winter activities it kinda needs to be a certain level of coldness because it can still be cold but not cold enough to enjoy things like walking on a Frozen Lake, ice fishing, skating, skiing etc and typically if it is colder it is clear and sunny. So I always say if it's gonna be cold I want it to be at least -10°c for all the activities to be fun and safe. The cold also means zero bugs, hibernating bears and typical zero people so it's great in the bush. Cheers mate
I thought it interesting that this guy said moosehead is a good Canadian beer, I for one remembered when all you could miss it cuz he dream glass bottle
Innovative shelter indeed…but work intensive. I suspect there is a joy in this for some…however (and I’m speaking only for myself) if I were inclined to bring a sled filled with wood stoves, smoke-stacks, drones, shovels, axes, saws and perhaps a big screen tv…I’d bring a large cozy TENT as well! Oh, and a large dog house for Bella The Wonder Dog!
The wonder dog indeed 🐕 definitely lots of work but fun also. The tent is a chunk extra to bring and then there isn't a lot to do once it's set up depending on where the camp spot is. Definitely good practice also for just Outdoors knowledge. But I hear ya. Maybe next time glamping is in order
Wouldn't a small open fire w/grill in front of that rock face give you the same warmth since you left it so open above. I know you would need more wood because it would burn less efficient, but it would save dragging along a wood stove. Great experiment, lot of work. Also, I believe 'true' cowboy coffee is poured through your neckerchief into your tin cup. Bella steals the show as always.
An open fire would work however the snow was about 3 feet deep under the stove so an open fire would have melted way down eventually and compromised my base. Also as a result it would.not have radiated the heat to me very well. The area I slept would have been far from level without snow also. The stove also conserves wood very well, which means a lot less work cutting wood to keep a fire all night. Overall, less work to bring the stove, IMO becauseof how much les wood can be cut. Also I was able to regulate the heat very well with the stove and not have any smoke fill the shelter. Overall, it was a good method, but it would be possible with an open fire also. Didn't know that about Cowboy Coffee. Thanks for sharing
Dog knows the right place to be: on the blanket in a comfy spot padded by the boughs underneath. But not going to stay there while you're moving around: got to keep track of things!
Freakin' home run...lol... Great trip. Food looked great. I don't like coffee but that was a good tip. I think lower temps and you'd have an ice vault for sure! Awesome epi! Thanks!
Wow amigo, al principio no entendía que hacías, pero ya me quedo claro, mis respeto para ti, ere impresionantemente creativo. Buen trabajo y gracias por deleitarnos con tus aventuras ❤😊🎉
Man all I was thinking is if Ted had some herb compound butter to baste those babies would be next level. That chili is a great side! Appreciate the video!
THANK YOU for posting a fine teaching video! The 'experimental construction' also made for some suspense. At first, I thought that the branch structure was too thin and wispy to carry the snow.
What an awesome shelter Ted I see it is Bella approved , Love the experiment with the wood stove cool idea . Absolutly love when she tells you she is hungery by bringing you the kibble bag lol silly girl .Ive tried Moosehead lager and found it very tasty your meals looked delicouse Mmmm. Great that your shelter woodstove expirement worked for ya well Done on another sucesful shelter build . Ontario .
Hey Sue, thank you. Can't go wrong with moosehead seems like most agree. I think Bella is likely the best part of every video, especially with the kibble 🐕 😁 Thanks for tuning in
Thank you. I had a few doubts myself and thought it may have dropped at least some snow through when it was warm outside, but it surpassed my expectations also. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for tuning in
Well thought out and executed plan Ted. Success I was worried you'd get wet but nope. I'm sure Bella helps to keep you warm as well. When she does her kibble wiggle dance for you and Heather, it just tickles me. Another enjoyable adventure you shared.

We don’t get much snow. In Tennessee anymore so this is beautiful Ted thanks I’m looking forward to more of your videos !! Sorry I’m late to watching this one!
Hey Janet. Great to see you again. I'm glad I can share the snow with you. Winters seem to be getting warmer everywhere for the most part. They are not what they once were here either. As always thanks for tuning in
So good to see you back and making videos. You make what is for the rest of us, very difficult - and you make it look easy. I love your calm tone, your skill in bushcraft, and the overall kick-ass way you tame the elements. Thanks for the upload sir. In a world of many YT wannabes, you are the real thing! 11/10.
Love this video! Its very cool,I did this with the snow bank from the plow( quinzee style)🇨🇦 had my stove in it too.Chimney out the top😂Drank beer all day😂 Had to come in around 11 pm.Yours is much better tho, mine lasted about a day till Mr Moon hit it with more snow from the plow.😆So glad you did this too!We are now bonding hahaha👍High five to you, hugs to the girls😊take care........Hammie💃👍
Great video Ted. Bella is such a sweet companion dog! The shelter worked great! Always interested in ideas with using the wood stove... Back long ago I never used heat,,, hyst pine boughs and pad and a sleeping bag meant for forty below, sometimes a liner in it. MARCH is always interesting in the north country. LOLOL Snow storm last night and I left my car in close to camp tarped, instead of moving to the roadside as usual. One because I'm stubborn... It IS spring, afterall, right? I'm known to shovel the dock so I can have coffee there as well.. I digress.... Well I shoveled dirt on the icy drive that melted in yesterday so then I shoveled snow... so along came the storm... Just in time. NOW I'm inside to watch your great video!!!! THANKS SO MUCH.
Another awesome build with Ted and Bella! Great job! Bella is so cute and funny. I think she may have smelled that steak but think it shot right by the taste buds! haha! Thanks for sharing. :) :)
@@TheRealTedBaird I've went back and started watching your other vlogs I like them alot. Your really good at how you put your videos together. I would love to do something like this.
Hi Ted, your winter videos are absolutely fantastic. I love them! You do such a great job and they are always entertaining. Thank you so much for sharing,
Brand new to your videos via an older one where you, your gal and dog were canoeing North of Sudbury. Found your review of your scrambled eggs to be extremely humorous. After seeing that I decided to look you up and subscribe. Keep up the great work.
if you don't wont your water to freeze dig a hole in a snowbank to the ground ,then put your water in the hole and cover the snow ,I do this for 2 weeks and never have a completely frozen jug of water ,also boil some water and put it in the container that your going to cover with snow in the snowbank
My comment will probably be lost but whoever reads this.. you got this! whatever you're going through will get better
Thank you🙏❤️
You're getting "Fancy." Nice experiment that delivered comfort and shelter.
