My cousin showed me this sliding pentatonic scale when I was just beginning to play. I got a TON of mileage out of it along with the just the first position box and the BB box. Moving up and down the neck sounds nicer (to me), and looks impressive, and it’s actually “easier” (again, to me) than the “boxes” because the notes are all so close together. This is very useful stuff folks!
I have recently decided that after 15 years of only playing randomly, to renew my guitar skills. After viewing other TH-cam lessons, I won't bother viewing anyone else after listening to Eddie's easygoing, very clear, and knowledgeable presentation. An absolute winner!
I was working on this very thing last night and found myself still aimlessly wandering but now I have a better idea of how to put it into musical applications, thank you!
Coming from acoustic guitar to electric I was looking for a good video to practice and enjoy the electric guitar... This is a great video and I guess I am going to practice this for a month to get this in my muscle memory.
Good stuff man. It was a light bulb moment for me as well a few years back. Like you said, you can extend this concept on other scales and also add the blue note in it. Thanks for the teachings.
I like your explaining how differently the three octaves can be used !Can you also do similar videos about the major penta scale and the 5th string minor and major extended pentatonic 😅
I love this. I have been trying to figure this out for months, can't believe I missed it. I can play up and down the fretboard in all 5 pentatonic shapes from any starting position, switching and jumping between shapes. I knew there had to be a simple way to walk down the fret board, but I never thought about starting with shape 5. So simple and so great. Thanks for sharing and putting this out there. Great video and instruction. Awesome job.
The video lasted for just over 18 minutes and it's the most enjoyable video that I have watched. Having now learnt the A minor pentatonic scale I'm now looking forward to practicing it. From what I saw & heard it actually sounds like music . This week I'm going to practice this scale. I've recorded myself today & I will compare it next Sunday when I play back. I will normally spend about a hour practicing. Thanks again
Eddie's YT vid lessons are AWESOME and you can't NOT learn if you stick around for the hole thing. I am in an Artist Works class that is also awesome but I am signing up with you when that is complete. Thanks Eddie!
I use to think how annoying your adds used to be until I looked into your videos, and now I couldn’t live without them videos, Thank you for all your efforts.
I have been following a few of your videos and have learned more than I ever imagined I would be able to do. I just did my first guitar solo to a backing track using this lesson. WOW! Thanks! I have tried a few times for the download and have not been able to get my hands on it yet. I’ll keep trying. You are a great teacher!
Excellent lesson! I used to play the A- pentatonic in the blues box and got sooooo bored. This is very helpful. I've done that a lot with the G scale. It's just fun. Thank you.
Wow! This + some triads and a backing track was just what I needed! Thanks man! I’ll keep practicing and hopefully get to learn the scales soon! Any video like this one for another key?
As a new player the "running of out ideas" thing at 13:19 is very real for me. I keep learning all these pentatonics and now the extended pentatonics used here but I just don't have a grasp of linguistics to make it sound "musical" yet.
Keep your eyes out for a video we are releasing on Saturday, its all about how to never run out of ideas, make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications so you don't miss it!
I'm an old guy, but this is a standard scale laid out in the Green Note "Improvising Rock Guitar" (with the Hendrix cover, of course) from 1973 on page 22 called "Rock Scales". What's old is new again!
Excellent video dude thanks for sharing that ! May I ask you : got this problem on lead/improvisation , I attempt you know to go a bit everywhere, and doing too many notes (for the blues for example ) .. could you make something about how we could play a lead solo improvisation just with few ideas/notes without specially moving the hand for a melody/lead guitar ? (I got as reference Bb King or albert king , but got trouble to integrate this in my play ) Cheers mate all the best
Great video, I love the way you explain the way to play, like for me to learn since I am new. Can you please share with me what amp your are using or a pedal to make your guitar sound the way it sounds on this video Thanks!!
Thanks for you time, help and dedication. I know you make a living out of this but still you need motivation, dedication, discipline and lot more to keep this channel and journey moving. Thanks
I just wanted to say that this is brilliant !! thanks for that. I also want to mention that this does not only work in the key of A minor, but it will work in any key that contains an A minor. They are F,C,G Major and D,E minor and of course A Minor. Do you have any other patterns that work like this say in D or A Major? Thank you for this tutorial. Please let me know if you have any more patterns like this one!
So frets spacing this exercise from G> 12 C> 123 G> 12 C>123 G>12 C> 123. This works then in any pentatonic. I've been using it but never realised the pattern was under my nose???
This concept can be used for any key or mode. The pattern will change, but if you follow how this pattern was created, you can find patterns that work for each key and mode.
We had a few technical issues overnight while you were likely trying to access it, give it another try and let me know if you still have issues, ill personally send you it if need be :)
😂i felt like a little troll music monster for a minute playing this 🤣😁🤝. After watching u... I know I need electric guitar. My acoustic is boring me like my x 😅😅😅jk
Just downloaded the conveyer belt ……../ it is AMAZING! Easy to understand. I just started soloing and boy oh boy it helps a lot! Thank you!
Not corny at all! Most straight forward lesson I’ve heard in awhile
Sliding pentatonics! I've been playing over 40 years and this is the scale I have used the most. It simplifies life and sounds great.
That scale uses three boxes. Fifth . La minor and Root major box.
It's the scale box that 99% of anyone who has played since the 90s uses. It took me years to break out of that bad habit.
@@LeviBulger Jerry Garcia used this concept to great effect his whole career.
I have recently decided that after 15 years of only playing randomly, to renew my guitar skills. After viewing other TH-cam lessons, I won't bother viewing anyone else after listening to Eddie's easygoing, very clear, and knowledgeable presentation. An absolute winner!
Finally I'm getting it
Big big thanks 😊
Clear, concise and already making a difference in hour one! Thanks Eddie!
I was working on this very thing last night and found myself still aimlessly wandering but now I have a better idea of how to put it into musical applications, thank you!
You’re seeing that fretboard in a different way now. It’s a moment when it starts to click more simple for you. Such a great feeling right???
your the best teacher on youtube
Coming from acoustic guitar to electric I was looking for a good video to practice and enjoy the electric guitar... This is a great video and I guess I am going to practice this for a month to get this in my muscle memory.
I always enjoy seeing the ways you simply put great ideas to work.

Indeed, a lightbulb moment for me especially as a beginner! Thanks a lot & God bless.
Another fantastic lesson. Thanks so much, always great stuff. Love that guitar too.
Immensely practical. Thank you from the UK.

Perfect thank you!
You have unlocked my mind. Augusto from Maputo. Mozambique When I am tired of watching riots on TV I just seat I enjoy your lessons.

I like the discussion of intervals within the form
Thank you man! I learned a lot!
This is great . Awsome breakdown and it makes a huge difference
It has a bluesy southern rock feel to it. The notes are very expressive. At least in my ears
Awsome very inspirational thank you all the way from New Zealand
A lot of the GMM team is here in NZ too! 🤘
Ohhhhh love this kind of stuff. I think it is easier to remember. Thank you so very much for these videos. Very appreciated!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

Un grand merci. Vraiment efficace, ne changes rien. Vivement le prochain cour. Encore merci
Your teaching style and clarity is superb my brother. I appreciate your expertise and skills too. Thank you so much!

You Sir, approach your students with practical visuals and explanations that make sense.
Truly grateful. Keep up the good work 👍

This is my 6th or 7th day of watching and learning your videos. Please do a lesson on sweep picking.
Can’t wait to play this!
This sliding scale I found you can play it anywhere on the fretboard. I’m super new so this was an exciting discovery! 😂
Bravissimo. Spiegato molto bene
Good stuff!! Much appreciated!!!
best guitar channel on youtube.
This is very helpful and it’s my starting point thank you so much
Excellent video.
Thank you!!! Gracias, super práctico y sencillo
Good lesson Sir! Thank you!

Hey! We have quite a few lessons that cover that topic actually. Check out our previous videos and you'll find them :)
Well presented! Very practical and useful. Thanks.
If the amp. effects are not so strong one can enjoy more... just my opinion! Cheers from Canada mate!
Helpful video ❤ Thank you
Great lesson simple and sounds great. So glad I joined your Guitar Mastery course 😊thank Eddie for your videos
Fair play..Do you have a course that dives deeper into soloing ...similar to this tutorial your are presenting
Great video, I love the way you explain the way to play, like for me to learn since I am new. Can you please share with me what amp your are using or a pedal to make your guitar sound the way it sounds on this video

Waooooo
This is pretty awesome
Thank you brother
This work after the 12th fret??? Ty love the video
Great lesson, Eddie. When do we travel along the low E and parachute in?
I just wanted to say that this is brilliant !! thanks for that. I also want to mention that this does not only work in the key of A minor, but it will work in any key that contains an A minor. You really teach
Liked and subscribed.
New sub. Thanks
can you apply that same pattern to the B?
He said, "I'm not gonna do anything flashy"..., EDDIE! You can't NOT do "flashy"!!! Great, GREAT, guitarist dude!!!
Haha thanks friend
wowwwwww this really made my life easy:O
What are you using to produce this beautiful tone?
Fun fact. If you know how to solo for Am chord progression. You already know how to solo for Cmaj.
Have you gone busking on the boardwalks in San Diego Cali ?
Could this be useful in constructing a jazz line…? How would I make it sound jazzy? What key is this?
great! how you made the guitar tone?
So does that shape work all over the neck, not just with root note of A?
So frets spacing this exercise from G> 12 C> 123 G> 12 C>123 G>12 C> 123. This works then in any pentatonic. I've been using it but never realised the pattern was under my nose???
A bit advanced for my level of playing , but I guess that's how we advance lol . Bless ya .
Will this work on a different scale such as G minor or another minor scale
Can this pattern be used in other keys?
This concept can be used for any key or mode. The pattern will change, but if you follow how this pattern was created, you can find patterns that work for each key and mode.
Sir, I would like to know what kind of pedal you used? Please let me know thanks
I use my signature overdrive/boost pedal called the Eddie BoostDrive!
I see thanks for the info
That scale has a lynard skynyrd that smell sound to it.
One of my favorite Skynyrd tunes!
How does this go for a major key?
In C Major you could use the exact stuff from the video!
The A minor can be used over C major as it’s the relative minor. Same as E minor can because over G major and vice versa
@@ScottMorgan1981 Wow! That’s genius. I never thought of it that way. Thank you so much!!!
Major = Relative minor
So, C = Am
Guess I’m too late for the downloaded conveyer belt.... however nice video thank you
We had a few technical issues overnight while you were likely trying to access it, give it another try and let me know if you still have issues, ill personally send you it if need be :)
So can this be used for other keys? And does it work for major and minor?
Yes and yes! You just have to adjust positions on the fretboard to accommodate the different keys and Major/minor tonality
😂i felt like a little troll music monster for a minute playing this 🤣😁🤝. After watching u... I know I need electric guitar. My acoustic is boring me like my x 😅😅😅jk
How can i get that backing track playing
