I recently started teaching private lessons and I've been watching beginner guitar videos so I can become a better teacher for my beginner students. I stumbled across this channel tonight and I have to say I'm so impressed. You are hands down the best teacher I've found on TH-cam. Definitely inspiring me to bring these concepts into lessons for my students once quarantine ends. I've known all of this for years but never knew how to describe it to beginners until now. I always told people it was a "feel" thing because I never truly knew how to put it into words 😂 you have earned a new subscriber tonight, my friend. Keep up the good work.

I've been playing for years, and have asked countless guitar players and instructors "how to solo" and they almost always just ramble. Came across this and finally someone breaks it down in a simple and extremely enlightening way. Have been jamming on my guitar for the past hour and I feel like a whole new world has been revealed. Seriously, dude, you have such a great way of communicating music. Thanks.
You already helped me with my intervals, now I FINALLY know what a phrase is! You're the first to explain what they ACTUALLY are! Thank you! You're a great teacher!
Thank you, I play guitar just for 4 years and I couldn't understand how to do a solo correctly.. now I can play a solo so easy and I like it.. thanks bro you are awesome
It's amazing how you break down the language of music into something that can be understood by a layman, with little to even no knowledge of guitar whatsoever. Thanks for this, keep up the good work, cheers!
To anyone who has came here to learn solo guitar, I’d suggest you start from his very first video, learn the pentatonic scale and build you way up to here. Couple weeks ago I started watching this channel and in days I was soloing. My gratitude is unmeasurable to Scott. When I played my first solo accompanied by his backing track, I was literally emotional, because it’s something I’ve been trying to learn since I started playing the guitar. I now can find a random backing track, or any song, for that matter, and quite efficiently solo along. So my advice go back and start from the beginning because it will make much more sense from the start. Also give it your most effort, how quick you master it depends on how much effort you’re willing to put into it. Put aside a couple hours a day until you master it. You’ll figure it out, best of luck!

From what I've observed, if the phrasing is good, the tone and the amp and the guitar don't matter so much. The real guitar magic is great phrasing.

Dave Ramsey would say that you have the "heart of a teacher." I don't know what else you do in life, but this very well could be your calling. Thanks for the insanely helpful content.
My guitar teacher made me create my very own solo for a g major scale backing track as an assignment, which I have to present on our next session. I’ve been struggling to create one for two weeks now and I’ve been anxious because of it. After scouring various TH-cam videos, I have finally come across this video and let me tell you, you have helped me immensely! Thank you so much for this🙌
Scott, I believe much of the nice sounds you are making come from hammers, slides and bends. Do you have instruction on those? I also realize that you are experienced and very fluid on the fretboard.
I'm a pretty experienced rhythm player and have been for several years but I have struggled with solos every single step of the way. I know so many scales, but I just can't make them sound melodic and *not* like...well, scales. This video is the most patient, clear-cut, and understandable explanation on how to scales into solos I've ever watched...and I've watched several videos on this topic. It's like a lightbulb has gone off. Just a few days of practicing what you've taught here and already, I've been able to come up with my own licks, which is something I couldn't do with a gun to my head a week ago. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I can't wait to get into more of your videos!
wow... just, wow!" Beginner soloing - how to get started" that finally clicked with me. I have played intermittently from the early '70's with huge gaps of not playing. Mostly Blues covers and slide but always wanted to understand the concepts behind soloing and making it make sense at least in approach. And Scott, you've made things immensely more clear in thirteen minutes. Thank you.

Well, accidently bumped into Scott's videos and c ar now has gas once again. Never have I learned so much, so clearly, so quickly !!!! Thanks Scott for getting me out of the dreaded rut. I have enough to learn and practice now to last me at least a year or more.

Thanks for creating this lesson. It reinforces what I've been trying to do all along. In the first six months that I was playing, I busted my butt to learn all five Pentatonic shapes and all seven Diatonic shapes. Now I do everything I can to expand them, contract them, and play them in his many different ways as I can. The problem is it's easy to slip into the old mold--but this lesson really helps with that.

Thanks To you I can at least now get a sound out of my guitar that is musical, even my wife said the other day..."I liked that track, what was it"....she was amazed that it was me using your phrasing lesson to play over you backing track. Many Thanks and I look forward to learning much more form you in the future. You're amazing my friend!!!
Dave Ramsey would say that you have the "heart of a teacher." I don't know what else you do in life, but this very well could be your calling. Thanks for the insanely helpful content.
Best teacher on here. I like how you move at a decent pace and dont treat the audience like children.
ACAB is my favorite one
Mine too!

Thank you so much for this🙌
"im not going to sing it for you" made me giggle at bit.
Why is this guy like the nicest person ever?? And an outstanding musician and teacher!
Ive seen steve stine
But I prefer yours
❤️❤️
Hey Mister! almost 3 years looking for someone who can easily explain things and I finally found you 😉😉
Thank you from Amsterdam!
Scott, I believe much of the nice sounds you are making come from hammers, slides and bends. Do you have instruction on those? I also realize that you are experienced and very fluid on the fretboard.
I have a video about that in the pipeline!
Wow man, you're a fantastic teacher.I really like labelling the phrases this way.Anyways thanks.
wow... just, wow!" Beginner soloing - how to get started" that finally clicked with me. I have played intermittently from the early '70's with huge gaps of not playing. Mostly Blues covers and slide but always wanted to understand the concepts behind soloing and making it make sense at least in approach. And Scott, you've made things immensely more clear in thirteen minutes. Thank you.
Bro, thank you so much!!! You epitomize Einstein's theory, “If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself.” I learned more from you than anyone else ever!!!
This feels amazing because you're the first and only teacher that made me think of phrases like that. It's also the clearest way I could think of understanding it.
Ive had two teachers and 4 years on TH-cam....was stuck somewhere in the intermediate level and looking to open the next magic box to get moving again. Well, accidently bumped into Scott's videos and c ar now has gas once again. Never have I learned so much, so clearly, so quickly !!!! Thanks Scott for getting me out of the dreaded rut. I have enough to learn and practice now to last me at least a year or more.
In simple words this guy is revealing the essences, not just teaching the formulas.
Hands down you are one one the BEST on line teachers. Thanks for helping all us “want to be “ guitarist out here.
Scot is the best guitar teacher online ever! The way you presented your ideas is simply amazing!
Dude, I agree with a lot of the comments here, you are a gifted, natural teacher!
Every you tubing guitar teacher needs to pay attention to how you communicate these great ideas and methods. Unbelievable, keep going!
You have got to be one of the best tutors on you tube. Your approach to teaching is fantastic. You simplify things that seem challenging at 1st. Thanks for your time and effort.
You're the best teacher...You're no 1 out of 1000. Please go ahead with what you're good at.
First time ever I comment a video on TH-cam since I have my account (15 years maybe?). Every one of your videos are just the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you so much, brother.
40 years ago, my guitar teacher would say : "3/4 of what you learn, you're gonna learn i without a guitar in your hands - Just by listening and mentally playing with concepts". This is a case in point. 👍
Never stop teaching please! Your videos are amazing. Period. Hands down the best guitar lessons of all time. I’ve picked up the guitar again after awhile, I don’t know what I need to learn but I’m sure anything you show will be more helpful than anything I can find on the Internet! You make every concept soooo simple.
The Best teacher On TH-cam.
Been playing Since 5 years but like a dumb.
You gave me the direction.
Please keep uploading videos like these.
Appreciate your efforts 🙏
Scott you made things so easy to learn and explained them like no other person on TH-cam
You're teaching style is awesome, inspiring, not intimidating, clear and understandable. Easily one of the best guitar teachers in TH-cam. I hope you continue doing what you do. You're a natural-born instructor.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👏👏👏❤❤❤
One of the best guitar lessons (and teacher) on TH-cam. I feel like I just jumped from beginner guitar player to intermediate with this. Thanks!
I'm an amateur, and I find your style of teaching to be one of the best.. Thank you for your time and videos!
God bless you for real..I have been playing guitar for 4 years as a hobby but now everything is like making sense because of your videos. You deserve the best dude keep up🤍
I've been watching guitar lessons videos since the day youTube arrived and I'vo got to say this is the best. Whoa! He took such a complex topic and broke it down into simple small digestible chunks that make it so easy to make the jump for a struggling learner. wow.
I think this is my first time commenting on a TH-cam video. Man! can't believe how you just explained this! You took a complex idea and simplified it to the maximum without compromising its content and practicality. Thank you.
I've been trying to learn scales and how to use them and I've watched countless videos and just found myself spinning my tires in the mud. Your videos have simplified everything ty so much.
I have learned more in watching like 3 of your videos than I have in years of other lessons and even music theory classes. Comprehensive and straight forward. Thanks a ton!
Honestly, one of the best guitar classes I have ever seen, you made something difficult for begginers to be very easy to understand, congrats
Learned so much from this vid!
Thank you so much
Hi I would like to say thanks first off. I'm a beginner guitar player I'm 62yr. old I've been trying to teach myself the guitar for about a year now I have been making some progress but not like I like to. Now that I have found your videos on TH-cam it has been making it a lot easier for me to understand what I need to know to make me a better guitar player. I will be looking forward to hearing some more of your courses like I said before thank you.
I agree with all the comments, your videos are the BEST ever to learn guitar, you are gifted teacher, you not just teach but also inspires…God bless you
